I'm appalled at the Low rating here. Not only do they have great bartenders, reasonably priced drinks, but the food is bomb!! You want a juicy burger that won't break the bank, bam, done! How about some cheesy fries with Buffalo sauce? Gotcha fam! Oh feeling flatbready, they have it handled! Don't want it wild, show up before 10pm and it's mellow. Went here last Friday night and didn't exactly like the vibe. I asked the DJ if he could play 1 song about 7 times and he totally dismissed me. I believe his name was Devin or Kevin. Drinks are overpriced, music wasn't great, and there was a fight outside at 8:00pm. Not a good place for "a night out" my only regret is I can't give this place 0 starts, just 1 star. read more

I've never really had a bad experience till Friday August 16th when one of the security guards literally pulled me out to the side while dancing, walked me all the way outside and asked to recheck my ID, he asked if it was real he spent like 2-3mins examining my ID after I had been already walked in 10mins before and he wasn't even the one that had checked my ID in the first place. He had me show him proof that it was me with 3 different identifications and never have I ever had problems with my ID or anything like that before. It was really rude of him I don't recall his name I just know that he was an older Caucasian security guard. This was really embarrassing and rude for no reason. He could've handled this better and looking at the reviews it's happened to a couple people before. DONT waste your energy and time coming here. Very discriminating, racist and rude, not worth it! I came here with my friends and some rude bitch at the bar was being mean to my sister and my girlfriend and told them to move out of the way and rolled her eyes at them cause there was other people behind us that wanted to order. I'd prefer a place that didn't take my biometrics at the door. I went there on Saturday to meet up with friends, and was really put off by their new system that scans your photo ID and then the doorperson points a camera at your face to take multiple scans before giving you the ok to get in. Sorry, Big Brother, but you won't catch me ay Pixels any longer. They never asked for permission to do that, and I have no clue which private tech firm they got their technology from or with whom who they're sharing my data. Meanwhile another security came and kicked him in the head while he was down. And to make matters worse, My female companion who wasn't even in the altercation, was yelling for Security bouncers to relax on the poor guy because it was excessive force and got hit in the face herself from same bouncer for no particular reason besides question why? If the people from last night or future endeavours are reading. In terms of the law, security is not allowed to touch you. They have to ask you to vacate the property. If the patron refuses, law enforcement needs to be called to escort the patron out of said establishment. So essentially you have a claim on the bouncers that inflicted you bodily harm. Chances are, these securities don't have the royalties to pay for such legal claims. This then turns into a negligance claim against Pixels Bar. These guys were way out of line and deserve to be punished. Hear me out.. I just had the most incredible experience at this quirky little bar. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a good night. I'm not sure what the girls name is with the blue hair, but in the short time we hung out on the patio she was given so much grief just for doing her job. People get all pissy about getting their fake id's confiscated but rules are rules. Can't play no games around her. She's doing her job and stopping minors from making bad decisions. I don't know why the reviews for Pixels are so low! The prices are right on drinks, Mustache Monday makes them even cheaper, and the bar food is actually bomb. I ordered a half sandwich with mac and cheese for $7 (tax included!) and it was so worth it! They also have a really affordable HH menu, with no single item over $8. Everyone who talked to me and my friend was really nice and super helpful. We sat down with menus, and someone came up to us to let us know to order our food at the bar, since it was pretty obvious it was our first time there (lmfaooooo). Our bartender was really nice too, and he answered all my stupid questions about pricing and what Stella Cider was without sounding rude or condescending. I could go on, but yeah, everyone was so nice to us! The music was really loud, but I mean, it's a bar, so I didn't really expect peace and quiet. In my quest to appreciate and get to know this town, I stopped here. Pixels is probably my favorite bar in Riverside because they've played Brit-pop here before and it's small, intimate and laid back. It brought back fond memories of the old Club Underground that use to take place way back in the day at Tempest on Santa Monica Blvd. They have a few good beers on tap and I think a full bar. You could go wearing your jeans and shirt and listen to good music and have a good time. I don't believe you'll find ratchets with short dresses and kids they left at home, here. This place sucks, is sketchy, and gives off sketchy vibes. I would def. check your tab before paying, be careful if your a woman, and avoid if you dont want to be harrassed by racist white people. Pixels is a hit or miss. Come on a weekday and You'll only hear crickets. Come on a weekend and surprisingly Riverside is pretty crowded. Pixels is really small and gets really hot inside. It leans more toward the hipster vibe type of feel. However, the drinks are way over priced for what they serve at other bars near by. I've been to Pixels and had a blast. Outdoor/patio seating and I don't know what else to call them at the moment, but there are booths/loveseats on the right side when you walk-in. In addition, there are a few random tables with chairs and of course a bar to sit. The people were extremely nice and you could tell a few of them are regular customers. One person was dancing, so you can only imagine the space. TV's on almost all corners. Bartenders: Extremely nice! OMG. I love it when bartenders are not douches and just want tip. I think tip is a collaboration. One of the bartenders is a bit older, but you can tell he is experienced and the younger bartender was super funny! This place is a joke. Came here on a Saturday night and couldn't get in because of a sports team affiliated shirt. Fine, I understood and i didn't even challenge the guy, I even offered to turn it inside out, but he said that wasn't good enough. Something along the lines of, "cant have any sports teams inside at all." Understood. So I walked all the way back to my car and changed so I could get back inside and meet with my friends. When I got back in line the guy in front of me was wearing a baseball cap and he got past the same security guy no problem. I was going to bring it up to the security, but I didn't because I didn't want him to take it the wrong way and ultimately not let me inside where my friends already were. He even thanked me for taking it off and coming back so I was like ok cool. But once I made it inside I realized how much of a joke this place really is. Every other guy inside was wearing a sports cap. Probably half a dozen or so teams, three different sports leagues. Please someone make it make sense. I thought nothing related to sports teams could make it in?! If you're going to enforce a rule, why did it seem to only apply to some people? Borderline discrimination if you ask me. I would give 0 stars if I could. I came with my girlfriend and a friend and, while waiting in line, security informed us we could not enter. We asked why but they said they didn't need to give a reason (looking at other reviews, it seems they discriminate against non-white people). Security became extremely aggressive and one of them began to shove us while we tried to remain as complicit and calm as possible. We were not inside or blocking any path so they had no reason to be physical. Security are not suppose to put their hands on you unless in self defense. I ended up with a bruise on my elbow and my girlfriend received a badly bruised toe. We called cops to press battery and assault charges but when they arrived we couldn't identify the assailant (he disappeared inside the bar). From reading reviews on here, it seems they do this often. If this happens to you, make sure to grab the name of the security who touches you and then file assault and battery charges on him. read more

