This was my second time at this quilt shop and I'm always amazed at the selection they have here…read more There is an abundant amount of material, patterns and everything else you might need for sewing or quilting. It's located in an old home but they make great use of the space they have. The owner and other staff working there are so incredibly helpful and kind. They go above and beyond and makes for a very enjoyable experience. They also offer plenty of quilting classes for very reasonable prices. I absolutely love his quilt shop and highly recommend it. You will find everything you need. My only complaint was that we went on an extremely hot day and there isn't central air so some of the rooms are very hot. Overall it's a great quilt shop!

I never knew about this place until my step mom took me here. We were greeted by the very friendly…read moreshop staff, who spoke to us as if we were family. It was my first time there, so they showed us around the many rooms of their shop. The shop offers classes and the occasional retreat in their upstairs space. The store is a quilter's dream - its saturated from head to toe in fabric, patterns, kits, and more. Virtually every single surface was covered in quilt related items for sale, but it doesn't look messy or chaotic. They have a great selection of reproduction fabrics as well, and entire sections for nursery quilts, batiks, flannel, and seasonal items. You can buy fabrics from many major designers. The staff helped us choose fabrics for our project and also provided helpful information about the material (we almost bought one rayon print when the rest of our material was cotton). I really enjoyed visiting this store and without a doubt I will come back, especially because they carry so many things I can usually only get online. Hopefully in the future I can take a long arm class or two!

Mother of the bride also chose to have a custom made dress. We were all very disappointed with the process and the final products which were received. We paid premium dollars for a custom fitted gown so we'd each have a perfect fit, but all were ill fitting. The gowns were two pieces, consisting of a long skirt and a corset top. The claps on 2 of the skirts fell off and had to be sewn on, and there was no zipper closure on the skirts. Two of the skirts were made too small (even though we went in for several fittings), and V-shaped panels were sewn in which didn't lay flat and looked sloppy and terrible. The tops didn't fit properly. One girls' top was so short, that her midriff was showing, which understandably lead to her being upset and embarrassed. The corset tops should have been made with room so that there was a few inches for the lacing on the back to be seen. But all of the bridesmaids tops were laced up so that both sides were touching (they were made too big), defeating the purpose of the look. More frustrating was the overall process. All of the girls initially went for fittings in April (for a November wedding). The dresses were not ready until a week or so before the wedding. Lady Gwendolyn is a one person shop, so while we're sympathetic to the fact that she became ill, it seemed that the dresses did not get attention until the last minute. Our overall feeling is that formal gowns are not Lady Gwen's specialty, and a lot of heartache could have been spared if she had been more up front with her skill set.

I was recently involved in a Renaissance themed wedding, and the bride and groom had met Lady…read moreGwendolyn at the PA RenFaire and purchased their wedding attire through her a year before the wedding. Their outfits were brand new, beautiful, and mended to fit them perfectly, so if you are purchasing clothing from Lady Gwendolyn you will be pleased. The bride and groom decided that the bridal party and parents would also rent their Renaissance attire through Lady Gwendolyn, which is what this complaint is about. For $50 each, we would've been better off purchasing items from a Halloween costume store or website (many of the guests did, and they looked so much nicer). The bride is too nice to complain about things, but here are all the issues we had. We went to the shop at least 10 months before the wedding and should not have had the issues we did. First, the bride wanted her three bridesmaids in the same color. Not only did Lady Gwendolyn not have multiples of anything in the same color, but she didn't even have outfits to fit the three women, who are average sized women between sizes 8 and 14. One bridesmaid's outfit seemed fine and fit her well. The maid of honor's dress was too small and had black silk fabric pinned across her back and tied with a ribbon that didn't match the dress. Several of the buttonholes were missing hardware, and there was at least one rip in the side seam at the hip. The third bridesmaid was told she would have a vest made to match the skirt the bride picked. About a month before the wedding an e-mail was sent asking about the status of the vest - the only response was that the bridesmaid mentioned the wrong shade of blue. That should've been a red flag, but the bride wasn't worried. 3 weeks before the wedding, the bride is told Lady Gwendolyn couldn't get the fabric to make the vest and the bridesmaid would have to wear a different outfit that was not previously tried on. When the bride and groom picked up the outfit, they were told since the skirt was long, it would need to be hemmed by the bridesmaid (but done so that it could be removed after the wedding). In addition, the skirt was incredibly wrinkled and had to be ironed before the wedding. The vest was a different style than the other bridesmaid and not what we were expecting. The mother of the groom had a shirt that went under her dress that had a stain on it. The groomsmen didn't complain much, but they also changed immediately after dinner. The mother of the bride had tried a hat on with her dress but was told the week of the wedding that it was unavailable. The father of the bride had requested a medallion and scepter with his outfit, and these were also unavailable. We tried to keep our complaints and lack of comfort from the bride and groom because no one wanted to give them stress on their day, but many of us were extremely unhappy with the service given. I feel Lady Gwendolyn is better suited for renting costumes for day use at the RenFaire, but I would not recommend her for a wedding. I feel the couple took second place to the RenFaire which appears to be her main business - but this is someone's wedding day, we were paying a lot of money for everything, and this should've taken priority over a person renting a costume to wear around the woods for a day. Items should've been repaired, stains removed, and more advance notice should've been given for the missing items and outfit that was unable to be completed as promised.
