I bought a home thru a local builder spinell. The door was thru Pioneer doors. The door had a dent I showed Spinell. It was painted over so its not something I made. They said Pioneer wouldn't warranty, they also wouldnt do anything. Just one of multiple small details that Spinell and all of its sub contractors failed to see. Quality is no key with them. I am gussing if you just go thru them you might have a better experience but that wasn't mine. Your work should always be the same quality and not different if its a sub contract. read more

A month or so later the company sent them another bill with the total changed, it was about $100 higher. The company told my parents that they owed more money after the fact. My parents told the company that they paid I'm full at the time of the repair. My Story: About 10 years ago, my Wife and I decided to do some major upgrades on our house in Anchorage Alaska. This included the addition of high-density foam insulation under new fiber cement siding, All new energy efficient windows, a new Lochinvar high efficiency boiler system, and last but not least, a new garage door and door operator. In our research to find the best product for the application that fit our budget, we selected a Thermacore garage door manufactured by the Overhead Door company. These doors are well engineered, and well-reviewed. Our local Overhead Door vendor "Pioneer Door" was contacted for a quote for the door and new operator and installation came and went without an issue. Over the next few years, we started to have issues with the Marantec Door Operator that was installed by Pioneer Door at the same time the garage door was replaced, until the Marantec Operator died for good. I out of Alaska in the spring of 2019 on business when the Garage Door operator failed, and I promptly called Pioneer Door to schedule a service call to troubleshoot. Seems that the garage door springs were not properly sized for the weight of the new garage door that was installed by Pioneer Door, which led the Marantec operator to prematurely fail. After voicing my dismay to the Manager, a new operator, and springs were installed within days of the failure and everything seemed fine until just the other day. Upon returning home from shopping, we attempted to open the garage door from the car remote and it would not open. Upon inspection, I found that 1 of the springs that was installed the year before was broken and therefore we couldn't even open the door manually. I contacted Pioneer Door and explained the issue, and was advised by one of the Salesmen that "these springs have a maximum cycle life" as in they can only be used to open / close your door so many times before failure. Really?? A couple days later a Service Tech arrived to inspect and repair. He was a nice enough Guy and seemed to know his craft. He weighed the door, and discussed required spring size with the Home Office, and 2 new springs were cut and brought out to the house for install which again, went without issue. Pioneer Door was nice enough to waive the Technician's Service charge, however they felt compelled to charge me $ 136.00 for the 2 new springs. I would have thought that they would want to warranty the full service and parts on this as it was actually their over site for not installing the correct springs the year prior. To make matters worse, I had just painted the ceiling in the garage, and now I have to repaint again due to the marks left by the Technician. read more

Pioneer Door installed a new garage door opener (brain, track, etc.) about a year ago. Last weekend I had to manually close the door and the brain came down. Pioneer Door fastened the brain to the ceiling with 2 bolts into dry wall. They didn't bother to find a stud. Fortunately my car was not in the garage. read more

On Thursday the 19th, I set an appointment to have a Liftmaster 8360 installed in "the afternoon". Around 1:30 on the day of the appoinment I called to see if there was an actual time frame to expect the installer to arrive. After a 20 minute hold and 3 different people talking to me, I was told I could expect them to arrive some time before 4:00 pm. A couple hours later, 3:42 I received a call saying they could not find the unit I wanted installed, but they had an Overhead Odyssey 1000 that they could install for the same cost. I agreed and was told the installer should call in just a few minutes to let me know he was on his way. 15 minutes later, 3:56, I get a call, expecting it to be the installer, nope, I was informed they found a liftmaster for me, and the installer would be on his way shortly. Then I finally, at 4:24 received the call from the tech I had been waiting for all day, only to be told that unfortunately, for me anyway, the last installation had run into some issues for them, and they were not going to make it out today afterall. So after my wife cancelled appointments and plans she had for the day so she could sit at home waiting for an installer that never showed up and waited until the last minute to tell us, we were told they needed to reschedule and "should be able to get there tomorrow". I completely understand things like this happen in business, and installations rarely go as planned, which is why I am not giving a 1 star rating. But I feel the situation could have been handled A LOT more professionally. read more

Pioneer Door forgot to attach a hinge on one side of a panel several years ago. Over time, the hinge on the other side ripped the steal apart creating a tear just below the hinge. The technician came out and was told of the situation. They questioned us, the home owners, why the hinge was not installed and why we waited years later to get it fixed. Never had a problem and never look wrong when you look at the door, until the steal tore on the opposite side due to torque and pressure. Pioneer Door, never took responsibility that they installed it improperly and caused the tear in the door. So, they charged an additional $150+ to add another row of hinges, moved the damaged panel hinge to cover the rip in the steal door and never replaced the damaged panel due to the improper install. What is frustrating about this issue is this was damage directly due to improper install by Pioneer Door that took time to develop a rip in the steal portion of the door. It took 5 years to show its ugly outcome and the best they told us was the door has a 2 year warranty. Thanks for nothing and thanks for charging me again for fixing a problem the install from Pioneer Door created. read more