The food at this bar is the BEST bar food I've ever had. Fried avocado tacos and blue cheese burger are my favs.

I was buying some drinks for me and my friends I got 3 drinks for $27 and I chose not to tip the bartender. I was then told "wow no tip I'm going to remember that. I don't have bills to pay anyways" so I walked off without minding the rudeness. Then later when I went to buy a drink again the same bartender walked around the bar to ask the other person behind me what they wanted. I then told her I was first she said she would not help me because I was "rude" I quote. But solely because I did not tip her. So I told the security what happened, she saw me talk to him and she walked up to talk with him aswell. When they finished I told him she's mad because I didn't tip her, then they asked me to leave. When I asked their names to report them to upper staff/management they said don't worry about it. Remind you, tips are not required and no bartender should be disrespectful and demand a tip saying "wow no tip". I've always liked this bar. It's nothing amazing, but I think it's a great free spot to take your friends, meet new people, or just have a drink yourself. I've done all of the above and am always glad Downtown Riverside has this place to offer. It's always the place that others I meet from Riverside remember, and I think that speaks to its uniqueness. Sometimes they have cool lil nights like karaoke or video game nights, but overall I think it's kind of it's own kind of gem. Pretty chill staff and great memories. WORST BAR I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I only had my passport ID on me and THEY TOOK IT AWAY? They told me I would get fined for using MY own ID and that they had to call the Riverside Police Department. This is MY passport ID and now I don't have it anymore. The blue hair girl just took my ID away and didn't give me an explanation. The guy next to her was completely useless. Why did they feel the need to threaten me with the police? Is it cause I'm brown? I went back TWICE to see if they would at least mail it back to me and the useless guy didn't even know what could be done. Pixels completely ruined why Friday night. If you are planning on having a nice night out, absolutely do not go to Pixels. It is currently 2:47am and instead of enjoying time with my significant other, I am writing this review. My girlfriend and I arrived at pixels around 10 pm, and we spent the rest of the night there, enjoying ourselves and dancing. A little after 1am I decided to close my tab. I had had 3 whiskey sodas (4 if you count the one I spilled and the bartender agreed to give me a replacement free of charge...) and 1 beer, My girlfriend had three Screwdrivers. When I went to pick up the tab they tried to charge me double my tab. After I attempted to ask them why they doubled my tab all three bartenders came up and accused me of buying drinks for people I don't know, I told them I would gladly dispute the charge with my credit card, but they then refused to give me my divers license even after I told them that they could keep my credit card and I would pursue the matter civilly. They kept telling me to "call the cops then" and so I asked for the number for the non emergency line from a security guard, and I called the police. They agreed it was reasonable to at least give my license back, but the bartender still refused. At this point the police officer said it was a civil matter and even made an agreement with me that I would be able to drive back to the bar to dispute the charge due to the bar staff refusing to give me my identification back by police order tomorrow, since the bartender would not comply. (at this point I am rather sure the bar staff overstepped their bounds by refusing a lawful order by a police officer.) I own an automotive dealership and attend dealer only auctions almost daily, and so by them keeping my identification, they are restricting me from being able to do my business as a dealer, and are actively impeding on my ability to feed my family. I would like to ask the owner of Pixels, business owner to business owner, is this an appropriate way to treat your customers? If I had had as many drinks as the staff accused me of (before flipping their story to buying other people who they could not even identify drinks, after seeing I was coherent enough to obviously not have had over 8 alcoholic beverages) If I had really had 8 drinks in three hours, would I be able to write this coherent of a review at 2:58 am the night that they accused me of having a "blackout" amount of drinks? I think not. I can only advise those of you not to go to pixels on a weekend, as the bar staff apparently has free rein to make up your tab to whatever they want. I am planning on speaking to the operations manager tomorrow to see how they were able to allow such egregious and unacceptable service as well as training their bar staff to ignore lawful orders from police officers. As a former state inspector I feel that the ABC should definitely enforce additional regulations on this business, as they are obviously not compliant to simple standards and stand against lawful orders from Riverside county Sheriffs. I look forward to speaking with the manager and business owner further on the matter. Hopefully they can improve their service In the future. Edit: I spoke with the "Business owner" (I cannot verify the authenticity of her claims) the next day. They also tried to keep my ID and tell me it was illegal for me not to pay them the amount they decided I owed. She told me it was illegal that I did not sign and it was the same as leaving without paying. I pointed out to her that they charged my card, I had checked my account and seen it, so I had paid plain and simple, I just did not agree to the fraudulent charges made so I did not sign, which is completely my right. After a long conversation in which I explained to them that if they have all the proof necessary, they can provide that to my bank and my bank will be able to sort it out. I was finally able to obtain my credentials back after that. She also tried to use the fact that if I paid her the full amount in cash she would take the charge off of my card, since it was a business card and she "didn't want anything to reflect poorly", as if I were afraid of someone seeing it, until I had to explain to her I am the owner of the business and so there is really no incentive for me to try to hide the charge. While we were wrapping up our conversation some regulars or employees came in who were visibly drunk came in and got drinks (this was 2pm on a Sunday) One of them just started angrily shouting at his phone until the manager I was speaking to had to tell him by name to quiet down. Very unprofessional establishment from the bartenders to the management. Definitely advise staying away from this place. Bar Rescue or the like needs to get in there and show them how to run bar. read more

