Beef Shoulder Taco and Chicken Thigh Taco
Stuart H.

Sometimes you need a quick lunch... but you still want quality food, not just junk.. ENTER PITTSBURGH TACO BOYS I placed my order online and was able to even pick it up a few minutes before the estimated time. The shop has ample parking on a side street in Oakmont and it is pretty simple to navigate too. As soon as you enter, you are greeted with the kitchen and employees. The smell is divine as the fresh meats, veggies, and cooking infuse throughout the entire place. They have a nice seating area for anyone who wants to eat at the restaurant. I took mine to go... I ordered the Chicken Thigh Taco, Beef Shoulder Taco, and Chips with Queso. The tacos were fresh with handmade, fresh tortillas. You can even taste the freshness of all of the salsas, sauces, and toppings. I devoured every bite! The queso was a little thinner than I'm used to, but it actually surprised me as to how good it was when dunking my chips and tacos. I work 10 minutes away and this place will be a go to for me and my coworkers from now on.

I knew I'd like this place as soon as I walked in. I came about 30 minutes before they closed and apologized and said I would hurry and he said no rush at all which I appreciated. They have a small area to order and a few bar stools to eat in one section and a much larger section up a few steps with pinball machines which is really cool. They have a variety of drinks including jarritos YUM and some jack worth ginger beer which i thought was nice for them to support other local businesses. I got my food to go. Chicken thigh tacos and a seasonal special. I believe it was a ramp steak taco. They were both stuffed with meat and toppings and really flavorful. I feel like the meat could have been bit more juicy but I did have to take it to go. In also got chips and queso that was good however I thought the chips were a little salty. Nothing a little wipe can't fix. 100% coming back and bringing my friends this place has nice portions at a decent price.

I love PGH Taco Boys, it's always super consistent. My biggest complaint every time is that the taco shells just fall apart. I only live 10 min away & pick up on time so it's not like they're sitting there forever to get soggy. I wish they did a double shell. Despite that, it's all still very good. I love the chicken thigh and ground beef tacos. We tried the party potatoes this time and they were SO good!

I stopped by Pittsburgh Taco Boys on a whim for a lunch while shopping nearby and I'm so glad I did. The food was excellent and the service was quick and kind.bibloved that they had boxes ready to turn my dine in into leftovers to go because my eyes were bigger than my stomach but I didn't want any to go to waste. I live on the opposite end of the city, but will make it a point to get back to Oakmont for this food!

Place is small but very clean and interesting. The service is very good and quick and very respectful. Food is delicious and tasty, burrito is big and packed and if you like beef tongue wow melts in your mouth.

Perfect place for a quick bite!! Got 2 chorizo tacos with chips and salsa and everything was great! The staff was so friendly & the food came out so quick! Very tiny space, but they have some bar stools against the wall to sit so it was perfect. Will definitely be back!!

Was craving some tacos and found Taco Boys on Yelp so decided to give it a try since it was close to my house and the pictures looked good. It's a small place with only a couple of stools/counter space to eat. We ordered at the window and our food was out pretty quickly. I got the three taco combo with chips and red salsa. I chose the chorizo tacos and I'm glad I did. They had a great flavor and I really liked the size of the tacos, definitely get a good portion size for what you pay for. The chips and salsa were pretty good. The chips reminded me of the chips from Moe's. Definitely recommend stopping in here for a lunch or quick bite to eat if you love Mexican cuisine.

I was in the area for work and needed a place to stop for lunch and wanted tacos. This spot was on my way and worked for me. I was greeted upon entry and was the only customer at the time. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and a bottle of water. My food came up in 10 min and it was delicious. I was able to sit inside and eat which was nice too. If I'm in the area again, I will stop in.

I got the boyrito with pork butt it was huge and delicious. I will definitely be going back to try the tacos. The guys are so nice!!

Great local spot for take out tacos! The spice level was mild, which I love, so that you can build your own heat with the sauces. I had the beef & cheese and chicken enchilada empanadas and my husband had the pork & pineapple quesadilla. We both loved our selection. The queso was delicious and the chips were fresh and perfectly crispy.

I got the viva sampler, and everything from the taquitos to the Mexican street corn tasted like cardboard. I took the chicken out of the taquito to see if maybe it was just the tortilla, no - it was just flavorless. The sauces it came with were the only things that were halfway decent. Then, my sister and I decided to split the flan and tres leches. Mistake numbers two and three. The flan was grainy and the tres leches has no flavor - where was the cinnamon the spices the sweetened condensed milk. Those were terrible. The mocktail was just overly sweet juice with no real thought or effort put into it. For $54 - I expect more. It's overpriced. It's flavorless. And the atmosphere was nonexistent. They're charging for nonexistent "vibes" and neon signs. Not worth it. The service was just okay. Plaza Azteca is the superior choice if given the option.

When my mom would visit from out of town, we would come here during my lunch break and she loved it so much that we hosted my baby shower here. The staff especially Gris did an amazing job decorating the space and providing top quality food and service. This is by far the BEST Mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh. At the shower we had sangria, agua fresca, quesadillas, fajitas, & taquitos. Everything was delicious and they provided a great space and even better service to accompany the amazing food. No one could stop eating and mentioning how delicious it was and how beautiful they made the space for us. I love this place & my family, friends & I will all be back!!!

