Tried square pizza recently during our stay in San Diego. Pepperoni slice was quite yummy and crispy. Service was quick and to the point. Hubby liked his buffalo chicken pizza. My daughter was either really hungry or found the cheese slices really yummy because she ate three of them!

I am not a big fan of Detroit pizza. But Detroit pizza at Square Pizza Co? I'M ALL IN!!! BEST Detroit I've ever had. Between every bite with my mouth full, I couldn't help but say "wow." We had the Jeep pizza, added Calabrian chili, with a side of ranch iykyk. Flawless!! It's a great size, plenty enough for two. The space is casual, welcoming, and vibey- with both inside and outside seating. Music was great, tables are clean, bathroom avail for customers. The staff are SO COOL and friendly. Parking can be hard given the location but it's worth it!

Stopped by here after seeing the signage for it on the way home. Street parking on the surrounding blocks. Seating both inside and out, space was clean. Not too busy when I was there but I can imagine it packed other times. Got the daily special for one slice and a fountain drink. They also have $4 happy hour beer if that's something you're interested in pairing with your pizza. Appreciate that the staff were attentive and informed me that they had a detroit style pepperoni coming out of the oven within minutes, which is what I ended up ordering. Portion was filling, cupped pepperoni crispy enough, and I liked how the finished dough's texture was on every bite. Hope to come back again soon if I'm in the area.

The is local pizzeria near where I live. It's one of the best pizza I have had. They' have a wonderful happy hour . They sell pizza by the slices or as a whole. It's a good way to try different types of pizza with the option of selling by the slices. I got a Sicilian slice which was Bianca which is my favorite pizza so far. It's different type of crust that I have and love the taste. The staff is very friendly and makes it feel welcoming. The restaurant is family friendly and dog friendly which is one of my favorites parts . The Detroit pizza is thick and crispy and has a good flavor to it.

Found this place via "Pizza Wars" a pizza crawl around downtown! This place is a relatively new and hidden gem near the trolly line. Completely unexpected! The area isn't the best but the P&P make up for it! (Pizza and People ;). The restaurant is small but clean and well organized with a few booths for seating and also an outside area. Their main style is Detroit (so thick crust) but they also make a thinner crust if that's more your thing. I love thin NY style and my hubs loves thick so it's the perfect balance for us. The woman at the front (forget her name) is the absolute sweetest human. She always greets us and makes recommendations. Last night we learned we can create our own slices for the same price- which I was ecstatic about since I love a good veggie and they ran out of when we arrived. We ordered a slice of the Haverhill, Danvers (thin) and a Pontiac (thick). Everything was delish and I especially appreciate the heavy veggies on my slices! The quality is also top notch- and cannolis and cookies amazing. Thank you Square!!

Difficult parking 4 sure. Clean and friendly. Unfortunately 4 me, the crust was hard to chew, hard like a rock. One slice almost nine dollars. Would never return.

Saw that this place won an award for best pizza on Instagram so had to check it out. Came here on Sunday so plenty of street parking, went in got greeted, great service, the guys behind the counter were attentive and knew their stuff, very welcoming restaurant. Went for with some friends and ordered 8 slices of the thin crust pizza, pepperoni and jalapeño, the crust was perfectly crisp, jalapeño's were fresh and you could taste the quality of the pepperoni. We also ordered the Detroit style Pontiac 2.0, I highly recommend this pizza to anyone that enjoys deep dish. It wasn't as heavy or doughy as some places make it. It was truly a deep dish, light, flakey crust and the pepperoni cups were cooked perfectly. My own personal preference was I would have liked a little more oregano flavor on the pizza but overall, I give this place a 9 out 10 stars. Job well done chef. And to anyone on here complaining about the ambiance and it being on the trolley tracks, sit inside where there's plenty of seating and window watching. It's a clean restaurant and good food!!

Wonderful pizza. My husband and I loved the fluffiness of the dough. Also, the portion sizes were huge! The picture below isn't two slices...it's one slice cut in half. Service was great, quick and simple. The atmosphere was pretty quiet overall, however the dining space was on the smaller side. We visited at a downtime and found parking on the street but it wasn't easy. I would highly recommend this place for the quality and the price of your meal.

Parking is pretty tough here. got a pepperoni detroi slice and a sicilian slice. portions are big here. 2-3 slices for 2 people would work. the bread was reallly well done. airy, light feel. not exactly what i gravitate towards for pizza but a respectable slice.

