A delightful little corner sandwich shop with gourmet soups and sides…read more I stopped here for a quick bite in Windsor with my family before we took the VIA train to Toronto. There are other businesses nearby, but street parking was free and relatively easy to come by. It's a fast-casual concept place, where you order at the counter then go sit. Not a large restaurant, but maybe room for 20ppl at about 5 tables. I ordered a half sandwich, half salad combo which also comes with a small side (soup or fries). This lunch combo was the most popular option amongst my party and made for a nice balanced meal with everything you could want to taste. The menu is a little heavy on the meat options with just a few select vegetarian items - but as the name Carvery indicades, this is a meat-centric place. Overall I'm giving the food a 10 out of 10. The sandwiches were well made and better than anything you could find at a chain fast-casual restaurant. The sweet potato soup was delicious and well presented. The arnold-palmer lemonade tea combo was great. The "hot bacon" dressing on my salad was indeed hot and made with real bacon. I shouldn't have been surprised - but I was. What a great twist on salad dressing. I'd definitely come back here to try more of the menu. It was all delicious.

After peering in and seeing people in there I realized that it was still open for business! The menu is entirely on the wall and you order and pay at the cash. Lots of combo options including whole or half sandwiches plus soup and/salad combos. Unfortunately all combos came with a drink and I would have preferred just tap water and maybe a slightly lower price. I got whole chicken sandwich plus garden salad and a Diet Pepsi for about $20. Feels a bit pricey for Windsor. Sandwich wasn't bad but a bit too much bread for me. I could have been fine with smaller surface area but piled up a tad thicker. Chicken was moist and sauce and the cheese and roasted peppers went well with it. Salad was fine except the balsamic was overpowering. Flavour was too strong or maybe there was just too much dressing. I wasn't floored but it was ok. I'd go back to try a different flavour.

Top 10 in the country maybe. Unassuming interior with friendly people including the owner who was there that day. He got out a special wood and hook game for my son and I to play that which so thoughtful - and it was fun! Food came out in a good amount of time - not too fast, not too slow. We got to enjoy the restaurant as people came and went while we enjoyed conversation with the staff and each other. Now the food. I can't recall all we ordered but we did overdo it knowing that we wouldn't be back in the area soon and it had been in our list to try. The owner said he was inspired by Watercourse in Denver and if you've ever been there, you'll feel right at home here. Food was as good as Watercourse while putting unique items on the menu like seitan wings which I cannot find another place that does them well or at all. Dry tub available to boot! Must try, then try again, then again. Top tier service, good, and passion to do good food. Can't say enough good things. Go now.

We crossed…read morethe border from Detroit, which we were today years old when we found out that you could reach Canada specifically Windsor Canada, which is where this place is located by taking a five minute drive either across a bridge or underground. Her waitress was super pleasant and she explained to us the options as this was a 100% plant based and one thing about being in a Canadian Restaurant is you have to be aware of exchange rates and the waitress was very helpful in providing that information. The ambience of the restaurant was very nice and our food came out within about 15 minutes of our order which was great. I went with the plant-based Gyro, which used wheat gluten for the lamb meat and the taste was spot on compared to when I used to eat that type of lifestyle. Our daughter got tofu tacos, which were flavored very well and my wife got the jackfruit tacos, which she enjoyed. Pricing for the three of us was not bad at all, especially with the exchange rate and we will definitely be back. This place is great for families. Staff are very friendly and the food was definitely on point flavor wise.

The salad was stuffed into this little bitty puppy bowl and it was a tad annoying with lettuce pieces falling out of the bowl as I was trying to mix it with the dressing in this cramped bowl! Aside from that, this is a cool spot though once you figure out how to get in and find your way to the seating. It has the feel of being in someone's old basement, but not in a bad/grimey way. One cool thing is the various options for seating: patio, upper level, main floor. The server was cool. It was pretty empty and it seemed that she was wearing dual hats of server + hostess. She was polite and efficient and most importantly didn't check on me a dozen times. There really is no need to (for refills anyway) when you serve beverages in mason jars;-) I had the chicken gyro with the wedge fries. The fries were really good, tasted like home. The pita was very fresh and the chicken in my gyro was perfectly tender. Searching thru the menu was kind of overwhelming. It is a book and offers Mexican, wraps, items "from the wok", BBQ ribs, lasagna. Pretty much whatever random dish, sampling from whatever corner of the world is what the menu consists of. And of course burgers and wraps. The variety is great and all, but just when you think you know what you want, there is another page. There were 15 categories of food items! This place is indeed kinda awesome considering all the items that they offer and the food was decent. I liked the atmosphere with the funky blues music playing in the background... The self-serve checkout for credit cards was also pretty convenient as well. ... I'd go here again.

I especially liked how they had vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options! I ordered the chick p burg with their vegan wham sauce and it was good! For a gluten free bun, the bun was soft and tasty. Usually GF buns that I've had are on the not so soft side, but I liked how it actually had flavor to it as well and it didn't feel like my mouth was getting dry just trying to chew it lol. The Chickpea patty was tasty too! Their fries with the garlic aioli was also a hit as well! The service while ordering was very patient as we had a lot of questions for it being our first time and she explained everything so politely. They even bring out your food right to your table when it's finished and they're attentive as well! It was clean and organized and not too crowded on the inside and it wasn't loud at all. We went with family and it was a nice environment to bring them in for a fast food type of restaurant. We would come back here again!
