Follow up to last review. Regardless of what time or day you call, Kim or the other one will tell you that the manager. Derek is out. They will make any excuse they can to not put you through to his voicemail including the pretending to not be able to hear you when they are clearly reacting to you speaking. My partner and I have left about a dozen messages this past month and never received a call back. This is the same as the last time we tried to resolve this but they responded to a google review and said they wanted to resolve this. This entire thing started as what could have been an accidental billing issue where propane was either not delivered anywhere or to the wrong address, but they charged the card on file. We never received an invoice for it, simply the charge to our card. They then sent an invoice that appeared to show them crediting our account, but when they did finally deliver fuel after 3 failed attempts and excuses of various equipment failure on their part, they again charged us. We never received a refund for the first charge and if someone at this company would actually listen, read and email they blindly respond to, or return a call, this could have been resolved almost a year ago. Accidents happen, we never wanted anything free, but paying for someone else's propane isn't acceptable nor the extent they have gone to try to stall for time/ not address at all even when they admitted there was a mistake and we gave proof that fuel was never delivered the first time read more

They came and took the propane tanks we were renting from them with no warning, no notice and not even a notice in the mail after the fact! I got no apology. I paid $192 in August as a rental fee because we did not use enough propane, and was told on the phone, to contact them by the next May to either get a refill or pay rent again, but in March they came and took the tanks. They did send a check for the propane that was still in the tanks and that check came from Dead River. I will never use nor recommend either company again. There needs to be an option for zero stars for this company. They outright didn't deliver fuel to us and charged us for a fill up. Called, emailed, got the run around, they sent someone out and put in 5 gallons into an almost empty tank and again tried to charge us for more than they put in. Called, took another week, sent someone out and they filled the neighbors then charged us for more than the tank actually holds. I cannot get them to remove the propane tank that is leaking into my house. And this is just the worst of it. Did not know when I signed up with Pit Stop that it is owned by Dead River or I never would have chosen them. They took my personal money before they used my HEAP allotment, despite assuring me they would not. So I could not use that money for my property tax . Then they had the gall to try making it my fault. I haven't even been able to get the balance of my account returned to me. Don't forget to ask about their hidden charges just in case you need anything on an emergency basis. They are insanely overpriced. I went a week without propane (stove only) because they did not have a gauge on my tank, and I could not afford an additional $150 for a delivery the week I called. BTW I tried to call Dead River to let them know of their subsidiaries problem and guess what? They do not have any phone number available to customers. I wonder why! I rarely post reviews except when I feel it's necessary to protect future victims. They DO NOT do emergency deliveries! regardless of your situation!!! and don't bother calling since they RARELY answer the phone, and somehow answering service messages are not returned, ever. They will respond within a day or two to negative posts claiming their regret for "your experience ", but that doesn't excuse their negligence. Letter to Pit Stop Fuels: Today is February 3, 2018. You promised us fuel (home heating oil) two weeks ago. We contacted you 3 times since, most recently was yesterday afternoon, we were told "gee, I hope someone delivers your oil this afternoon" - I thanked the customer service lady for her "hope" and asked for a guarantee that we would receive our oil that day - she said Pit Stop Fuels could not make that guarantee. We were down to our last drop of oil. Needless to say, no delivery came and our furnace shut down during the night. Luckily, we found a new supplier that was happy to do business with us and get us oil right away - they fixed a miserable situation caused by your company and its negligent, deceitful ways. You have LOST a valuable customer- I'm sure there are many more to follow, if they haven't already! Shame on you Pit Stop Fuels! I ordered oil using Pit Stops website 2 weeks ago with no response and no delivery. I have tried for several days in a row to contact them via phone and would get either a busy signal or just ringing. My oil tank was running so low that we contacted another company who was able to make a same day delivery. Poor customer service when the people of Maine need to have warm houses. I am no longer a customer of Pit Stop fuel. I have been Pit Stop oil customer for four years and have loved the response and the service, until now, I'm done, never coming back. I needed fuel, at 1/4 tank, and I was told, sure, that will be 3 weeks. I said, no, sorry that's too long, they said, well if you need fuel, fill up containers at the gas station with off road diesel. Well I thought I was done with Josh Sandalh and Stone Road Energy LLC aka Lampron's Energy, Nouria Energy, etc. but apparently not as they just purchased another local heating oil company locally. Same complaint as so many others - they have taken the phone off the hook - how dare they. I leased and CONTRACTED an LP tank from Pitstop Fuel and paid almost $200.00 for it's installation. That contract included I would be supplied LP by Pit Stop Fuel on Thursdays as needed. Since the tank is owned by Pit Stop I cannot have it filled by anyone else. Therefore it is Pit Stop's responsibility to abide by their contract as they expect me to as well. Well I have let them know by email twice since their phone is off the hook and they REFUSE to answer their phones. One would think that during a cold period such as this they would maybe hire an extra person or even two (whatever it takes) whose job it is to answer the phones and take messages. They do not respond to emails either as I have sent two. Tomorrow is Thursday and I need LP Pit Stop - will I get my delivery as I CONTRACTED with you? I was speaking to the local Downeast Energy office today and they told me they heard Pit Stop had gone out of business and possibly sold to someone else, so this behavior gives credence to that "rumor". Anyone else having this issue should contact the Maine Solid Fuel Board and the Governor's Office. Just reached their answering service finally and was yelled at by an agent name Carly because they are busy. Really, Pit Stop you allow your agents to yell at long time customers - hardly professional??? We know and appreciate that you are busy with this cold snap - but you need to be accountable to your customers, if you still are in business, and at least have someone answer phones and emails. It is your behavior and lack of accountability that makes this situation unprofessional, intolerable and inexcusable. Update: Just spoke to Channel 13, WGME and learned Pit Stop has been sold to Nouria Energy aka Lampron's. Turns out they are now owned by Nouria Energy (Massachusetts), which also owns Lamprons who also purchased Bridgton Bottled Gas and now has Dirigo Fuels an online order company listed on MaineOil.com. What a mess!!!! I ordered heating fuel from Dirigo Fuels last week and my 3 day promised delivery turned out to be 7 days. Luckily I found local reputable company who picked up their slack and delivered oil to me within the hour. Kudos to them and shame on whoever this company is now. I now need LP for the tank I leased from Pit Stop and like everyone else the phone just rings busy. A large corporation like this has enough staff to cover these phones so they are not screwing the customers - if they cared, which they obviously do not. We stay at a campground in Casco for the summer. This year we were here earlier than normal and stayed later than normal therefore we used much more propane (heat). We called them during the latest (cold spell) and they were out to deliver our fuel within a few hours. Thank you Pit Stop for excellent service and caring about your customers. read more

