This is a new addition to the Naples-style pizza family here in Vienna and it has succeeded in becoming one of the very best of the brood.
I spoke with one of the owners (who also runs a cool outdoor furniture store next door) and he confirmed that every person involved with the place is from Naples. This showed in the care and quality of the pizza, but I wouldn't necessarily say that being from Naples had anything to do with the slightly confused service staff. To be fair, it was the first week they were open and the people involved barely spoke German or English -- which made me totally happy.
The beverage assortment was adequate and reasonably priced. The pizzas were of that unique Naples quality with a fine, flavorful and chewy crust that had just enough crispness on the edges and spring in the bite. The tomatoes were definitely flavorful and perfectly proportioned. The toppings were all of high quality except for I have to demote slightly for the cow milk mozzarella they used on the basic pizzas. I know it can't always be the bangin' buffalo milk mozzarella, but this particular cheese they used had a distinctly flavorless character. I hope they'll change it.
I would say that this place has slotted into #2 for pizza in Vienna as of summer 2015. They are ahead by a margin of the "Mari/Volante" empire, and slightly behind Riva. Definitely worth a visit, although you should probably book because the restaurant is small and, I hope, will be extremely popular. read more