An objectively biased review. The most positively biased review possible. "Oh no", you're thinking, "*Bias*? Not in MY 5-star rating system." It's true. I admit everything. I am biased by how genuinely great Tepache is. By how *good* their chips are--crispy and flaky and perfectly seasoned. By their price-to-portion ratio, which takes me back to The Before Times--before COVID and politics and 6 dollar gas prices. By the quality of everything they serve which I have tried. All of it is top-notch. And by the good people who keep the place running. This is the thing that is biasing my review the most. Tonight, after a Grubhub glitch dropped our order into a wormhole, they were incredibly gracious and kind and offered to make another *and then drove it out to us*. It made our night good and not-hungry instead of bad and hungry, and for that we are beyond grateful. 6/5 stars. No, wait: 7/5.

My default when I don't feel like being disappointed…read more @thepubat333 is that easy "let's just go to..." and no one argues it because it just...works. There's enough going on menu-wise that everyone figures it out, and I'm not exaggerating-every single time I've been there since they opened, someone at the table orders a French dip. Every. time. It's basically part of the experience now. Also if I see pierogi, I'm ordering pierogi. That's just who I am. Could've taken down the entire plate without blinking but I shared like a respectable adult (meanwhile mentally tracking which ones were supposed to be mine). It's just a laid back, neighborhood spot that doesn't try to be anything crazy and still ends up being exactly what you wanted. Fun fact: my friend and I once prank called from their landline, the owner immediately called back, we answered like nothing happened, and yeah...the phone was no longer an option for us after that

A family member got the Cobb salad, and they're brought it out with an enormous, and tasty, piece of chicken on top. Another family member got the Chophouse salad, and it came out with a huge hanger steak. Instead of fries, it had redskin potatoes and it looked almost like somebody put a salad together and cooked a roast to put on it. The only thing off was that it was requested to be medium, and it was seated nicely, but far closer to rare. We tried the oysters, and they were good. They came out with 3 sauces (cocktail, hot sauce, and cucumber mignonette). We tried the potato croquettes, and they're game with a slice of jalapeño and a spicy sauce. The croquettes were crispy on the outside and really airy on the inside. The jalapeño was a great touch as it added some bite that we all liked. I'd get this again. We tried the Burrata toast, and it consisted of four pieces that had an enormous ball of cheese. They were a group favorite. I'd definitely get it again. We tried the beef carpaccio, and it came out with a large portion of toast. I thought the beef was good, but I preferred it without the toast as it seemed to hide the beef flavor. I went with the seared salmon, and that came with grains and pickled onions. The salmon was cooked very well, and I feel like the grain, onions, and sauces gave it a unique flavor. I appreciated them doing something different. I got the broccoli as a side as I just don't see it as an option very often. It had a balsamic glaze, tomato, and it was cooked well. I also got to try some of their lamb chops, and the portion was huge. The lamb itself was good, but there was a spice on it that didn't seem to be equally distributed. You'd not taste it for a few bites, then you'd take a bite and this heat would kick in. It wasn't bad by any means, but it was enough that several of us noticed it. The lamb came with roasted carrots, and those were amazing. They are easily the best carrots that any of us had, and they're good enough that I think it's worth mentioning. One person got dessert, the crème brûlée, and she said she'd have been happy to have five more brought out, so it's a safe assumption that it was tasty. Lastly, the service was exceptional. I'm really sorry that I didn't catch her name, but she was great. With everything that was ordered, she handled it all well and she couldn't have been kinder. I'd definitely be good with coming back sometime in the near future.

Do not be scared of this restaurant's low average rating. Nearly all of these reviews are years old. My in-laws have eaten at this restaurant and have repeatedly told me that they really liked the good foods. In addition, my husband and I recently ate three entrees from this restaurant, and they tasted very good. The restaurant's menu lists appetizers (e.g., fried provolone, chicken quesadilla, pretzels with beer cheese, and spinach-artichoke dip), wedding soup, salads, wraps, entrees (e.g., chicken romano, chicken marsala, chicken parmesan, fish 'n chips, and pasta primavera), sandwiches, pizzas, desserts (e.g., chocolate-chip cookie skillet), and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. My husband and I arrived for dinner. A waitress promptly and courteously served us. My husband commented on how he liked the railroad-looking interior design. Here are my reviews of what we ate: BBQ Ribs - 4 stars - Dry-rub pork ribs were slow-roasted and covered in raspberry BBQ sauce. These ribs fell off the bone and tasted very good. They came with my choice of two sides, and I chose French fries and coleslaw, which I liked. Fettuccine Alfredo - 4 stars - Fettucine pasta and a flavorful alfredo sauce were topped with parmesan cheese and my add-on of shrimp. I choose a salad for my side. Large 12-cut Pizza - 4 stars - I chose toppings of mushrooms and green peppers. The cheese was not very gooey, and the crust was on the thinner side, but I liked this pizza very much. The total price for these three entrees was about $66 plus a tip. (Note that I have done a collab with this restaurant, but I paid *full price* for these foods and typed my honest opinion.)
