Pizza Cassette is such a vibe! Totally recommend going early as the pizzas do take a bit but when the band is playing and you have your choice of mead, wine, or beer flights nearby, the time flies. We're big fans of the pork soda and fungadelic, which are just so flavorful and have that good crispy crust. The soprano is also good but not my favorite. If you're in the mood - and by that I mean hungry - I highly suggest the korned beef sandwich. It's greasy, meaty, and has that fresh hit of coleslaw that makes you feel just a little better about yourself for ordering a sandwich the size of your head. Pizza Cassette has two locations, one in Linda Vista and the other in Pacific Beach. My friends and I opted to go to the Linda Vista location which is located in the Garten, a Biergarten-style multi-vendor social hub since it was closer and figured it would be easier to find parking. This is in an unassuming place in an industrial area. It's all street parking but there was plenty on the cross street. Since it's outdoors, it's dog-friendly which is another reason why we chose this place to celebrate my friend's dog's birthday. We went on a Sunday at 5pm and there was live music which was another big plus! Along with Pizza Cassette, there's also Oddish Wine and Deft Brewing, so there's something for everyone! There's plenty of picnic tables, so this place is also good for large groups. When you order pizza, you have to give the cashier your table number which is at the end of the table and that's how they bring your pizza to you. They have a specialty pizza that changes which we got and we also got a pizza with lemon and sausage which sounded interesting. I've never had lemon on pizza before and it was yummy! They serve thin, Neapolitan wood-fired pizzas which were delicious!! We also ordered a kale chicken Caesar salad which was also delicious! It was coated perfectly in dressing with large croutons with shaved Parmesan. We shared the salad and I probably could have eaten the whole bowl because it was that good! The pizza is good though I'd stay away from the more experimental specials if you're going in a large group or are not feeling adventurous. They're very hit or miss. The Elvis, Rossi, Sting, and Queen are really good. Buyer beware with the Elvis, they do not hold back on the arugula and it ended up feeling and tasting more like a sandwich (still good though). The NWA was interesting but I could tell they're more of a pizza place. I will give it points for how filling it was. I deducted one star for two reasons: 1) the pizzas are ridiculously overpriced. I'm willing to overpay for a quality pie but they are not big and you need to get several. 4 adults could easily spend $100 on just the pizzas (no drinks or anything else). That is a lot considering people go here for a casual dinner at what is essentially a food court. Also, the guy at the register can be a little snappy. He moved out of the line just as I stepped up to order because I hesitated with a "Let me get a..." I get the place can be busy but he could stand to wait 5 seconds. I was overly polite to him in response and he warmed up. I noticed he was like this on both occasions I went so I don't think this is an isolated incident. Despite all this, the review stays at 4 stars. The pizza, especially if you like Neopolitan-style, is very good. You can taste the quality in the dough and it's not too salty. Also, seating is relatively easy. You can eat the pizza inside Deft as long as you order drinks there, which we were happy to do. Both times we went, the outside seating was packed. The first time because the alumni association of University of Dayton were having their watch party there and the second time was because they were having some trivia night. Anyway, worth the stop. Even if the cashier is rude, let it go, and don't let it ruin your experience. read more