After waiting 3 weeks for PitStop to come to my home to provide an estimate to connect propane to generator being installed on 12/27, no one showed up on the scheduled day. When I called PitStop I was told corporate decided they could not do any more generator connects until spring! They used excuse the ground was frozen. BS! The ground is not frozen! This review goes back to last winter. I was a customer of Pitstop for a couple of years. It was always hit or miss. The biggest problem was when we got really cold for a week or two. I went to order some oil as I always did for days they wouldn't pick up the phone I probably called several times a day. I then decided to order on line put in my credit card information and everything went through again I never heard from them for days and days. Two weeks of gone by and They had my money which in my opinion is stealing and still no delivery how sad. Finally one day they pick up the phone I expressed my issue with them and they weren't even apologetic or sympathetic they canceled the order and said have a nice day. I do not and would not recommend it This company to anyone this company needs to be put out of business immediately you may pay a few cents more to another company but it's well worth the money in my opinion. read more

First of all, my oil and propane are filled and working just fine from Pitstop but I will give them a bad review because of the way they've gone about conducting themselves during a time of emergency and crisis. During a bad winter storm, you refuse to pick up your phones, and never explain yourself to your loyal customers. Bad customer service, ZERO marketing strategy, and bad PR. Spineless executives who declined to comment on camera; at least could have sent a spokesman to explain how you were overwhelmed (which I absolutely believe to be the case). This is a great company to do business with. I was getting ripped off by my propane supplier and finally had enough. Pit Stop Fuels have competitive fuel pricing. I called Pit Stop Fuels on a Monday, had a brand new propane tank installed by their professional installers by Wednesday, they have licensed installers and they leak down test all the propane fittings on your system and they give you 25 gallons of propane at your standard cost for starters. There is a minimal setup charge for your new tank. A pleasure to do business with this company, great customer service and they have all new equipment : Late model well equipped trucks and professional employees, you won't be disappointed. Been a real pleasure to do business with a company that appreciates your business. Having been a contractor for 12 years I know what customer satisfaction is all about : quality, service and price. That is who you want to do business with. When you are pleased with a company you do business with you should share that, they get free marketing and more business with satisfied customers. And you can warn people about all the bad companies that exist, save them some aggravation. read more

STAY AWAY! I was using Pitstop fuels for almost 8 years. The past year and half have not been all that great. Customer service went down the toilet so I started ordering online to avoid dealing with the rude people answering the phone. Then my last and final delivery I got a phone call to verify the current information on my account. which I indeed verified. When they delivered the oil, they put the oil in the wrong spout cause the driver cant tell his right from his left of a building and dump 100 gallons of oil into my basement floor. I called to inform them and I spent 3 days scrubbing my basement floor with Dawn soap and speedy dry. Called to get them to rectify the situation and Linda, the office manager told me that the owner of the company said to claim it on my home owners??!?!. After back and forth for 2 weeks on the phone, they finally agreed they indeed put the oil in the wrong spout I kept saying that they put it into, But I told me that i told them to put it there which was the wrong one that was obsolete and not hooked up. I argue that why would I tell them to fill a spout not hooked up on the opposite side of my building...I know my left from right. They claim they just did what they was told and Linda told me the owner feels that I was the one made the mistake and basically told me its my fault! 8 years of service and the owner is going to cut off his nose despite his face over 100g of oil. Pit Stop has the worse customer service. Every other oil company was going through the same problem, the difference with Pit Stop was they decided to ignore their customer. I placed order on line and received an email that said they would delivery the oil the next available date, but they did not give me the date. On the email it said to call the office . What a joke that was. I tried for 2 straight day and I got through on 3 different occasion, but the call was disconnected but they had time to charge my credit for oil that they could not tell me when it was going to be delivered. If management can't figure out a delivery schedule that is pretty sad. They know how many trucks they have , how many gallons each truck will hold, and how many gallons have been sold. I even tried to schedule a site walk to have gas tank installed. The women who I talked to was so rude it was like she didn't even take my information.
