This place was recommended by someone I follow on social media so I thought I would give it a try. The menu is limited and they only have vegetarian, vegan and fish dishes. My husband had the Falafel Pita (small amount of Falafel) and I had the Sabich Pita which barely had any eggplant in it. The flavors were bland. There is zero meat or dairy served given that they are Kosher. The food was very fresh, however the portions are quite small and for the price point it's quite pricey considering they don't offer a side of at least something like fries or rice etc. Perhaps because it's Malibu they charge more and give less? Service was good. It's a small shack like restaurant with large tables. Parking can be a challenge if all of their spots are taken. We lucked out and found parking. I'm glad I tried it anyway.

Tried this spot for the first time and loved it. The food was very good and the views amazing. Tried the falafel wrap loved it, lots of flavor and the falafel was made perfectly. This place is super casual, across the parking lot for Malibu Pier, they take online orders or at the counter. The falafel plate was even better than homemade, this is like gourmet falafel starting with the side salads to the carefully made small bites of falafel. It comes with REAL Israeli pita, mixed micro greens salad, tahini dressing, Shuk salad -Israeli chopped tomato cucumber , Schug similar to a Chimichrri sauce. Other things I ordered: Tabbouleh salad, good, but needed bit more lemon and olive oil, they make a gluten free version with quinoa just for Malibu, purists may frown upon but I didn't mind Hummus, truly excellent in freshness with delicious tahini creaminess Baba Ganoush, is best in LA and reminds me of my grandmother's with heavy roasted smoky eggplant flavor, creamy and yet chunky The pita bread is authentic and was prepared fresh for my order. Definitely coming again, good job chef and hope to see more items on the menu

Great service! Delicious food! I got the vegetarian bowl and added salmon on top! Salmon was fresh! Right on Malibu PCH which was a great view. They have small selective tight narrow parking, so be careful as pulling in and pulling out. read more

Fish Tacos and Seabass Tacos are FIRE. Our second time in here after a year of not being here. Last time I took my lady here, now I had my lunch crew here. They also loved the food and had fun. Tacos are fresh and great. Love the view and vibe here near the beach. Best place in Malibu. Service was good too. I will keep coming back every chance I get. read more

Best salmon plate in the area. The lady that helped us today was kind, took great care to answer our questions about ingredients and our dietary restrictions/allergies. Thank you! Also has a great falafel plate that is both gluten free and vegan! Outdoor and a couple indoor dining spots, can get busy but we still were able to find some seats in the shade. Damn! Pita Bu is incredible. Healthy, nutritious, delicious. Such a great view from their patio of the ocean, beach, activity. Fun atmosphere, great music and design. The food of course was worth it. Blown away by Pita Bu and now have our new favorite go-to restaurant in Malibu! Went there with our kids on a busy holiday and got 2 orders of fish and chips, fish tacos and a falafel platter. Service was outstanding and friendly. Despite being extremely busy, they got our food out within 15 minutes. The food itself was exceptionally fresh, the fish was incredible, everything was nice and warm and freshly prepared. Our kids absolutely loved the fish and chips and everything else we had was top quality. Location can't be beat - just across from Malibu pier and near Nobu. I wouldn't hesitate to go back often and give these guys a lot of business. Thanks! read more

Delish, but quite pricey food. Was pretty slow when crowded. Lovely people. 'Ocean view' is really more 'PCH traffic' view, and it can get quite loud and noxious depending on traffic. We loved the falafels and other vegan dishes. read more

Absolutely delicious ! So authentic. Fresh. Flavorful. Chef Oren came out and chatted it up with me and my 92 year old friend. Great mix of music. Hall & Oats, Stevie Wonder, and funk. Fresh water with lemon mint cucumber. We shared a platter and it was so satisfying and full of surprises. I highly recommend a day at surf rider beach with a walk to Pita Bu. Awesome place! The food is outstanding and so is the service! We walked in and wanted a large carry out order for a group of 15 on the spot. The staff helped and let us sample everything, gave us extra food, and helped consult us on how much to get (it ended up being the perfect amount). The falafel, pita, humus, tahini, red sauce, carrots, pickles were all my favorites. The fish looked really good but I didn't have any because I filled up on the other orders. We had leftovers and it was just as good the next day. 10/10 recommend can't wait to go back read more