Square Pizza has been serving a variety of square style pizzas since 2016, and now with this new beautiful fast and casual pizzeria in East Village, San Diego and its surrounding communities. Square Pizza offers Detroit, Sicilian, Thin Crust or "Beach Pizza," not to mention gluten-free and vegan. Oh yes, you can also buy these frozen pizzas and bake them at home. Oh yes! They also offer amazing Brazilian cheese balls and cannolis. I had my favorite Sicilian Pepperoni and the Sicilian Bianca slice. They were both delicious. I loved that they both had a crunchy buttery crust and came with a generous amount of toppings. The pepperoni sliced came with beautifully cupped pepperonies, Grana Padano Italian parm and Wisconsin Grande Mozzarella Cheese. The red sauce was terrific and I loved the fresh basil on top. The Bianco was meatless, but came with the same cheeses above with the addition to the fluffy ricotta cheese. I loved the olive oil and the fresh basil. They were both great slices. The service at the counter was upbeat and super friendly. The pizza display looked amazing with all the square pizza available. It's a great set up. They have a lot of terrific choices to choose from.

This place is a great place to go grab a slice at a good price. This pizza looks a little messy in the photo, but that's because it was super fresh and hot (as usual). One slice is really like two slices, and now there's beer on tap! Staff is always friendly and they look like they like their job (not always the case these days so that's nice). My go-to is the Chicago Style Dodge. What's Chicago Style? A Focaccia-like rustic dough with a crispy crown of caramelized cheese, sauce on top in two "racing stripes" (unless otherwise noted), always finished with parmesan & oregano. The crust is perfect, crunchy around the sides and across the bottom. The Dodge has those dollops of ricotta on top - SO GOOD! Filling and affordable. There's a fridge there too so you can get sodas and beers to-go! They even have that yummy Brazilian soda that I can't pronounce, lol! Enjoy!

It was my first time here cause I live around the block! It's nice and spacious inside. They kept it clean! Service was fast and friendly. I've been wanting another pizza spot to open in the neighborhood. I think $8 for a slice of pizza is wild. The pizza slice is a big slice thought so I guess I can understand! The pizza was good but nothing spectacular.

Square Pizza is conveniently located right off the trolley tracks on Park Blvd in East Village. The area around the tracks can be a little shady, but this particular spot wasn't bad. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and my son loved watching the trolley from the window while enjoying our pizza inside. They had a sign outside for happy hour every day from 2-6pm, which included discount beers and pizza slice combos. I asked how the slices work and the cashier didn't mention anything about the combos for HH so that was a bit disappointing. They also didn't post prices on the large menu, so I have no idea what I actually paid for the slices. Detroit style slices are very large and I think must be around $8-9 each. You can also buy them frozen for a slight discount ($7). They also have thing crust style, which we got for my son and the crust was crispy and pizza much lighter than the thicker focaccia Detroit style. The Detroit style was great, but expect it to be a bit heavy due to all the bread. I was a bit disappointed in the selection of slices. They have tons of options on their menu if you are ordering a whole pizza, but not everything is available for slices. There were really only two available that my husband and I were remotely interested in, so we both got the same thing instead of our typical ordering different things so we can try more. We ordered the Hellcat and the Dodge. The Hellcat was the clear favorite. My husband really didn't enjoy the dodge and I thought it was ok. The Detroit style has a crispy crust and crispy cheese on the outsides and soft inside. The hellcat was tasty with the crispy pepperoni cups and hot honey. The dodge had ricotta, mushrooms, and spinach with red sauce. Mine could've been heated a bit longer as well. Overall good pizza and I'm sure great if you are ordering a pie to go. I would give it another shot or also try the frozen take and bake slices.

