Park Naked Parked…read morehere while visiting DT Portland as it was downtown adjacent and we don't mind walking. The Good: *As stated above, it was a good location near the heart of DT Portland and everything was just a short 5-10min walk away. *Up front pricing (this will be evident why this is important later) *We liked the design of the panic garage, as it was easy and hassle-free, unlike a lot of these modern garages that are waaayyyyyy too complicated for their own good. The Meh: *$5/hr w/ a max of $50/all-day. While not terrible, there were cheaper parking garages around but it is what it is. Fwiw, these prices are more expensive than parking in SF, so put that in your pipe and smoke it. The Ugly: *We have friends in the area, and they warned us of "predatory parking garages" that don't state their prices before entering. So, if you don't see a price then do not enter or prepare to pay the consequences. Conclusion: Not the worst place to park, but there's better options.

Parking at this location is predatory at best. Upon entering the garage, there is no signage…read moreindicating any such hourly or flat rate for parking. I parked here for 9 hours and paid $45- this is a Boston rate in a city far smaller. The garage was nowhere near full, but if the price were displayed prior to entering, business would likely drop off from the few that park here. There's ample parking nearby, so why not lower the rate to keep it competitive? If you set a day rate of $20/day I would think there would be far more business than presently. Recommendations: -Be transparent and display your rates BEFORE people enter. Failing to do so is a predatory tactic. -Lower your rates so people would actually park here, especially if you plan to display rates. The garage is 7 levels and most of them are empty during peak morning hours. -Consider a day/flat rate pricing. -If you are going for hourly, tell me what amount it caps at if at all.

I finally pushed help and I was told to swipe my credit card. I refused as I had already paid 17.99 for what was advertised as $12 per day...The machine now was set to bill me $48.20 on top of what I had paid online. I refused and spoke to the human who was "helping" me get into the parking lot. He didn't recognize my name, 15 minutes ticked by... finally he told me to enter my phone number. That worked. I was not about to turn around and leave as they bill you for parking anyway, plus $6.99 penalty. 4 hours later, checking out was worse. My QR code was not recognized and I went through the same nightmare to get out.. this time it was 25 minutes of hassle and no help until I told the new human my phone number. First he asked me to use my credit card on the same $48.20 charge they attempted on the way in!!! DO NOT PARK THERE... it is a total nightmare... park at the outside lot on Fore St. our friends did and it as a Maine experience. This Gateway is owned by some Florida organization designed for ripping people off!!

Stairs and elevators take you to any level. The garage has two entrances/exits - with automated systems that allow you to enter and exit the garage. The garage was clean and well maintained. I had no issues getting in or out. #OceanGatewayGarage
