We went for happy hour and the food was incredible!!! The buffalo shrimp are giant and fried to perfection. The blue cheese on the side had big crumbles which I love. My husband wasn't brave enough for that quite yet but did get an aged sirloin - I'm not a big fan of wet-aged steaks so I opted for the prime rib sandwich. We also ordered table-sized individual sides of the loaded mashed potatoes and creamed corn. The server was great, super sweet, conversational and easy going! The food was pretty standard, nothing too special other than huge. My prime rib was super dry and the creamed corn wasn't that great. We were greeted warmly at the door and seated right away. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. Never leaving a glass of water half empty. Food- I had the queen cut prime rib, medium. It was cooked perfectly. A good cut of prime rib, what you would expect. Hubby had a cowboy ribeye with espresso/coffee rub - the steak itself was super tender, but I was not a huge fan of the rub. I have bad experiences in the past with wet aged steaks so i was a bit nervous but it exceeded my expectations. Ordered the sirloin cooked medium as a safe option and it was solid. I now feel comfortable to get a more rare cut (maybe even the Pittsburgh blue) and be satisfied. The mashed potatoes were amazing 5/5! And I like what they did with the creamed corn: it has a nice roasted flavor to it. The french dip was also delicious with the dip itself not being too heavy or dark. The food is great as usual but I am rating three stars for the following reason: 1) I found a piece of black wiggly long hair stirred in the pasta. It was gross. I was trying to flag for attention, which brought to the second point 2) the service was extremely slow. We visit the location during work day after Christmas and the restaurant was not busy. I am not sure if the restaurant was not stuffed properly but we did not see our servers came by very often. After the meal is done, we asked for our bill, it was a wait until the bill come and to gave the credit card right away and it was another long while for the card to be run. The wait time was painful. 3) wish any add on items that with extra charge suggested by the server is called out. I had high hopes for my first time here. Boy was I let down. To start, I've been a butcher for 12 years and a manager for 3. I know my steaks well enough. We arrived and were seated in a few minutes, that was nice. The staff was nice enough, but seemed slow at helping even though where we were was not a busy section. The appetizers to start, we got the loaded potato, mac and cheese, and hash brown with bleu cheese. The mac was good, the potato was good but the hash brown was disappointing. Mains, we all ordered the cowboy ribeye. 1st was ordered medium rare and was delivered with no pink what-so-ever 2nd was done correct 3rd was ordered blue but delivered medium at BEST 4th was ordered medium rare but was delivered less than rare, still semi cold in the middle. 5th was ordered rare, delivered rare, but ordered with the bone marrow butter. They left the wax of the butter on the steak. We informed the staff and the answer was "oh, oops". 6th(mine) was ordered rare and came back medium at best. I was also given an absolute loin end. Understanding, yes, the loin end of a bone in ribeye is still a bone in ribeye but in my shop, I don't put those out in my counter let alone a "nice" steakhouse. At the end of us eating, my steak i ate maybe 4 bites but was very disappointed. The WA came over to take some plates or box up our food. I told him that i would like mine boxed. He stood by for 10 seconds before I looked back to him. He stared back at me before finally asking "oh wait you wanted me to box this?" It felt very unprofessional and again, for a 'nice' steakhouse, it felt inappropriate. For dessert, they did give us cheesecake that was delicious. That's the only reason I gave a 2 star. Every time I order "medium rare" my steak always comes out medium ! There was a time I had to send the steak back 3 times! and it was still not he correct temperature. The problem is that every time they re-grill a steak for me they rush it and instead of getting a nice crust I get a BURNT CRUST !
