We had some concerns about cracks in the basement walls and called on OSW for a warranty inspection. Ron was great and flagged 5 specific areas his team would come out to repair. Service was scheduled a few months later and they came out on Oct. 21st to do the work. I was surprised there wasn't an excavator, but the four man crew dug out the ground with hand shovels. Didn't matter much, they installed their barriers, topped with their tar compound and filled the holes back up. They showed me what was going on and explained the what/why as they went and left me very pleased. It's been less than a month, but haven't had an issue yet. So far, happy to report I don't expect that to change much either. We would absolutely recommend them to our neighbors, friends and family. read more

My review is make sure you ask more questions. I got my crawlspace encapsulated. We talked about an added benefit is radon not getting in if there is any. Also, that it would prevent the mold stuff getting into my furnace in the crawlspace. But, I did not hear that they don't encapsulate the interior walls and more importantly that they leave the inside part of the floor uncovered. Common sense is that if the entire floor is not covered there can still be mold and radon. I'm just disappointed in the service and a supervisor did come out and that this is how they do it. read more

An Ohio State Waterproofing rep quoted $17k to waterproof a small room in our basement, repair cracks, and install a proprietary exterior waterproofing system. The quote was based on $250 per linear foot. The vast majority of the cost was for the exterior system, which the rep said was unique to Ohio State Waterproofing. The rep was very critical of Ohio Basement Authority and other companies, stating they weren't able to properly waterproof a basement because only Ohio State Waterproofing holds the patent on their exterior waterproofing system. We chose not to purchase the system right away and the rep sent us a quote via email. Several days later, I received a call from the Ohio State Waterproofing office offering to send an inspector out to see about adjusting the quote. After inspecting the basement and measuring a section of the exterior of the house, the inspector informed us that the first rep underestimated the linear footage by 5 ft., and that the quoted price should have been $21k, not $17k. That's when the inspector, who identified himself as part of the management team, began using aggressive sales tactics, explaining that he could lower the price to $14k if we purchased on the spot, today. I had to tell the inspector in plain English, twice, that we wouldn't purchase today and then tell him that I appreciated his time before he got the hint and left. The whole experience of the second inspection made my wife and I feel like we were on a used car lot. My wife was intimidated and speechless. The crew (Mike Berry, Caesar and the group) were all professional and thorough. The job was done well. The final project was excellent with none of the problems others had. Am I the lucky one? Honestly - the worst experience ever. TLDR: two faulty installs by the company caused $10,000 damage in our basement and made our basement completely unusable for 9 months. They did our basement in 2020. When a contractor worked in the basement in 2024, he found water everywhere. Ohio State Waterproofing admitted they installed their very expensive waterproofing system incorrectly. We had $10,000 worth of damage because of their faulty install. They said they would redo the system but would NOT pay for the $10,000 damage their faulty install caused. Then to make matters worse, when we went to install our carpet months later (the concrete has to cure), the concrete came up in chunks - Ohio State Waterproofing did a FAULTY INSTALL NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. Our basement carpet had to be rolled up and our basement was completely unusable for months while the concrete cured AGAIN. Again, they redid the waterproofing a third time but made no effort to compensate us for our unusable basement or stress because of their terrible company. read more

I had a great experience with Ohio State Waterproofing. They were in an out in 4 days. The cleaned up at the end of each day and did a decent job of leveling everything out around the house when finished. The crew was friendly and receptive to questions and concerns. They sent someone to inspect at the end of the job and recently sent someone to follow-up to see if there were any issues and to explain what to watch for in the coming months. He explained the use of the sump pump and dehumidifier as well. It was expensive, but given what was involved in the project and what I am protecting against, I was willing to pay for it. It has only been a couple of months since the work was done and we haven't had a lot of rain, so I can't speak to whether there will be any issues down the road. read more

They know their business and backup their claims and warranty, but their sales team is HIGH pressure and does not necessarily disclose all of the details, especially if you use their financing. Higher interest rates than traditional equity loans, AND they failed to disclose that there was a lien on the property they are repairing. High pressure, in home sales that involve a lien require a 3 day rescission period that they conveniently "forgot" to disclose. We used them but paid cash and made sure they knew we were aware of the omission. Hard to beat the lifetime warranty but beware of the sales tactics that border on violation. read more