We came across Nonna's, and since I had always wanted to try it, we decided to give it a chance. The hostess was very sweet and seated us quickly, which was a great start. We ordered the calamari and two pasta dishes--one with truffle mushroom sauce and the other with braised pork. The calamari was okay, but it mostly tasted like breading and didn't have much flavor beyond that. The truffle mushroom pasta had a good sauce, but the pasta itself was very bland. Honestly, the pasta tasted like something you could buy at a grocery store and heat up at home. My boyfriend's pasta was okay as well, but neither of us felt like the dishes had much flavor, and the portions were on the smaller side. Unfortunately, the service was probably the biggest disappointment of the night. Our waiter came over, dropped off the water, and shortly after came back to take our order. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so we were surprised by how unfriendly and rushed he seemed. There was no smile, no attempt at conversation, or even a general sense of warmth. What really stood out to me, though, was watching him interact with another couple who were seated outside on the patio. He was completely different with them--smiling, laughing, chatting, and being very personable. At one point, my boyfriend politely asked if he could order a whiskey sour. When the waiter brought the drink, he literally slammed it down on our table, which honestly caught both of us off guard. I then watched him bring the other couple two glasses of wine, gently place them on their table, and do so with a smile. After that, the only other time he came back to our table was to rush us to take our plates. I completely understand that everyone has bad days, and I'm not someone who expects over-the-top service but I have worked in the food industry myself for many years so I do expect at least basic friendliness and hospitality--especially when you can clearly see that the same server is capable of providing it to other guests. For reference, our waiter was bald and wore glasses. He never told us his name. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try Nonna's, but unfortunately, neither the food nor the service left us wanting to come back. There are so many other restaurants with better food, portions, and hospitality that I would personally choose somewhere else for our next special occasion.

The whole hostess staff had great smiles on their faces and they were very welcoming. After about two minutes of sitting down, our server came to ask us if we needed time to look over the menu. We said yes but that we wanted a Foccacia Bread table starter. She smiled and immediately went to put the order in. A few few minutes later she came back and we ordered our drinks for dinner: Raspberry Italian Soda, Orange Crush with Fresh Cream on top, and a non-alcoholic spritz. After we got our drinks and sip on them, it took us a bit of time to decide what we wanted. We all know that the burger here is fantastic! However, this evening, we decided to try new things. We ordered: Pappardelle Bolognese with Added Meatballs, Pappardelle Bolognese as it is normally prepared, and a Caesar salad with shrimp added. Our food was out within about 10 to 15 minutes and everything was prepared perfectly. I have to say that we really enjoyed dining in this location and we may need to come back here more instead of traveling to the Del Mar location sometimes. Our server was super customer service oriented and we appreciated her. She went above and beyond to get the orange crush drink to be unique like an Italian soda for my daughter. We were super stuffed and could not do dessert, but we did promise to come back to enjoy the lava cake at a future time. Overall, this was an excellent visit and we appreciate the staff in the great energy that we received at this location. I do highly recommend it.

We always obtain a bunch of Seaworld tickets that always ends up expiring since we don't use them…read moreso my Son decided to call his friends and go, but before going I decided to treat them to DAVANTI ENOTECA . We ordered the following: * FOCACCIA DI RECCO w/ side of HONEY COMB *CACCIO E PEPE w / jumbo SHRIMP & STEAKS *BRANZINO AL SALMORIGLIO * PAPPARDELLE GAMBERRI * RISOTTO CARBONARA *GELATI E SORBETTI *CHEF'S CHARCUTERIE * ESPRESSO MARTINI * CARNE PIZZA As I read on some other yelp review, their FOCACCIA DI RECCO with side of HONEY COMB is so good. Looking at it, it doesn't look that much good, but omg when I tried a slice omg, as in omg it's delicious! I reccomend you guys not skip this, order this FOCACCIA DI RECCO My ESPRESSO MARTINI came, it's good, same as any other Espresso drink I've had in any other restaurant. The CHEF'S CHARCUTERIE was good, I love everything on it. For their CARNE PIZZA , I was not a big fan of it. All of the PASTAS tasted good. Only one of my son's friends ordered a burger the DAVANTI BURGER and he said it was really a good one, the burger meat patty was not dry and was very tasty. I love BRANZINO , and I always get them when I see them on a restaurant Menu, but omg this BRANZINO AL SALMORIGLIO was sooooo Salty !!! I believe that this was just probably one of those Kitchen errors for the day and someone double salted it, but without too much salt this would probably be a very good one. I don't usually order Grilled or Fried Artichoke 'coz I have bad experiences with them, always end up with a hard or chewy one, but here their FRIED ROMAN ARTICHOKES was so soft and well seasoned. For dessert we had ICE CREAM pistachio, salted caramel ,cappucino , lemon , raspberry , and it was okay. The service was great here. Other than our server, a bunch of different servers kept coming to check on us too or helped our server to pick up our done dishes. The food here was Hit or Miss, but we're definitely coming back to try for more to discover what other good foods they have here.
