Work was good . Was a lot of playing around. Workers got complacent. Did not check the working capabilities of the sump pumps in the crocks they put in. I got up the morning after and was water in my basement again. Spent 13000.00 they finished and I have water in my basement again . I called complain. Get a call 3 hours after they open and say we will come out and fix it. I said you should have done your job when you were here. You don't have a check list ? I said I fixed your screw up already wasn't waiting for more water in my basement. They added drain pipes into the crocks and reinstalled my sump pumps without checking to see it everything worked. The drain pipes they added held my floats down and not letting the pumps to turn on . Was not happy . read more

Way back in September 1994 I contracted with Pioneer Basement Waterproofing to install a sump pump system in the basement of my house. They did a great job. Since then, I have worn out two sump pumps but the piping and drainage system they put in has stood the test of time until just recently when my sump pump discharge piping separated at a pipe coupling located above ground just outside the house. My small diameter discharge piping penetrates the basement wall and connects to a large fitting just outside the house. This Y fitting combines the flow from an eave downspout with the flow coming out of the sump pump. The small diameter piping connection finally got brittle enough to break off and some of the sump pump discharge was being discharged all over the ground next to the foundation instead of flowing into the large underground piping going to the street. I called Pioneer and asked them to come out and fix my problem. When I told them when the system had been installed the person said, "Wow! That was when Grandpa was still running the place". She said she would have a service person call me and gave me an email address where I could send a photo of the problem. Not much later a service rep called and told me he would come over and only charge $89 for the service call which would include any parts required to fix the problem. He came out, looked at the problem, dug down about 18 inches, cut off the large diameter underground pipe below the large fitting, attached a new large Y fitting to a section of large pipe, glued everything back together and re-attached my eave spout discharge and my sump pump discharge pipe. Problem fixed. The Pioneer of today is still the great company I dealt with back in 1994 and I highly recommend them. Service like this is very hard to find anymore. read more

I was having water issues in my duplex and called Pioneer. They found out that the builder never waterproofed the exterior of the crawl space at all! We had Pioneer out to assess our house and spoke with Ron. He was extremely professional and very knowledgeable. We had a few normal settlement cracks with no water leakage and Ron was honest enough to say we didn't need any major work. This goes a long way being honest like this. Some stones fell off the foundation of an older home we manage. Everyone we spoke to gave us a different opinion, some for a high price. In frustration, I called Pioneer Basement Systems at random. I had basically called everyone I could find up until that point. From the moment I spoke to him on the phone I knew he was a professional. He set up an appointment to come to Cleveland and see the property, and even reminded me of that appointment. He was there precisely on time. After a thorough review he gave us the terrific news that while the appearance of the foundation was a concern, it was structurally sound. No work was needed at the time. When I asked questions, Ron and his associate answered them clearly so that I understood why my concern was unfounded. It was the first time I heard many of these answers. Despite his long drive, Ron refused to take money for the visit. If I have problems in the future with this or another property, I will work with no one else by Pioneer Basement Systems! read more

I met with Ron Lee of pioneer 3 times to discuss my needs in my basement. There was no pressure and I felt he did a good job with the estimate. Pioneer's crew of 4 showed up May 15th on time. The foreman introduced himself but I was not given the names of any of the other workers. The job was started quickly upon arrival. It appeared all was going well. After Pioneer left for the day I inspected their progress. There were multiple areas of damage created by Pioneer. They did not inform me of this while they were there. I had to approach them the following day about it. I did not get a good response from the crew and asked for the owner to call me. They attempted to jack hammer behind my hot water heater that was flush with the wall. In doing this they dented my hot water tank and put an unnecessary hole in my foundation. Pictures of damage are attached. I was told during estimate that they would tunnel under obstacles. If the hot water tank needed removed they should of asked and I would of called a plumber. The use of the jackhammer behind this should of never been attempted. There simply wasn't enough room to do it. As you will notice in the picture you couldn't even fit a paint brush behind the tank. I asked for the owner to call me on this. He ultimately relpaced the hot water tank. Pioneer also destroyed the lower block on a load bearing wall with their jack hammer. See attached picture. This is a load bearing wall and the first block is now destroyed. The owner had his crew full it with hydraulic cement. I'm concerned the structural integrity of this wall is now compromised. I also feel this could of been avoided if they used a lighter jackhammer to prevent this kind of damage. The floors were covered poorly. Areas were left uncovered. I had to ask for more paper to be put down. So the lip of my laminate floor would not be destroyed by there work boots. This a basic part of their job. I shouldn't of had to ask them to cover floors appropriately. Picture attached. The water pressure tank in may house was sitting on concrete blocks. They slid out the blocks over half way and had my tank propped up on wall with a piece of pipe. I understand why they did this but they never mentioned I would have to reset tank on concrete blocks after the concrete had dried. We noticed it after the job was complete. This is a labor intensive job. It created a tremendous about of dust throughout our home. The crew worked hard while they were there. One crew member specifically seemed very knowledgeable about basements. He stated he had 24 years experience. The experience showed in some of his work. Ultimately I'm very unhappy with the job of Pioneer. I feel all of the damage could of been avoided with the right tools and patience. Pioneer gives out satisfaction surveys to their customers. I didn't receive one. I'm guessing because they knew I was unhappy when they left. Pioneer uses the surveys as a marketing tool. The surveys are not a true representation of Pioneer If your selective about who gets the surveys. Now that the job is complete. I wouldn't recommend interior waterproofing or Pioneer Basement Solutions to anyone. . read more
