If your cruising BVI Islands this is a great stop. Yes a tourist attraction but food is really good. The pasta jambalaya comes highly recommended. The red snapper you can have a grilled or fried very flavorful. Halibut highly recommended.. make reservations if you have a big group. 15% service charge added to all checks

Great place to stop and have a bite while cruising the BVI. We chartered a boat for the day from Scrub Island and our captain suggested we stop here for lunch. So glad he did! After touring the Baths at Virgin Gorda and snorkeling all morning, we were hungry. We split some apps and got some mixed drinks. Food was good, loved the conch fritters and mahi mahi here. Service was fast-ish (for the caribbean) and friendly. Absolutely gorgeous views from the restaurant as well.

Place is little expensive but food was delicious. Service was ok but not impressive. Nearby beach is very clean and extremely breathtaking

Place is little expensive but food was delicious. Service was ok but not impressive. Happy hour is from 4 to 6. Free wi-fi and beach chairs. Nice and clean bathroom with shower. Nearby beach is well taken care of, very clean and extremely breathtaking

Amazing scenery & wonderful food are just two things you get here. The beach is wonderful & will make you want to hang out for a long time. Also the bar is well stocked & provides a great place to sit back & let the world just move around you.

The menu is big. It's local. They sell out as the night goes on. All of the servers do not speak English really well. But, honestly, if you have a question that can't be answered, there's someone around you can talk to. We ordered sautéed fish and the stewed chicken. Each entree comes with three sides - my favorites were the plantains, red beans, and Cole slaw. Rice was also good. The cook was also grilling pork that smelled AMAZING and when I asked my server if I could have whatever he was making, she literally snuck me over a side plate of smoked and grilled pork. So freaking good. This is not your typical Cruz bay restaurant. This is local. It's delicious. There is live music. Appreciate what you are getting. If you want cute fish tacos, this place isn't for you. We had a cocktail at the Windmill Bar during sunset and then popped over here (practically next door), to order some food. Tables are picnic style tables. All outside. Service is great but food is cooked to order so it might be slow. Enjoy it! We had multiple beers and a couple mamawana shots and two entrees and our total was about $75. Definitely our least expensive meal on St. John ever.

One day we were over at Coki Beach catching some rays and swimming while enjoying some drinks on the beach when we both got hungry. I said, "Let's go try Uncle Buddy's! It's literally 50 feet away." It's such a vibey little open aired space right on the water with beautiful views. The lady and her son who own the place were super friendly and welcoming. She had her son whip my gf up an amazing cocktail which we both shared and loved plus I had to enjoy a Presidente beer as well. When in Rome :) We ordered a platter that came with fried plantains, rice and beans, fried shrimp, and salad. We also ordered a fish sandwich. All of it was to die for! Excellent! Chefs Kiss :D I love this place and I love hard working people who go out of their way to make sure you are happy. I'll come back again and again while in St. Thomas. Thank you for the amazing food and drinks :) Enjoy!

This is one of those rare restaurants that offers dishes you simply won't find anywhere else in the area. The menu is creative, locally grounded, and clearly built with intention rather than shortcuts. Every plate felt thoughtful, fresh, and confidently executed -- the kind of food that makes you slow down and actually pay attention to what you're eating. The value for the price is exceptional, especially considering the quality of ingredients and the care put into each dish. In a place where dining can sometimes feel overpriced for what you get, Hillside Terrace stands out as genuinely fair and refreshingly honest. Service was kind, welcoming, and unpretentious -- good vibes from the moment you arrive. You can tell this is a place run by people who care, not just about the food, but about the experience. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and a sense that you're exactly where you're supposed to be for a great meal. If you're looking for excellent local food, unique menu items, great service, and outstanding value, Hillside Terrace is a must-visit. I wouldn't hesitate to return again -- in fact, I already did. In a place where highly priced restaurant dot the island, The Chicken Fry is a great spot to pick up lunch and dinner (no tables) and fill your beach/work hunger. We had 3 big plate orders of stewed chicken, white rice, and yellow plantains, also comes with a side of beans. The chicken was moist and juicy especially with the savory sauce it was cooked with, the rice wasn't dry, the plantains ripe and well cooked, and the beans were seasoned and spiced just right. Service was friendly, fast even with the constant influx of people coming in. Fresh food was coming from the kitchen even by 745pm. The interior is simple, no frills, and well lit. We parked our car on the street and it took us less than 10 min to get our order. The road may seem sketchy to outsiders especially at nighttime but we had no problems finding the place. Would come back to try more of their food and would recommend! Small plates are around $8-9, and big plates start from around $12. Our big plate with the stewed chicken. Rice, plantains and a side of beans were $12 each. Oxtail big plate is $18 . Cash and credit cards accepted.
