They allow you to mix your meat so I always get medium beef & ham, kids get turkey & ham, but they are willing to do any combo we have come up with. Their fries are similar to boardwalk fries, but sometimes they are not all fully cooked. The flavor is always good, plus they have vinegar to put on them. You had me at Pit Beef. This place is the definition of a hole in the wall spot but it's a stand-alone location. I knew it was going to be good because I was brought here by someone who had done a pit beef tour of Baltimore. What's that you ask? They literally drove all over Baltimore one day eating pit beef sandwiches. I can only imagine the meat sweats that occurred that night. I walked up this paint chipped building and entered nostril heaven. The smokey smell of meat entered my nose and my heart was as happy as my belly was about to be. I kept it simple and ordered the regular Pit Beef Sandwich with onions and Tiger Sauce. The tiger sauce is like a creamy horseradish and it's good. Like, really good. You can pick any of their sauces or even mix it up by having more than one. They ask what temperature you'd like your slices - I went med rare if you're wondering - and then you pay at the next window. There is only picnic table seating outside so in the winter months, you are taking this to go and enjoying your epic sandwich in your car. If it was so good, why not five stars? Small, nondescript shack that is home to some kick ass pit cooked meat. It's located behind a liquor store but it is visible from Rolling Road. There's enough room inside for about 4-5 customers. The menu is easily accessible and easy to understand. Step up to the window, tell the cook how thick/thin you'd like your meat sliced, order any sides, slide down the line, pay and add condiments as you leave out the other door. Very simple. I ordered pit turkey, fries w/ gravy, and a pickle. The turkey was hot and piled high with tomatoes and horseradish. The horseradish gave my sandwich a mean kick!! Get in line, walk in the door, order at window 1, pay and pick up at window 2, walk out the door and do it quickly. LOL I was 12 back in line today and was out of there in 5 minutes. So let's get to this sandwich, I got a Super, 1/2 Beef, 1/2 Turkey, onions, horseradish, light mayo and it was AWESOME!!!! The meat was cooked to a perfect medium, had a great smoky flavor and was juicy. The roll was fresh and didn't take over the show. The onions were sliced on a slicer and are razor thin!! I didn't need to order fries, w/ gravy(!) but how can I not when they're fresh cut and only $2.50?! All said, on the rim and out the door for $14 w a LG 1/2& 1/2 for a drink. For some reason the Turkey was much more hot and juicy compared to the beef we ordered. I wish the breads or buns for the sandwiches were toasted so that your sandwich doesnt easily get soggy once wrapped but overall very good food!
