The shop was pretty crowded during my visit, probably a dozen people or so in the small space. This made me happy to see so many people shopping local. Eventually, after browsing most of the store, I decided to get a coffee bean pendant for my Traveler's Notebook. I've seen this same charm online for upwards of $20. Omoi's was $18. Definitely a value there! The service was excellent. While ringing me up one of the ladies running the register grabbed the Traveler's Notebook stamp (which you have to ask for) and let me do my thing. The stamp for the Traveler's Notebook is pretty cool, it features a soft pretzel and Water Ice.

It was actually really poppin when we got there, despite the fact that it was about 30 minutes to closing time. I wasn't really on the market for anything, just wanted to browse. I ended up picking up some cute notepads for a friend and some washi tape for myself. I love that they sold matchbooks here! I am an avid matchbook collector, despite not smoking a day in my life. Enticed by a $10 off coupon that resulted from my doing my Happy Return, I decided to shop around. The staff was very helpful with my initial visit reason, and let me know about sales happening at the store. I bought some adorable new cards, one with dogs on the cover and the other with succulents because there was a BOGO. Another great find was a To-Do list pad that has magnets so you can stick it to your fridge. There were tons of seasonal decor options, so I bought a "Happy Halloween" banner as well. The pricing was reasonable, and the quality of items is a match to the price point. If you are in need of a last minute gift, Paper Source is a great place to stop!

The man who owns the store is always so welcoming and friendly; however, his wife more closely resembles a troll than a human woman. I went to go into the store today after working out to buy a gift when I was greeted by the owner's wife, who slammed the door and screamed at me to get the hell out because I had an empty smoothie cup in my hand. I was actually shocked and asked her if she was serious. She reopened the door to curse at me and ask me if I would bring a beverage into the Art Museum, which I felt was a logical jump. I wanted to respond that yes, in fact I have enjoyed many a Wednesday night wine and cheese happy hour at the Art Museum, but she sadly slammed the door in my face before I could retort. (Incidentally, the Art Museum happy hour is delightful; maybe I'll write a separate review for that). I wanted to get something very elegant and fancy and in that respect, the Paperia delivered. However, even though two women were behind the counter doing naught but talking with each other, I was not greeted with so much as a "hi" "let alone a warm "hello" or "good morning." As I went around the store, no one offered any assistance or asked if they could help me find something. Then, when I approached the counter with my card (a little embellished number that cost $6.50), still the sales associate, or maybe manager, just scanned my item and told me the total, STILL without greeting me! It's not like I'm asking for a hug and a kiss when I walk into a store, but you need to acknowledge my presence, as well as the other customers. I guess I should have just gone to Walgreen's or something, where at least the crappy, apathetic service is matched by low prices and convenience.

I come here to buy greeting cards for any occasion and also for their abundant supply of thank-you-note stationery. There are plenty of handmade, artistic cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and other occasions that you don't find at other card stores. Despite the store's staid exterior, they actually *do* carry your regular humorous "ha ha, you're getting old" birthday cards along with the unique ones. They've got a decent selection of birthday and blank cards but when it comes to more 'minor' holidays like Mothers Day or Fathers Day, the selection is just so-so. The back room is devoted to custom-made and thank-you-note paper and cards, of which there are many. They're not cheap but the products are definitely high quality. The ladies who work there are usually nice and helpful, assisting you in finding something. You don't find many non-chain, local card stores these days anymore so I like to support Paperia for a cozier, more pleasant card-shopping experience than going to your run-of-the-mill Hallmark.

The store is pretty large so me and my group of 2 other people were inside browsing for 15-20 minutes. There was one employee, an older man with glasses, and the whole time he did not acknowledge us even though we were the only people in the store. A hello would have been nice, but my experience was still mostly positive at that point. When I approach the counter to pay, the man working heads over to the other end of the store to tidy some shelves. Me and my group wait patiently for a few minutes before he comes back, gives a rude look, and asks "That all?" I cordially say "Yes, thank you", pay for my items and head out. As I am heading home and already out of Philadelphia, I glance at the receipt and notice he rang up what were supposed to be $3 stickers as $6 magnets. I don't mind paying $6 for a sticker, but blatantly charging for a different, higher-ticket item is outright fraud and deception. The customer service already left a bad taste in my mouth and this was the cherry on top.

We came here with very little idea of what we wanted, and she was thoughtful, helpful, and patient with us throughout the whole process! We did a few revisions (or more...) and changed our minds multiple times. All the while, Colleen advised us on what the best options, conventional way of doing things, and wording choices, were. Initially, the idea of finding invitations was a bit daunting, but she continued to support us as we changed our minds, until we found what we truly wanted; she never rushed us once! At each step, she let us look at proofs, printed up different scripts, and size fonts so we could get an idea of what we were looking at. She also advised about upcoming sales too - which was really thoughtful! To top it off, we ordered our invitations and they came in SO FAST! In less than 2 weeks, I don't know how that is possible! If you don't find anything in "the books" (wedding invitation books) she does custom work in-house and has PLENTY of options! We've done completely custom designs, book designs, book designs with her enhancements...every time we are thrilled with the results. We always get multiple compliments on our invitations, every year. At our annual appointment, she has ideas & suggestions at the ready, a library of what we've previously done, and even wording ideas. The proofs are helpful, emailed for review. And Colleen's attention to detail really shows in the final product. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I also love her shop for finding special gifts you won't see anywhere else. She knows my SIL is a bee collector and even notifies me when something comes in with that design!
