This place is filled to the brim (which can be overwhelming for some.) While I do think that there are items here for toddlers because of the store layout (and it is a little cramped, especially when there are a few shoppers) and SEVERAL glass items on display, you may want to be careful in here with your small children and pets. (On the day I went, someone brought in their toddler and I found myself holding my breath the whole time). What I found especially interesting (as a person who couldn't drink for a bit recently) are all the non alcoholic cocktail books and fun 0 proof drinks...you can have something fancy and festive and alcohol free. My experience with staff was neutral: not amazing or bad. Paid street parking in a cute area in general.

The shop was pretty crowded during my visit, probably a dozen people or so in the small space. This made me happy to see so many people shopping local. Eventually, after browsing most of the store, I decided to get a coffee bean pendant for my Traveler's Notebook. I've seen this same charm online for upwards of $20. Omoi's was $18. Definitely a value there! The service was excellent. While ringing me up one of the ladies running the register grabbed the Traveler's Notebook stamp (which you have to ask for) and let me do my thing. Because I commute back and forth to the DC area for work, I did not have the opportunity to burn the candle right away. Unfortunately, once I finally used it, I began experiencing chest pain and a headache while it was burning. As soon as I blew the candle out, the symptoms immediately improved. I contacted the store and was completely honest about the timeline of my purchase. I explained that I understood time had passed, but asked whether an exchange might still be possible since the candle was very expensive and I could no longer safely use it. I was not asking for a refund, monetary compensation, or additional products -- simply an exchange. Nor did I post anything on social media and thought it was respectful to go directly to the store with the issue. Initially, I spoke with someone shop-sitting for the owner who could not assist me. When I later reached the owner directly, she stated there was nothing she could do because the candle had been purchased months ago and had already been used. What disappointed me most was the complete unwillingness to work with a loyal customer. I have shopped at Quail multiple times over the past year, often stopping in after the Rittenhouse Farmers Market, and have spent a considerable amount there. Whether I paid with cash (which she may not have records of my purchases when paying this way) or card, I genuinely supported this business and expected a bit more understanding and customer care in return. Based on this experience, I would caution others before making purchases here. If you encounter an issue with your item, do not expect flexibility or support from ownership, even though small businesses do have the autonomy to make these kinds of decisions to help their customers..

Every time I walk in, I'm struck by how thoughtfully curated their selection is--whether it's unique, stylish pieces for the home or perfect, one-of-a-kind gifts. I had the pleasure of meeting her during a visit to the shop, and she couldn't have been friendlier. She struck that perfect balance of being welcoming and helpful without ever feeling pushy or hovering. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers and their experience. I've also ordered from Quail Store online, and they completely exceeded my expectations. I purchased a gift for a friend, and not only did they wrap it beautifully, but they also included a handwritten note. My friend told me the packaging was so stunning they didn't even want to unwrap it because it looked like a piece of art!