After seeing many positive reviews and 4-5 star ratings. I decided to get my 1948 home waterproofed. I am a new homeowner and should have done more research. The salesman and workers were friendly and worked diligently, but the craftsmanship was shotty at best. 16 months later my foundation wall collapsed. Immediately called and they sent someone out and gentleman was of no concern and even asked "I don't really know why I'm here" looking at my collapsed foundation. They only cover if your wall bows or cracks, not if it collapsed, yet, you did the work to waterproof my house. Installed a sump pump and I was told they would bury the line, never did. Very disappointed that I spent almost 20K to now have someone else do the job correctly. Digging down only 3ft, is not going to prevent water from entering your basement if you have cracks. The water moisture "barrier" they put up is cheap. Only hides water or cracks, so you'd never know until it's too late. Finally, they put up some barrier to prevent dust from entering my home as they traversed up and down the stairs. When they took the tape off my ceiling, tore some paint. Said they'd slap some new paint on. Was wrong and did a shotty job. Very disappointed. read more

We called Ohio State Waterproofing to come out and do some work. We were originally quoted $30K something. A few days go by and a guy by the name of Bill Wright comes out, introducing himself as the original sales guys manager and requotes the job for $20K something. We sign the contract and apply for financing. We get approved, but we have 0 idea whether we got approved or not because no one called and told us. We got a letter in the mail from the financing company saying we were approved. That's the only indication that anything happened. A few weeks ago by, and without notice, Bill shows up to take pictures & needs us to sign papers. However, the entire family has the flu. Had the office called ahead, I would have told them that we were not available. Bill leaves and the office FINALLY makes an appointment ahead of time for Bill to come out and sign papers. In between setting the appt and the appt day, I lose my job. I called Bill to let him know and it goes to voicemail. I then follow up with a text. No reply. Nothing. 10 minutes AFTER the appointment was supposed to start, Bill shows up and introduces me to Michael D, his sales manager. Wait a sec, I thought Bill was a sales manager? I say, "Maybe we can delay?" and Michael says, "Delay what?" and I said "The job." And he said, "Well actually we were going to pull your job up." And I said, "We can't afford the payments on one salary right now, so we need to delay." So then he tried to delay the first payment by six months vs the 3 we were approved for (which of course we didn't know because no one had called to go over ANYTHING). So then Michael says, "Per the Ohio Revised Code, we'll have to send this to arbitration." That's a statement meant to misinform. The company has the OPTION to send us to arbitration, since we signed the contract, but they don't HAVE to. Ohio doesn't require companies to send people to arbitration. So I guess now we wait. But just beware of this company. Very, very poor customer service. I lost my job and they don't see to have any problems trying to get money one way or the other. Last thing I will say: they have a lot of 5 start reviews on Google because they buy those reviews, and poor reviews on Yelp because they can't buy reviews. So previous owners had this pathetic company do waterproofing inside and install a sump pump. 21 year later we had a massive mold issue behind the walls and we come to find out these idiots DIDN'T even seal the floor with concrete up to the walls which allowed the moisture from the ground to seep up into the walls and cause brown and black mold so bad it caused health issues with all 4 (2 adults and and 2 young kids) of us in our house. Unfortunately due to statue of limitation I can not sue this useless company or the previous owners, I can only hit every site and slam them and tell EVERYONE they are a scam. Do the right thing and waterproof from the outside, it does not cost more. If they tell you that they are LYING to you. Anyone that thinks allowing water to come through a wall and redirect to a sump pump is naive. Solve the issue from outside. I would rate them a zero if I could. DO NOT USE THEM! OSW do you intend to make my my family whole again? How many times am I supposed to allow you in my home to remedy this? I don't trust your company or employees any further. At this point I am initiating action with the following entities and escalating this matter via legal avenues until your company agrees to a settlement in private in a timely manner. I had my basement waterproofed August of 2023. We were renovating the basement when I found water on the floor coming in from one of my walls. I called Ohio State Waterproofing and they sent their salesmen out to talk with my finance and myself. They were good at talking about what is wrong with my foundation and what hazards there are in the basement. They originally quoted me $240 a month for 10 years to waterproof my basement, add in the ez breeze and a new sump pump, roughly $24000. We agreed because they seemed like they knew what they were talking about and me being a first time home owner, I just wanted the water to stop coming into my basement. We proceeded forward to get the work done, the guys were in and out of my house in 2 1/2 days. Everything seemed pretty well done and it was all dry after they left. However a week or so later I noticed water still getting into my basement. I waited a little to see if it was just moisture, it wasn't so I called them back to take a look at it. The technician came and told me "the water isn't coming in from the ground, it's coming in from above your house", mind you he was able to tell me this while looking outside. None of the salesmen told me this, they even looked around outside and insisted it was coming in from the walls in my basement. So the technician said they couldn't do anything since it was coming in from above my first floor. I called serve pro up and they came out and diagnosed that my refrigerator was leaking and causing all of this water to enter my basement. I ended up having to rip up my main floor, rip up the ceiling in the basement and replace it all. Ohio State Waterproofing never found out where the water was coming in and never stopped it from entering the basement. Also all the concrete they poured into my basement has cracked and nothing was done about that when the technician was there. I have had conversations with their reps about reimbursement and all they said was we can hand you $1500. They said even though we have Water in our company name, we are a foundation company. I wouldn't recommend using them if you have water in your basement. They don't look for where the water is coming into your house. read more

