The customer service at this place is non-existant. Not only did I get a product im having issues with, nobody will talk to me! Whats the deal? Be very cautious, these are new owners , so these are not the same grills from the past that were bulletproof. Actually exact opposite. For some reason they still brag, very strange. I have a Maverick 850 that was purchased in April of this year. I have just upgraded my smoker with a new silicone nitride igniter. It works great. I had smoke in 2 minutes and full burning in 2.5 minutes. the new igniter is well worth the upgrade if you do a lot of cooking with your Maverick. Also Coy was great to deal with in helping me with everything I needed. I will recommend this smoke and service to anyone. It was great dealing with Coy at Pitts and Spitts from the first inquiry. They quoted what I wanted, worked with me on options, and built it to specifications in a short period of time. Shipping and packaging was outstanding and the product arrived on time and in great shape! The Maverick 2000 is a fantastic and large smoker, and I loaded it up and smoked away no problem! When you pay for something of this quality, you can see the value of A REAL AMERICAN MADE pellet grill smoker as soon as the crate is opened. Sure, it costs more than the standard big box store, but this one is heirloom quality. The metal is thick, well built, and hand crafted together. I anticipate electronics issues on all devices so I got some spare parts at the time of sale. However, their warranty is pretty good, and I registered the smoker on line. They threw in a cover after I proved my veteran's status. How can you beat that? read more

A few decades past due but better late than never. In the pictures below please observe the Pitts & Spitts grill we bought over 2 decades ago. It was for a BBQ aspect of our restaurant that came and went in a couple of years. From then on it was rarely used and always abused. We left it outside, uncovered year in and year out sun, rain, snow and worse. Resurrecting it once or twice a year for staff bbqs or as a loaner for a charity event or a wedding. But look closely and you'll see she's still handling the heat. If there were bbq police we would have drawn steep fines and possibly some jail time for what this grill has suffered.. They have a well built grill but the electric controls are junk! I paid 4000 dollars for a grill that doesn't work!! They don't have anyone in my area to fix it. They expect me to buy it and then fix it for them! Wouldn't recommend them! I guess it's part my fault since my brother also had to fix his after buying it. Should have taken the hint! The dealer is very well respected so I felt comfortable buying from him but I don't believe he realizes what he got into. read more

I purchased a Pitts & Spitts Ultimate Upright Smoker 15 years ago or so when living in Texas. I have since moved to the Chicago area and was looking to replace my cover purchased from Pitts & Spitts a few years back. The product literally fell apart and is by no measure acceptable. I shared this information with Pitts & Spitts (along with a photo) hoping they would stand behind their product and either replace or offer a discount to procure another cover. Unfortunately, they responded by stating they were not familiar with the fabric in the image. It is as if they are suggesting I am trying to take advantage of them, or worse, intimating that it may not be their product! I do not understand how any business can ignore customers request for help, and ACCOUNTABILITY. Any worthwhile business I've patronized ensure their customers they will deliver VALUE beyond the value of the core products they offer. THAT MEANS SERVICE AND ATTENTION TO CUSTOMER NEEDS. SADLY, MY EXPERIENCE WITH PITTS & SPITTS HAS FALLEN COMPLETELY SHORT OF THIS. I very much like my smoker, however, the manner in which they treat customers these days would lead me to recommend staying away from Pitts & Spitts. I purchased a Maverick pellet smoker in May of 2021. I generally like the product, but have had persistent issues with the thermostat. The grill runs about 20 degrees or so lower than the reading on the thermostat. This means when I smoke something at 200 overnight, it has, in fact only been cooking at 180 or less. I called Pitts & Spitts and their response was pretty astounding. First, they questioned whether I was correct about my measurement -- I told them I had tested it with two separate oven thermometers to confirm and an infrared gun. Then they said -- "well, 20 degrees off really isn't that bad -- just bump it up." While that may, in fact, solve the issue, they seemed completely unconcerned that the controlling device on their $2,400 grill did not work correctly. They said I could buy a new probe on their web site, but really did not express confidence that it would work significantly better. Not once did I hear -- sorry you are having this problem. I was pretty surprised and just thought the world should know. I purchased a new probe ($40 + $10 shipping) and will update this review if it solves the problem. read more

I have bought 2 smokers from them over the course of 20 years. The first rusted and couldn't be repaired and the second they wouldn't repair when there was a problem with the gas log lighter and a rusted drain valve. New owners--I would not buy again from them. Look elsewhere.. read more

Appears to not be a very professional business, at least for the average consumer anyway. Their website shows only one small picture of the pellet grill I was looking at, so I asked for more information. I got an email with, what was supposed to be two pictures, one of each model and a PDF flyer. I got one picture, upside down, of the larger model (which still doesn't show any detail of the controller, hopper, auger, firebox, drain, shelf, grates, diffuser plate, etc.) and the other picture was unviewable, along with a corrupt PDF flyer that was unopenable. I then attempted to call them via the phone number on their website. It is not accessible from Canada as the pre-recorded operator says to me. So, I check other phone sources and find another number through the Yellow Pages and Manta and call it. No answer and no description of who I'm calling. Looks to me like Pitts and Spitts doesn't want my business, or anyone else's because if they did, they'd answer their phones and respond to their emails quicker. After seeing some of the other reviews posted for Pitts and Spitts, I don't think I'll pursue this any further. I hear that customer support is awesome over at another quality grills site so maybe I'll head over there to get my smoker/grill instead. At this other place, even the owners give you their cell phone numbers so there is never a problem getting a hold of someone. read more

I was ready to order one of their grills, which priced around $2,800 before options. I called to place the order and I requested the all stainless and the guy tripled the price. He wanted $9,800 all in. He must have been looking for someone gullible. In the end, I will buy a TEC FR 44" stainless infrared grill and a Green Egg XL. I bought a new Pitt's & Spit's smoker in 1996 and it is still working and holding up well. I have only replaced the removable cover and one grill plate in over 20 years of use. It has a little rust in a few places but the metal is thick and the integrity is still solid. I would highly recommend one of their smokers. It makes the best ribs and brisket thst my family have eaten. read more

Do not waste your money on a Pitts and Spitts smoker. I purchased this Pitts and Spitts smoker in 1998 expecting that it would not only last my lifetime but also my children's lifetime. It is kept under cover and also covered with a tarp to protect it. I sanded and painted this pit about every two years with high heat paint. Every time I saw a rust spot I sanded and painted. But guess what it didn't rust from the outside in, it rusted from the inside out. I did not notice until grease started dripping from where the pit is welded to the firebox. I called Pitts and Spitts and they said they did not repair. But for around 500 they would clean up and make it look like new. What good would that do it would still have a hole in it. The metal was so thin it kept melting when trying to weld. Like all of Pitts and Spitts smokers it had a drain valve and I drained after each time I used it. I used it on the average of twice a year so that is about 34 times. I know people who have 400 dollar barrel smokers that are older than this. this pit and no problems. Seems things have turned around at Pitts & Spitts. I purchased one of their newly introduced Pellets Smokers in November of 2016. Ryan and his team have provided great customer service since the day I picked up the unit. The smoker itself has been great, it's much more heavy duty than other industry leading pellet smokers, cooks great, and is very sharp looking. I've always been a traditional offset smoker guy, but I really like this unit and use it often. I would recommend using Pitts & Spitts, give Ryan or any of his team a call. read more

Poor quality but great design. I have a four year old pit that The smoker door fell off and rust is all over. Rust is even on the smoker end were it gets less heat. Soi call to see what they will. Do and I get different prices to fix it. I have other pits that are twice as old and look better and still function well. Do not buy this pit. All fluf. read more