I went on a Saturday afternoon, parking was pretty packed . The line to order wasn't bad though we waiting a few minutes to take our order so that gave us some time to go through the menu. We decided on the weeks special called "The Sinatra" which has White clam sauce, garlic, parsley, lemon, pecorino Romano , house cured bacon, and fresh clams. Also I got my favorite sandwich called the RockyTop -salami, calicos, mortadella, provolone, arugula, pepper relish, garlic mayo, and lemon vinaigrette Both 5/5!!! The pizza here is not too shabby, especially when you're drinking some beers! I'd say parking is a bit difficult unless you park on the long road. Located right next to deft brewery, in their little beer garden, this pizza joint has connected with the other businesses in this courtyard in order to bring customers a top tier experience. You walk in, seat yourself, and the pizza menus are layed out on every table. You can either get beer, go get mead, or enjoy some wine with your pizza. There's numerous seating spots for you and inside the brewery itself. These guys at the pizza place will ask for your table number when you order food, so they can personally deliver it to you. The pizza is New York style thin crust. I ended up getting the Elvis which has prosciutto, arugula, and cheese on top of it. It was cut up into 6 slices and was very large portions. It was great, fresh, and hot. The only downfall was how burnt my pizza was, which I appreciate because I can tell it was house made to order. They make them to order, so if it's a busy night be patient because it might take 45 minutes to 60 minutes to get your food. Sit down and enjoy your beverages while you wait. One of my favorites recently had corned beef and pickles on it. They offer gluten-free crust, the first time we ordered it. It was so tasty. I feel really late to the party on experiencing this place - great vibe, good food, live music. Love the courtyard with multiple complimentary businesses, seat yourself with counter ordering. Its a great place to meet up with friends. I actually discovered them on my Instagram when they were featured by a local food influencer account and started following. When I saw a reel on their special of the week (Notorious F.I.G.) I was finally prompted to check it out. Pie prices are steep but on par with most good pizza places these days. Their special hovered close to $30. I would say the pizzas are larger than a personal size, a modest shared pizza for two (but if you are ordering other things, totally appropriately sized for 2). Sadly, they ran out of burrata for the evening so my pizza wasnt really as intended. I inquired about some fresh mozz instead which they brought over but that was cold slices. Still not quite the same but they tried to be accommodating. My pizza was an "eh" opinion (its honestly more flatbread), esp for the high price tag of ingredients I didnt get to experience fully. Thank goodness we also got the Fungadelic (salami, mushroom, mozzarella,parmesan, garlic, shallot) because that pizza is BOMB. Wow delicious. I would come back every time for that one. The evening we came (sunday) they also had live jazz music and it was a great vibe. Given you seat yourself, order at the counter and provide your table #, and its quick fired pizzas, it is a very efficient place for a meal. Great for a large group to not have to worry about bill splitting, and great for when you are super hungry as they are very efficient. We'll definitely be coming back and bringing friends next time! This is the food vendor at The Garten which is an outdoor courtyard in a cluster of industrial warehouses in the Linda Vista neighborhood. There was no dedicated on-site parking lot so you had to find a curbside space on one of the side streets. Pizza Cassette was located immediately to the left when you walked into The Garten. Menu sheets were placed at the picnic tables that were set up in the middle of the common space. There was an evenly divided number of pizzas between the red pies and white pies on the bottom part of the menu. Appetizers and sandwiches made up the top half of the sheet. I wasn't hungry enough to order a pizza so I pivoted to the latter category. From the list of five sandwiches, my pick was the Korn(ed) Beef which cost a hefty $20. House brined and smoked pastrami was dressed in Swiss cheese, kohlrabi slaw, and Dijon mayonnaise. I sat a table to wait for my order which took about ten minutes. A worker handed me a wrapped package that was quite heavy. I then understood why this sandwich was priced as such because it was the largest one I have encountered in a while. The layers of meat were densely packed between the bread. It needed more slaw and dressing as I found the pastrami to be dry because there was so much. Two meals at home were what it took for me to finish consuming the sandwich. I will return and either try another sandwich or pick up a red pie as I had a positive experience at my initial visit to Pizza Cassette. read more

I love when restaurants load up the portion size and the team at Pizza Cassette definitely didn't disappoint. That said, maybe it was cuz I was the 2nd to last pie ordered for the night and they needed to finish their toppings or maybe they just felt like being nice - in any case (and I honestly can't believe I'm saying this), while the flavor was great, the toppings were way too much...which, I guess was a good problem to have. One thing worth noting: happy hour runs Tuesday through Friday from 3-5 PM, and they offer $5 pizzas, which is a great deal. I ordered: * Pork Soda Pizza: Absolutely delicious. The crust was thin and crispy, and the balsamic drizzle really added to the entire dish. The service was outstanding. It was really good- the dough they used was excellent! Not enough mozzarella in my opinion though. It was cooked to perfection- only a couple of bites had the dreaded "burnt" taste so I call that a win. Also ordered the meatballs which came with about 4-5 generous portions along with a couple of slices of bread for $14. Been here twice and it's absolutely amazing! We've gotten the Rocky Top (Italian sandwich) twice and me and my boyfriend both think it's the best Italian sando we've ever had. The bread is the same as the pizza dough and is just as delicious as the filling! We got the Lemon Song pizza last time which was yummy however I prefer the red pies that we've gotten! H to the Ezzo was my favorite. Parking can be tough depending on the time. The Thursday trivia's are SO fun. There are wine, beer, and mead options for everyone. I've been wanting a white pie for the longest and there's a good selection to choose from! *Another bonus, in my book! Hubby snagged the: H to the EZZO $23 (Red Pie) Ezzo Pepperoni, shallots, slivered peppers, sausage, mozzarella mix, organic San Marzano style tomato sauce, and fresh mushrooms. Hubby would put his shallots and peppers aside, with no interest in them. So, why let them go to waste?! I was happy to snatch them from him and put them on my slices! Whats hippie about adhering to strict rules that dont matter, chef even said its not busy right now i dont see why not. In the end let down on this years trip, had good pizzas here but finding out from a tie dye guy you cant add chicken led to a one star when the chef making the pizzas himself said of course and yes, initially leading me to buy something. in the end from the beginning before I could even try the sandwich I was let down, hoping it would be good, then tasting it and just not getting any flavor, I am not on a diet. k, what can I say about this place. I heard so many great things, so I had to check it out. First thing is location its odd being in an industrial area close to a storage facility also there's not much for parking. But the pizza is really good !! BONUS: Lost Cause Mead, Oddish Wine and DEFT Brewing are in the same location. Kind of a one stop shop. The first time having pizza here and it was delicious, crust was thin , fresh ingredients. We ordered the H to the Ezzo and the Elvis. The first pie was delicious the Elvis not so much it was just ok. There are signs at Pizza Cassette that call this out but for first timers, it's not the greatest system (especially if you are dining solo) since you need someone to hold down a table (which is already hard during crowded times) while someone goes and orders. They bring the food to your table (you tell them the number) vs just being given a number+table holder which in my opinion would make things a lot easier for the guests. Plus, there were no menus readily available while waiting to order so once you get to the front, you basically are looking at the menu and deciding. We made our order and I joined our group at the table. In hindsight, the cashier didn't let us know that you have to get your own utensils/plates which were off to the side. It wasn't very obvious and the fact that they didn't say anything was not great. (Plus I had to ask where to get water which is located inside one of the other shops). We got the dessert (Pumpkin Cheesecake special) immediately. It wasn't very sweet at all which was fine, but the overall flavor was lacking. Next came the olives which were very nice and addicting! And then the waiting began. I understand that it was busy but we kept waiting for what felt like forever. After 1 hour, I went to the cashier to ask about our food and she said that we were next up. Then right after I sat back down, one of the workers came over to ask if we received everything for our order or if they missed anything. This was bizarre because it came off as they messed-up our order/lost it and didn't acknowledge or apologize for the overall wait (since the cashier literally just told me that we were up next; I highly doubt we were). And then after that happened, we finally got our 2 pizzas. The Fungadelic was very tasty and I really liked the shallots on top. They added a nice little crunch to each bite. The crust and dough were nice, but the overall pie was a bit too wet. You couldn't pick up a slice without some of the toppings and cheese falling off. The Canned Heat was good but it really needed more of the house-made hot sauce. That sauce was really good and it was lightly dressed on the pizza. This pizza had a better structure to it where it didn't fall off when picked up. If I was just given the slice of pizzas and rated it off of that, then this would be much higher recommendation, but the overall experience was not great at all. read more

