Based upon my experience, this is not the place to go for rib injuries like costochondritis. I had…read moretherapy here for 6 weeks and, while they were able to increase flexibility and strength, they really do not deviate from their playbook which did not include addressing my main problem and what brought me into the office to begin with. When, after about four weeks, I mentioned to Chip that I believed it was costochondritis, he was rather dismissive, even after I forwarded information to him about the condition. Well, if all you want to do is run your playbook, who needs a diagnosis? At that point I started to look elsewhere. Upon discharge, he admitted to me that they have not had as much success as they would like with rib and hip injuries. I would've preferred to hear that at onset. Also, I do not recommend spending the $1000 for their laser therapy. The results for me were extraordinarily temporary, despite being applied directly to the rib cage area during my tenure there.. 2025 Update: I was able to get significant relief from an out of state osteopath who specialized in OMT and was able to place the ribs back into place. Forget wasting your time, energy and money on practices that do little more than run their play book.

I was in incredible pain from sudden sciatica-like symptoms. I had gone to a physical therapist who…read morerecommended an orthopedic doctor. After multiple visits and a clean X-ray, they said I would need to come back several weeks later to explore the option of an injection. Meanwhile I could barely function and couldn't imagine waiting several more weeks for relief. I discovered Dr. Hennenhoefer upon recommendation from a colleague who had experienced chronic joint, connective tissue, and musculoskeletal pain, to go see an osteopathic muscular medicine expert. I hadn't heard of this sector of medicine before but as I read the description online, it sounded like exactly what I needed help with. His office makes it easy to make appointments - I was able to find an opening the same day (!!!) available to new patients (!!) that could do a diagnostic plus treatment intervention - all on the same day, which never happens within large healthcare systems, even with urgent care available. That day, I made the appointment, went in, and honestly within 24 hours my pain level went from a 9 out of 10 to a 7 out of 10 and within 3 days, I was down to a 4 or 5 out of 10! Honestly, he's a miracle worker. He has a deep understanding of how one area of the body can travel to another area and where to put pressure and release to feel relief across the system. He provided more in depth explanation of what was going on (with visuals!), why I was experiencing the issue, and exactly what to do and not to do (some of which was different or more nuanced than the typical advice given online or by physical therapists and orthopedics, like why I shouldn't heat the area for too long, and a better way to stretch and with less intensity and time). This was after ONE visit and I can't wait to return to continue the treatment plan.

My spasms continued to get worse in Raleigh, to the point that I was unable to sit, lay flat, dry my hair with a towel or turn my head. I found Dr.Hennenhoefer's office and called them. They were able to get me in the clinic within 2 hours. Dr.H treated my back and I felt immediate relief. I was given a triggered point injection. Dr.H gave me a muscle relaxer and exercise instructions to do at home. That night I was able to sleep without any issues. I have been improving on a daily basis and I am completely pain free. Dr.Hennenhoefer is a godsend. I highly recommend his clinic to anyone with musculoskeletal pains/aches and joint issues. I have been treated by many Osteopathic physicians and Dr.H is up there in terms of skill, bedside manner and treatment plan.

Appointments are dedicated to one patient at a time and they are both really awesome at listening to how your week went and applying that to the day's exercises. They do a really good job of matching you where you are at. This is both physically and mentally. Brittany has talked me through many worries when I was increasing my level of exercise and it was very reassuring. They are also really good at making recommendations for other providers (for example I needed a nutritionist and I needed to get fitted for proper shoes. They also gave me tips and hints on which gym is best for my needs.) I have nothing but good things to say! BEST PT definitely raises the standard for physical therapy.
