Fresh from the ship as a wide eyed young migrant, I looked at the bright lights of the city, and realised it is definitely a foreign land. My eyes scanned the area, and it settled on a beautiful but hilly patch of grass, I now know as Devonport. That is where I want to live; those green pastures will be good land for my family.
After the initial shock of rental properties, I found a small one bedroom apartment, only a hop, skip and a jump away from Cheltenham Beach. I loved living so close to this perfect beach, and quickly stop worrying about the lack of size of my abode. Then I put on my explorer shoes and investigated the area, only to find Chateaubriant, the best place in the world. Well, it's the best place in the world if you don't want to make breakfast on a Saturday morning, and you can get fresh croissants and coffee down the passageway.
I can recommend this little patisserie. It is charming, and filled with friendly staff, tasty goodies and excellent coffee. Worth driving to from anywhere, even if you live across the bridge. read more
