This place is packed with sandwiches, muffins, salads, fruit, soup and everything my mum would approve of. Well, maybe not so much the chocolate bars. But hard working brains need a boost every now and again right? The best thing is, is that the food's really cheap. I loved their fruit salad containers that are filled with melon, apple, grapes...all the nice fruits. And the soups were perfect on those cold winter days. They also have seating outside which is great if you want to chill in the sunshine and people watch for your lunch break. This shop is always a winner for me and I'm thankful for it's convenience and price all the time.

For me this is heaven, nothing satisfies a student more than cheap food! I saw the sign as I was about to head into Imax food court but I ran across the road to Global Sandwich. I bought a smoked chicken sandwich on five grain bread and a banana muffin. This cost me $3.70! If you don't believe me head down there yourself. Apart from the cheap price it's nice to know that they are some honest people in this world who don't recycle their food stock.

It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

It's a popular place and they were crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was plenty of food for each order. My wife had a street dog and fries and I had a Ruben. They were pretty decent. I wasn't as happy with the fries. They were like the bottom of a pile and mostly little pieces with very few full length slices. Prices were extremely reasonable. I would definitely eat there again.

And I can definitely see why. The ordering process is simple and efficient, the staff are friendly, the majority of the pitas are under $10 and the choices are endless. They also have a 'flavour of the day' (regular size for $6), which is fast becoming a popular lunch for me. Their falafel on Wednesdays and roast beef on Fridays are my favourite. But if you are looking for something more exciting, order the Tandoori chicken, and don't forget to add the mango chutney - seriously good! They have little to no seating, so best to take your pita outside - luckily Freyburg Square is just around the corner, so you can enjoy it in the sun!

Oddly through all the name changes it's never strayed away from pitas - it's like they just change the sign on the outside but everything inside stays exactly the same. Anyway, any prior impression of Pita Pit you can basically apply to this place - it's cheap, you can choose what you like, and it's plenty of kai for the coin. Have never had any issue with ingredients, but maybe my expectations were low?! Anyway, good place to come if you can't spare more than say $10 on lunch.

Formally Dida's, Little Red Cup have halved the cabinet space and doubled the seating (smart move), which means it's now a pretty good spot for groups. What is left of the cabinet is filled with delicious (and rather huge) sangas, wraps and savoury pastries. There is also a fair number of good-looking sweat treats. For my first visit, I played it safe and ordered the vegetarian sandwich, which they ever so kindly toasted for me. As far as sandwiches go, i've gotta say this one was pretty up there - layer upon layer of thinly sliced, grilled vege, just the right amount of cheese and creamy mayo, all in between two think slices of focaccia AND given it's size, I thought it was a steal at $8. The decor, on the other hand, is a bit predictable - exposed light filaments, pictures frames randomly placed on a feature wall - but what really got me was the slide show picture frame on the counter of menu items. I don't know why these rub me the wrong way so much but they do. Perhaps a weee bit tacky... Anyway, this certainly won't stop me from going back. After all, a good sanga can be hard to find!

The chill chicken with gems in pita looked delicious - not my choice but a bit of envy. It looked a bit hard to eat but that only made it look even more succulent. I had the sirloin salad and while it was great, tasty and somewhat virtuous - i wanted that sandwich! Next time.... It's hardly surprisingly, considering I'm a huge fan of Zus and Zo and this new-ish sister café has a lot of similarities; the huge communal table full of amazing looking sweet treats, the delish home made preserves, the lovingly made coffee and the fresh-faced staff. However, one big difference is that there is heaps more outdoor seating at Zomer and for a sun seeker like myself this is a definite plus. I came here last Sat for a lazy brunch with a couple of friends. Grabbing one of the last tables outside, our waiter promptly came took our drinks order. Whilst my buddies went for coffee, I was a tad hungover so opted for their refreshing almond milk, baby kale, banana and honey smoothie ($8). It really just tasted like a banana smoothie but it was delicious all the same. For brunch, I went for the Bruschetta, which is served with haloumi, roast pumpkin hummus, rocket and streaky bacon. Although simple, it was really yummy and they didn't skimp on the haloumi or the bacon. Big tick in my book! I am excited to head back here to sample some of their dutch offerings and their freshly squeezed juices, which looked devine.