We may not be the key demographic for this place (grown-ups over 25 ) but I've been to plenty of places that target college-students & are fun to go for drinks, fun & some dancing. This is not one of those places! I've bartended & cocktail-waitressed - all 3 places I've worked managed to attract (& keep) a wide-variety of ages & types. This place seems like the employees are fairly annoyed at having customers. I get that busy weekend nights can get rowdy or annoying, but if you're there to serve & earn tips, it's a good idea to be personable. Yes, employees seemed to be less terse once they saw my husband & I were a bit older than the typical crowd (& hey, I got carded, so that made me happy since we went w/my son & his GF who'd just turned 21) but they set a negative vibe from the get-go, which IMHExperience sets the tone for customers. Doesn't look like mgt reads or cares, but maybe once they want to stop attracting people based only upon cheap drinks they'll read some of these & work on customer service. We got ONE smile & welcome between security, getting in & trying to order a drink (5-6 employees). Having lived off of tips, I'm a big tipper because I feel their pain (check my reviews, I rarely give an overtly negative review & try to be understanding of bad days, but based on reviews, Mon-Sun seem to all be bad days...) but the 6 of us got one drink & left. We then spent more $ (& a few hours) having fun elsewhere! Note to Owners/Mgt: We spoke w/2 other groups of people, one in their early 30's of 4-5 & another group of college students (maybe 5-6 ppl?) who all experienced the same. Our group ALONE ended up spending over $300+ that night (b4 tip) & got home by 12:30 (had a babysitter for the little ones). Calculate that over the other 2 groups who also left (& were definitely the "close down the place" crew - FUN) and you'd benefit from addressing the negative attitude & vibe at your establishment! We don't get out often but when we do, we make a night of it. The people we met go out every weekend and said they won't be coming back... maybe watch a few episodes of Bar Rescue or try checking out some neighborhood establishments over a weekend in DTR and you'll see how valuable it would be to raise the bar and get people to WANT to stay! read more

Walked into a huge space with very little decor, some art pieces on the wall and A scanner darkly playing from a projector, blinding me in my eye at times. Not very busy so it was nice that I could order drinks right away, loved that they have a decent selections of beers including Oskar blues brewery, Stone brewery etc. Ordered shots also and the drinks were priced fairly. I was starving so I ordered the bacon wrapped mini dogs which came out quickly. The mini dogs were just okay ,super tiny and what I felt was not worth $8. The service was good , as far as bars downtown go I dont know about this place, I think the other places are a lot more fun to drink and hang out in personally. read more
