I am a frequent customer of Pita Thyme for a workday lunch. Sometimes at peak times, the line can be long, but it does move very efficiently. I usually get the garden salad with chicken schwarma. I had lunch here today and I must say its the best falafel I think I've ever had. I actually ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and I thought that was absolutely great. I was afraid the chicken was going to be dry and not much flavor but it was so delicious I actually wanted to order another one. Not that one isn't filling enough but it was that good! The place is good for a quick bite. I had the falafel and my fiancé had the Fatoosh and they were both delicious. There was a spicy red sauce on the falafel that really gave it all the flavor. Most reviews say there was a line but I didn't see that (however I was there on a weekday between Christmas and New Years). The service is really nice too. The register person (who could be the owner) made zaatar bread for us fresh even though they were out. However, I will say that it wasn't the best zaatar I ever had. read more

I have had quite a few falafel in my day but NOTHING compares to these. They are bright green inside from all the fresh herbs. The hummus is mouth watering and chicken shawarma is incredibly juicy. The ingredients are so phenomenally fresh it will blow your socks off. Portions are huge- you could eat the plates for two meals. Also, the kitchen is immaculate and the owners are very nice. Another killa lunch option for the win! Their chicken kebob is juicy, charred to perfection and lightly seasoned with herbs making it fully drool-worthy. I've had to downgrade my review because they don't seem to be as clean as they were initially. The parsley hasn't been washed well a few times now, resulting in uncomfortable gritty bites of tabouli. I came in today for lunch and was impressed by the volume of business generated, although the line was too long because at the time there was only one cashier on the register. The service was very friendly and when I asked my "server" about bread in the daily special, he asked if I was gluten-free and explained all of my options to me. I was very impressed with the service, but the weekly special (baby eggplants stuffed with meat and pine nuts covered in tomato sauce) was pretty bland and unimpressive. I wish I had gotten a kabob or shawarma, because those looked great! I'll give it another chance and try a core menu item next time. Hopefully they'll get a fourth star. read more

I'd give it 3 stars based on the taste of the food, but it gets 4 stars for its large portion sizes and speedy service. Prices are fairly reasonable- you can get a large meal for under $10. I was full from eating half for lunch, and full after eating the remaining half for dinner. The food is very fresh-tasting and they have a lot of options for sides (ex- salad with pita chips, salad, hummus, etc). Their rice was very soft and well-done. My only quibble was that the chicken shawarma was a bit flavorless. It was cooked and everything, but it lacked flavor. The workers are friendly and the order gets done very quickly, even during lunch hour. There are only a couple tables inside, however. read more

Their service model is flexible and allows the customer to choose 3 sides for the main dish. I ordered the kofta kabab, which is standard fare for me. I was pleased to be able to get the tabouli salad as one of the sides (along with hummus and superbly done basmati rice). Delicious! I purposely went after the lunch rush because I always see this place very crowded. I got the falafel wrap and a side of cucumber yogurt (one of my favorite foods). Everything was great but next time I would ask them to hold the pickles. I was a little sad that my wrap split open down the side, but it was only because it was so full. I've been to Pita Thyme a few times now since they opened and have enjoyed consistently good food and friendly service. I like the clean, bright decor as well. I'm a grab-n-go kind of patron, so the limited seating doesn't bother me. What makes me happy is that the salad ingredients are always very fresh and tossed to order without the chaotic atmosphere prevalent at some of the local competition. I'm also a fan of the falafel -- best I've found in the financial district. A steadfast creature of habit, today I was tempted out of my comfort zone by the kibbe special and learned that sometimes change is good! My friend had the chicken kabob salad (fresh/made to order ) and agreed that the chicken was really good. They were very busy since it was prime lunch time, their opening day, and they were running a $5 complete lunch special. I grew up in the Middle east and whenever we flew back from college we'd make my dad drive to the local falafel shop straight from the airport cause we missed it so much. The falafel I just had from here was moist and delicious and green just the way I remember it. I walked in there 5 mins before closing to order 3 sides of falafel (18 pieces). The owner Elli said they'd have to reheat the oil as they were closing but took the order and made falafels. The tahini was delicious as well. The hummus is nice but then I always prefer the one I make. Also got a salad and the greens were definitely the freshest I've had and was a very large serving. In fact I had to ask the person putting the ingredients in to take out some of the greens at it would be too much. When I told him I was vegetarian he made other suggestions of things I could try including a mujjadara they will be having later in the week. Also, checked if the greek dressing had egg in it for me. Overall very friendly and accommodating Definitely will be back next time the craving for falafel hits. read more
