Remains my favourite coffee and cake shop in Auckland. They have expanded their shop and now you can come here for dinner too. On our next to try restaurant for eating out! Their chocolate beetroot salted caramel cake so yummy!

Awesome pastries and great coffee with warm ambiance. Feels like you are in a big living room with a lot of friends. Loved it here.

If I could go to this cafe everyday...I probably would. Sadly my thighs won't allow it but my tastebuds and soul certainly love me when I decide to treat myself! The vast array of pure pure goodness that they offer each day is just amazing. I always try my best to taste something different each time, but my favourite has to be their quiche, so rich and comforting. Instead of numbers that represent your order, they give you small painted animals such as sheep, giraffe and horses! I have even seen GROWN MEN playing with these and having a good time so I think they are a fab idea. The seating is also really unique, everyone sits around one large table! I like to shake my world up regularly therefore I love this little quirk. My word of advice? Get in quick!!! Things seem to sell out very very fast. Also buy their cookbook it's tremendous!

First of all, when you're heading to this place.. Don't be alarmed that you're heading to a residential street :) The place where they decided to set the store suits the place very well , it's mellow, peaceful and just overall a lovely place go have some time together with those you care about :) They have a very small menu, but more things on the left hand side of the store such as donuts, quiche, sandwiches and so on. As seen in the picture the dish has an egg along which some tomatoes and other things :) on the side, they've given you two slices of ciabatta, which I have to admit... Is a bit sad. With the amount of egg and everything you have in the bowl, I don't think they see how two pieces of 10 cm ciabatta is suppose to help finish all of that. On the side note the sauce is salty for my liking!! Needed my ice coffee to actually finish my meal off Their water had a stick of cinnamon and mint leaves. Which helped when you felt thirsty so kudos to you for that !! Overall 3/5 as there was some needed improvement. This place isn't for someone like students as its not as cheap as many thinks !

My friend took me here when I had never heard of the place. "It's pretty much always packed, so we'll try our luck" she said. Ok, it sounded intriguing. So I met her there, but was really confused if it was the place. There was no signage, just Google maps assuring me I was in the right spot. Packed it was because it's a tiny cafe, and we finally got a table. We ordered some delicious treats. Everything came out presented so nicely and vintage - it's as though they've collected up everyone's grandma's old plates and cups and cutlery to use with pride. They had a huge glass tower container filled with giant meringues that had raspberry and chocolate mixed in. What. This was incredible. Also, tea was made with fresh mint - a lovely touch!

Little and Friday in Belmont is my new weekend eatery and not just because of the charasmatic lovely front of house guy behind the counter. The choices are huge ranging from Quiches, fritatta, cakes, donuts and pastries. I covered most of the offerings by going halves with a friend in the pumpkin and feta quiche and 3 cakes - Lemon and coconut which was delightfully moist and my favourite, chocolate, caramel and beetroot cake and lastly bread and butter pudding. The sizes are generous so you really do have to share. Plan to get a takeaway box. The venue is rambling and full of character. The service good and the patronage heeving. I will be back real soon and not just for the eye candy.

Little & Friday in Belmont is located in the heart of suburbia. Great parking right outside, or on the street (conveniently) opposite. The cafe has expanded since my last visit - so now there is another arm of the cafe (with additional indoor seating and pay point) where you enter, that was not operational today. I assume this opens when they're busy - at the weekends or lunchtimes...the coffee is 'supreme' beans and the food is exceptional, albeit expensive. Pastries, bespoke quiches, melt-in-your-mouth cakes, everything to delight your taste buds really. My coffee took 25 minutes to arrive, into my meeting? Not really acceptable for a Monday morning? I love the black&white portrait photography, the stylised tables with old-school milk bottles full of water, cinnamon stick and basil. Always busy, that's a good sign.

    Little and frighteningly cool

I finally made it to the all L and F mothership. I was a little surprised by its suburban surroundings, but it had all the cool and charm of its Newmarket sibling. Offering a great range of cakes and lunchtime sandwiches and frittatas, not to mention their signature (large but irresistible doughnuts filled with jam, banana caramel and chilli chocolate), the coffee was perfect and the service was slick. On the edges were many packed and bottled products begging to be taken home. Their cookbook also looked like good food porn for a rainy Sunday. All in all, this Auckland icon seemed to deserve many more visits and I look forward to returning soon.

