Shortly before we were due to leave I discovered that the motel we were staying in did not provide ice. I used Yelp to find the nearest convenience store and called to verify they had small cubed ice for sale. The clerk assured me they did and I drove right over. I wish I had the man's name. He was truly exceptional in customer service. He recognized me as the woman who called. He proceeded to make a bag of fresh ice for me so the cubes would not be stuck together when we filled our water bottles and small chest. When paying I tried to tip him. He said all tips go into a jar for the local animal rescue. We got into a quick conversation about my adopted kittens and his tiny little chicken. I left with a smile on my face. A simple transaction had turned a stressful situation into a delightful part of my day. I will be sure to use this location again when visiting Astoria.

I just want to jump in here and say that I am like a loyal Chevron gas station customer because I…read moredo truly believe that it is the better gas out there and gives me the best fuel mileage for my car and my budget. But I cannot believe the rude service that I get at the Chevron in Astoria every single time I have to go there to get gas. It's gotten to the point that I avoid going to that location and would rather wait until later in the week when I am in Seaside to get service there because at least the staff is friendly. The Chevron in Astoria has gotten so bad that I won't even try to pay for my gas inside anymore because it's an issue. Every time I try to use my rewards they will deplete points from my account. But those points never appear on the pump and then they tell me it's not fixable. They always seem completely irritated. If I have them scan my drinks and then ask them for cigarettes and they don't pay attention when I'm letting them know what kind to grab for me. Which I guess is okay because not everyone is familiar with cigarettes. The main issue here is every time I'm at that counter. it feels like it's a huge inconvenience for the person standing there to get off of their phone and put a smile on their face and treat me like I am a paying customer like I just left the Chevron in Astoria after spending over $60 in gas and another $50 on other items that I purchased inside the store and the girl looked very irritated that I asked her if she could scan my rewards account on my phone and then when everything was finished she just stood there and I said hey. Do you think that I could get a bag from you by chance and she threw all of my items into the bottom of the bag and did not say another word to me just got back on her phone. This is not the only employee that has treated me that way from this shop so I don't know if there is like an issue with employment there or if generally they just don't get very good employees that apply but those people need some serious training on how to offer customer service. If they're going to be accepting people's hard-earned money for expensive items, I shouldn't have to feel like it's uncomfortable to go in there. And yes, I understand I could just get gas somewhere else but it's a preference of mine to attempt to buy Chevron gas so it's a convenience when I'm there to also get my other items there. I will say this is probably the last time I will ever go to that gas station. I would rather put s***** gas in my car then get treated like I don't deserve to be there. I am a hard-working individual in the community and frequently spend hundreds of dollars there every single month and it just doesn't feel okay. I haven't been treated badly like this anywhere else I shop in this community. The only reason that I gave a one-star review is for the quality of the gas, not anything else

This place is a massive, nostalgic treasure trove! It's part convenience store, part candy land,…read morefeaturing everything from fudge and unique knick-knacks to one of the coolest energy drink selections I've ever seen. They even carry Faygo, which is a rare find here on the West Coast. It definitely has a nostalgic ambiance while being just modern enough. Its also at the end of the strip (or start depending where you park) which makes it convenient. While the ice cream selection is huge, the ordering process is a bit of a puzzle. You're required to pay at the register before you even pick your flavors, which is at the end of the long counter. You pass all the ice cream to get there which leads to a lot of confusion and some "line tension" among customers. It's also worth noting that they don't offer samples-which is a bit of a bummer considering how many delicious options there are! If you can navigate the at times chaotic line, the treats are worth it.

Within seconds we were treated with outright disrespect by an elderly woman near the salt-water taffy. She immediately started shaking her head at us and then made multiple inappropriate and disgusting comments -- within less than a minute: - "Is this an insane asylum or a sane asylum?" - Telling my 12 year old daughter and niece to "close their legs and keep them shut." Speaking to CHILDREN like that is beyond inappropriate--it's disturbing. As we were walking out she went behind the counter and started opening & shutting cabinets as loudly as she could. We didn't even stay a full minute before leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we were. No family should ever be made to feel like that walking into a business. If this is how customers, especially kids are treated, then Scoopers doesn't deserve anyone's business. We will never be back.
