Pizza is average at best, seemed to be blanks of a Celeste crust? Not horrible but not great. The toppings were uneventful and full of greasy. The guys were very hungry, so we all ate it. Been here twice now and probably wont return. There are certainly more attractive restaurants! It was a time warp walking into this place...what? just pizza? No salads or grinders. I used the bathroom and it just made...clean enough. Nostalgic of 1980 in not a nice way. Wake up, time to invest some money in your establishment guys. read more

Any local of Biddeford or Saco will tell you the best pizza in the area is Alex's Pizza, or as their large classic 1960's neon sign states; Pizza by Alex. This family run pizza joint has been here forever. I remember my Dad getting pizza here to take home 40 years ago. It was the best then and still is now. Alex passed away a few years back, but it's still family owned and operated. The pizza is greek style and is baked and served in individual size pies of about 10" or 11". They make their own dough fresh, and the topping choices are numerous. Their red sauce is always consistent and delicious and the crust has just the right amount of crisp and chewiness. I always get mine topped with pepperoni, green peppers and mushrooms and it's perfect everytime. Whenever I'm back in Maine visiting friends and family, we always make it a point to have some Pizza by Alex! I've been going to Alex pizza (that's what we call it) since I can remember, I think I had my first pizza there when I was maybe 5 or 6 haha. They are old fashioned and their pizzas are super personal. What makes them even better is having them cooked in the old oven, that said the new one isn't bad either but the old gives it a certain personality and flavor. read more

Good for what it is: "old fashioned," no frills, pizza joint. Friendly & quick service. We really liked that the only size offered means we got individual pizzas. Wow!! I feel pulled in different directions here! On one hand their pizza is pretty good but massively expensive for what you actually get and I can't believe that in 2016 with a personal pizza costing nearly $10 that the place is actually too cheap to take debit-credit cards! I think the pizza is generally excellent but it is way, way too expensive for what you get. The toppings are wildly overpriced. The "one size" pizza they force you to buy is disproportionalely crust, to the exclusion of cheese and toppings. They are running the place for their convenience, not yours, and that's not what pizza places ought to be. Also, you are forced to play the "Alex" game, in that if 4 people capable of eating more than 4 dinky little pizza go there to eat, you realy need to stagger your orders. You do not want to order 6 minis for 4 people up front. If you do the last two that will get split up ( so you all can approach being full) will be pretty cold. Fine. It's Alex's place and you play by Alex's rules. What ever happened to the customer is always right????? Where I come from ( The NY Metro Area) cooled down pizza slices left from a large pizza are routinely popped back in the oven. Try that at Alex's and see what happens. Not! Once it is out of their little pan, it's yours and they won't deal with it. So quality to me is excellent, quantity can mean getting what you want despite their system, and value is not why one goes there. read more

We tried this last night for the first time and I must say....eh, it was just ok. Good crust but nothing to write home about. The way everyone talks about it, you'd think it would be spectacular. Well, hate to break it to ya, it's not! I think all the talk is just that....talk. Pizza = very good. Price = very good. The only downsides to this place are 1.) cash only, and 2.) limited menu. But, I suppose that if you only do one thing, you better do it great and the pizza is just that. I had the kalamata olive and Yaya's greek pizzas. They were both really good. University of New England is one of the worst decisions I ever made. With the exception of a few choice friends, Pizza by Alex is the BEST thing to come of UNE. Well I just had another Alex Pizza on Friday night. I will have to agree with my friend Heather G. That pie has to be cooked in the old oven. Another point I do agree on is the interior does need to be updated. But the do have making the pie down to a science. They will make it the way u like and I have never had to complain about a pie I have bought there. I have been going there for as long as I can remember. I grew up eating Pizza by Alex and I started my daughter eating "ok she would gum a cool slice of mushroom extra cheese" at a nice 7 months old. I myself love roni & onion old oven well done. One or two extra tips if you didn't know. 1. You can order a pie half cooked and then take it home and finish cooking it later to your liking. 2. You can order and have your pies half cooked and mailed to you. Yes they will ship you your pies. Ok make it a third! They will also half cook your pies package & freeze them. So you can enjoy them any time you want. So you can use my advise or not. It's a free world for you to choose. Hope you enjoy the pies as much as we do. read more

The best bar-room style (although they don't serve alcohol) pizza north of the Town Spa in Stoughton, Mass. Always part of our dinner plans when we vacation in Saco. Sometimes they get too busy to answer the phone, so go down and order in person. It's worth the wait! Personal favorites are the mushroom & onion and the pineapple (it cuts the grease). Alex Pizza. I grew up on it. Sorry to say I am not happy with them anymore. Seems like they did something different with the sauce and the crust is definately not what I remember. The cheese is oily and unfortunately four out of five times the cheese is burnt and just comes off in one stick to the roof of my mouth bite. Also pricey for a small personal size pizza. Like I said I grew up on Alex Pizza. Saying this feels like saying there is no Santa Clause. I am on the hunt for a new favorite pizza place in Biddeford. read more