It's hardly surprisingly, considering I'm a huge fan of Zus and Zo and this new-ish sister café has a lot of similarities; the huge communal table full of amazing looking sweet treats, the delish home made preserves, the lovingly made coffee and the fresh-faced staff. However, one big difference is that there is heaps more outdoor seating at Zomer and for a sun seeker like myself this is a definite plus. I came here last Sat for a lazy brunch with a couple of friends. Grabbing one of the last tables outside, our waiter promptly came took our drinks order. Whilst my buddies went for coffee, I was a tad hungover so opted for their refreshing almond milk, baby kale, banana and honey smoothie ($8). It really just tasted like a banana smoothie but it was delicious all the same. For brunch, I went for the Bruschetta, which is served with haloumi, roast pumpkin hummus, rocket and streaky bacon. Although simple, it was really yummy and they didn't skimp on the haloumi or the bacon. Big tick in my book! I am excited to head back here to sample some of their dutch offerings and their freshly squeezed juices, which looked devine.

The waitress that served us was friendly and to the point (in a good way) which I liked, as we were already hungry by the time we'd arrived! The layout is simple and I especially liked the flow of the outdoor area. There wasn't much foot traffic through the restaurant that night so our food came out fairly quickly. We'd ordered the risotto balls and half a dozen mussels with bacon and parmesan. Both were well priced and tasted amazing! I'm not usually one to order mussels at a restaurant, but I'd heard Massimo's ones were good and the decision definitely paid off. I ordered the King Prawn & Crispy Chicken Noodle Salad as my main, and its one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The tangy mango salsa they add to it is wonderful and brings all the ingredients together perfectly! I also got to try the Angus Eye Fillet; it was cooked a perfect medium rare and tasted great with the kumara and portobello mushrooms. We were too full for dessert but tried out their mochas, which tasted great and will definitely have us back to try out their all day menu. Caffe Massimo is easy to find and definitely worth a visit whether you're after a coffee, brunch or a three-course meal.

Left in Tears - Horrific Customer Service Experience…read more I had one of the worst and most distressing experiences of my life at Jam Organic Cafe. I left in tears after being verbally attacked and humiliated in front of other customers by a staff member. I had ordered eggs Benedict with salmon and gluten-free toast. Instead, I was served bacon -- something I cannot eat due to an allergy and religious dietary restrictions as a Muslim. When I politely mentioned the mistake, the woman who had taken my order (of Indian descent) came out and began loudly accusing me of calling her a liar. She repeatedly said, "Are you calling me a liar?" and "Don't call me a liar," while raising her voice and creating a scene in front of the entire café. Rather than calmly correcting the order, she escalated things by questioning my honesty and even went so far as to suggest I might be lying about my religion to get the meal changed. Her tone was aggressive and intimidating. She claimed she had offered to fix it, but that only came after the yelling began and in the middle of her verbal tirade. The situation got so bad that a passerby outside the café intervened and asked if I was okay. Only then did she slam the plate on the table and ask what I wanted. By that point, I was so shocked and shaken that I asked for a refund -- but I never received it because I ended up leaving in tears. What was even more upsetting was that none of the other staff members stepped in to help or defuse the situation. They witnessed the entire thing but said and did nothing. I have never in my life been treated this way in any restaurant or public space. It was deeply humiliating, traumatic, and unacceptable. I will never return to Jam Organic Cafe. No customer -- or human being -- deserves to be treated this way. If you care about respectful service and basic human decency, I suggest you avoid this place.

A huge tick which I totally follow in my own weekly food shopping. This is a great venue for a sunny day, because most of it sits outside in the sun. So not the best place to visit on day with rainy weather. The quinoa fritters were a great modern take on the boring corn fritters, served at most cafes. Mixed with beetroot, they are light and airy with no grease. The candied walnuts gave it the texture it needs with that tad of sweetness to balance a savoury dish. Its a very innovative dish and something different to order. The only issue was there was too much feta, which over powered the dish slightly, also I personally am not a fan of feta so that could just be me. No complaints with the egg white omelette from my mate. The banana smoothie was delicious - and wow soooo big! Couldn't believe the size. Big tick for value for money right there.