Pizza was decent, the attitude and threats were a bit much... Ordered pizza was standing at the back near the winery. They brought the pizza just fine, but it was words the end of the night and a few minutes after I was told "this is a spot for working people, you don't belong here. Move!" Guy just walks up and says that. "I say excuse me what!?!" Any shoves past us. Later a second guy comes up and asks is if we were the ones who had a confrontation with one of their people. Talks about how they fight people. And keeps asking if everything's OK.... It's not. In summary: I ordered a pizza they brought it to where we were. and then they said we couldn't be there any longer shoved past us and threatened us! We're in San Diego. obsesssssed with the location of this pizza shop. also obsessed with their constantly changing menu! i feel like you can taste the quality of all of their ingredients, and i think for a specialty shop the prices are really reasonable. reason for taking off 1 star- for the fig pizza I was just expecting a little bit more fig but I felt it was overpowered by the cheese on the pizza. thats just my opinion tho! otherwise super solid pizza read more

We ordered our pizzas to go. These were still delicious after a 20 minute drive. Crust was thin but chewy and tasted like it was made with lots of love and good quality ingredients. Toppings were generous and evenly distributed on each slice. We had the H To The Enzo, Lemon Song, and Parliament. The Enzo had a nice little kick to it in some bites. It was my favorite of the three. The Lemon Song was good but my least favorite. The lemon slices were tart and not bitter. I wish I would have taken photos because they were so nicely thinly sliced. The reason this was my least favorite is because the crust was pretty blackened on the bottom of this one so it had a strong burn taste to it. The Parliament was really good two. The sausage on all pizzas was so tasty. I will try the Detroit style next time but I really liked this crust the way it was. Pickup service was easy and seamless. read more

Came back for a second go-around. Staff were once again very nice! Brought my family, we got the Pork Soda, Fungadelic, and Soprano pizzas. Pork soda was delightful once again. I'm not a mushroom fan but my family enjoyed the Fungadelic. The Soprano was a solid, elevated cheese pizza. My sister got the Korn(ed) Beef sandwich which was delicious!! Definitely not a light sandwich, but the corned beef was super tender and the bread was soft. I was expecting this to be too salty, but seasoning was spot on. 5/5 once again!! read more

Really cool spot, good pizza, has a meadery and brewery attached so there's a few options for drinks. I will say that it's not as family friendly as most pizza spots as Friday nights have live music where you cannot escape how loud it is. A few kids from our group were crying about how loud it was but the majority of seating is outdoors so we had no choice but to bear through it and move to a corner once one opened. The pizza takes a suuuuper long time to come out, no matter if it's a simple cheese pizza or a more complicated one.