The waiters act as though you should be serving them and it usually takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes for someone to arrive at your table. Meals are drawn out due to the lack of service. The front desk hostess' could not be more unpleasant, dismissive, and rude. Also, the food is simply OK, nothing special, and priced exceptionally high for what it is. In terms of ambiance, the furniture is stained, mildewy, and terribly kept. The large dining room remains empty throughout the day since they don't allow computers, and everyone is crammed into a small area where "computers are allowed". Also the employees take up one of the best (more private) tables in the house with their computers and coffee (stunned by this). I spoke to a once prominent member who also canceled his membership for these same reasons. It's truly so sad to see a place with such potential, lack such basic needs.

This is close to where my client works and it was a good place to have a casual meeting and get some lunch. There is indoor seating, but it is a tiny space so eating outdoors is more comfortable. There's a Boba spot next-door and Starbucks is right across the parking lot in case the meeting runs long and we need our sugar/caffeine fix!

I was searching for an elegant dinner spot on yelp and this place popped up. After seeing some pics of the food and the ambience, I quickly made the rezzy and my wife and I were on our way. As you come in, it's like you enter another world -- one of elegance and beauty. You can't help but notice perfect ambient lighting and modern vibes throughout the inside dine-in area and as you enter their huge gorgeous backyard patio, you just know that you're in the right place. The seating area there is massive, with very modern finishes and towards the rear of the patio you have the most beautiful water feature piece, that looks like a human-size vase, with water running down the vase and being met by fire at the base. Just one incredible architectural piece that creates that posh, contemporary ambiance. After taking in the breathtaking design of the spot, we finally sat down and ordered food. We tried the tuna tartare, squash blossoms appetizer and my wife got a seabass entree while I got their highly recommended vodka pasta. All of the food was absolutely incredible, from the freshness of tuna tartare, uniquely wonderful flavor profile of the squash blossoms , to the yummy vodka lumaconi pasta and the most mouth-watering seabass that I've ever tried in my life. I honestly never thought a fish could taste so good. The seabass was charred on the outside and just incredibly soft on the inside. As you barely touch the seabass with the fork, a piece of succulent seabass gets separated simply due to the natural gravity of the fork. The taste is perfect. It's like they somehow cooked it with large piece of butter on the inside. The incredible flavor profile and the consistency of each bite of this seabass, were simply unparalleled. And to add to all this awesomeness, the bed of risotto was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic as well. To finish off our meal, we decided to share their apple tart pastry and it too, was fresh, flavorful and that scoop of ice cream on top, made the pastry just perfect. This place hits a perfect trifecta, with its phenomenal modern design , incredible food and absolutely superb customer service. Our waiter Zach was extremely nice, helpful, attentive and he was just a perfect guide throughout tonight's culinary adventure. My wife and I are more than satisfied and can't wait to come to Casalena again!

I'm not sure why they don't season their fish or batter - but maybe they figure it's best to keep it unsalted and people can add seasoning? There is also hot sauce on the table which adds the perfect zing to the chowder. The people who run the place are friendly and the place is especially popular on weekends. I'd recommend coming midweek either before or after peak lunch hours. Highly recommend.

I recently attended a special event at Pita Bu, and it was a lovely capstone to a memorable weekend experience. We were seated on a veranda high above PCH overlooking the Pacific Ocean - a view that gave that extra touch of specialness to our meal. The food was served family-style, with an array of dishes already laid out upon our arrival. However, one dish that stood out was the falafel - it was probably the best I've had outside of New York or Israel. From the fresh thick style pita bread, hummus, french fries, eggplant, pickles, etc., the taste, texture, and presentation were spot-on. The area we dined in was clean and inviting. I stopped by to eat here with my son after a visit to the Malibu Beach and we both really enjoyed the food. The fish tacos here are out of this world. I tried the Sabich and I love that too. This is a great place located across the Malibu pier, and the price is high for a taco but you get real food.
