My view from my low car.
    Simon K.

I have never been to Seaside before, and going down in my car eventually it needs to eat too as the light was getting low. This gas station was close to my hotel, and it is an odd place, right along the Oregon Coast Highway and South Holladay Drive, it's a fork in the road location. So I pulled up in the empty spot.. and remembering this is Oregon... I stayed in my car, as this State has no self-serve. Jacob, our cool service attendant came by to help pump my gas. As I was planning to drive down to Canon Beach, and I am very far away from home, I might as well ask the locals how to get there, and what else to do around this area. Jacob was very friendly, telling us he just moved here but gave us tips on going along the road, and other stops we should hit up, all while having my gas filled, and running around from car to car filling their gas as well (this guy was hustling hard) and everytime checking in with me and adding another place that me and my dear should hit up. It was a very pleasant experience, not used to speaking to my gas attendant, but if this gas station was around where I lived I would go just for the service. In the end he even asked me if I could help him change up a $10 Canadian bill, cause it's no use to him around these parts, I happily obliged and can see that this guy deserves a tip! If you are as lucky as I am, you'll get Jacob filling your gas and a pleasant conversation.

    I LOVE IT!

This might not be the absolute cheapest gas in town, but it's pretty close and convenient as you enter town from Portland. What I really like about this station is that you can pump you own gas! Yes, some law passed where the rural cities that the pumps are open 24hrs, you can pump your own gas. I'm just used to it. The nozzles don't have that stupid CA hose thingy that's a pain to deal with, I love it. I trust Chevron gas so I know I'm getting high quality fuel. This was an easy in and out to get gas.

(Besides, I can't find my tire pressure gauge anywhere.) The service attendant, Dave, noticed that our tires were low, and told us so.

Unfortunately I do not have a lot of choices where to shop because Rite Aid has a lock on Medicare covered prescriptions in this town. Consider me as being a disgruntled customer that wishes I had more shopping options than having no choice but to shop at this store. The Seaside Rite Aid pharmacist informed me that according to their computer, the Advair disc I needed was in stock in Warrenton and I drove 36 miles round trip to that Rite Aid location only to learn they don't stock it and never have, as it is special order only! Hopefully a company like Amazon will get into the pharmacy business as they know who the customer is and how to give prompt service. Maybe Rite Aid should reconsider their business model as what is offered does not work! I expected more from a national company and look forward to the day that this store closes when some other pharmacy opens and delivers service with a good attitude.

However, the owners seriously need to reevaluate their pricing strategy. I was utterly shocked when I stopped in to buy a gallon of milk for an outrageous $6.00. Typically, milk is around $3.00 per gallon in any grocery store, and I noticed this store carries the same brand that Costco sells for $3.98 for two gallons. This pricing is unacceptable, and even a staff member expressed disbelief at the cost. I told them $6.00 is too expensive and speculated that the owners must be throwing away a lot of milk since no one in their right mind would pay that price. Unfortunately, you've just lost a longtime customer who has spent considerable money at your store for the sake of convenience. Moving forward, that convenience isn't worth the excessive prices you're charging. You need to do better, especially since your primary clientele consists of local customers. If you priced items more fairly, considering the needs of your community, you'd likely see an increase in business. Greed does not reflect well on a local business. Until your prices align with the value of what you're selling, I won't be back for any convenience items.