We have their warranty(and have for years) and called last year(2022)for someone to come review an issue, and we were rudely told they didn't have staff to do that. Got a renewal notice for warranty this year in the mail and called to see if they'd extend due to lack of service and they said NO and they "aren't responsible for other people's rude behavior ". I'm glad we had multiple companies come out to give an estimate. The other two companies laughed when I showed them what Ohio State wanted to do. Both companies had the same solution that cost $28,000 less than what OSW quoted. What OSW wanted to sell me wouldn't even address the issue. The linear footage quoted was also a lot higher, like by over 60 ft. They destroyed part of my finished wall during the estimate as well. "Hold on, I have tin snips ", while I was getting them the estimator pulled the wall back breaking the board. Thanks guys!!!The high pressure sales tactics was pitiful. Ohio State Waterproofing did an excellent job, from the initial sales presentation all the way to the quality inspection. We are very pleased! The main crew, led by Mark, worked hard for 3 days to complete the installation. Mark and his crew were always attentive to me when I did a walkaround to check on their progress. These guys worked very good together. Mark's supervisor, James, also was here and he pitched right in as well, a sign of a good leader. A crew from another job finished up early and 4 guys came to assist the crew at my house on the 3rd and final day. I also want to commend OSW on bringing a crew of new hires to dig and observe their manager instruct them on OSW process. There's nothing better than on the job training! This group of guys were also hardworkers. Since my installation was about 2 weeks ago, I've even received a very nice welcome card from the service department. My wife and I are very happy that our basement is now waterproof. Overall, we definitely had a 5 star experience. Thank you Ohio State Waterproofing! This is the second time I used OSW. And I should have known no matter what they say it's gone to turn out totally different. And of course it did. We paid $15000 for this service. Because I was stupid enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. Most of the time I am easy to get along with. But today the last guy finally got here for quality control. So my husband and I told the guy, showed the guy and tried to make sense with him. He was the 3rd guy out over all this and they just pushed it to that one or this. But they did finally come out to fix a pipe THEY broke and just filled in with concrete. I WILL NEVER GO WITH OSW AGAIN. I turned the other cheek and they slapped that one too. Hard working crew! They worked their butts off for 5 long days. The crew was very professional. There were a few scratches and some residue on my freshly painted walls where they had to walk through my kitchen but I was able to patch/touch up them pretty easy. We did run into a "small plumbing problem" that we had to pay them $250 to fix before they could complete the job. That was a little frustrating but we had to get it done. Mind you I have never had any flooding in my basement, yep you guessed it, water in my basement. Meanwhile my subpump quit working, I have never had 1 problem with my pump, they put a battery backup on it with an alarm and yep you guessed it, now it doesnt work. Wish I could give 0 stars. How the hell are y'all still in business? We couldn't even get past the first stage of the damn process. So my husband and I are in the middle of buying a home and wanted to schedule an appointment because our inspector found water leaking in the basement. OHW told us that we wouldn't be able to schedule and that the current homeowner would need to instead. Fair enough. Well, the seller is 9 months pregnant and in the hospital, so she had her sister at the house to let the contractor in. The sister casually mentioned that it was her sister's house and the contractor immediately stopped all further action and left. Y'all just don't know how to do business. Families sit in for family members all the time - and this was just for a quote; no work was being done on the house. We're going with another business - y'all missed out on some potential clients. A nice salesman with no engineering background looked at our basement and recommended $20,000 worth of repairs. It was obvious his "training" consisted of boilerplate recommendations from the company playbook. Before deciding on basement work hire a structural engineer to get it right. I had my basement waterproofed by this company in July 2021, I was told it would take a week and they were done in three days. They left trash in my yard, tore up all around the house and just threw dirt at my house in an effort to "put the landscaping back". The concrete work is not smooth and clumped all around the walls to the point I cannot have flooring laid down until it is fixed. The encapsulated storage room still leaks and I have called about it three times and they refuse to fix it. The asbestos tile has been left cracked and crumbling when it was intact before the basement repair. The basement floor was left with piles of dirt and rocks all over. The new sump pump lid had clumps of concrete all over it and looks used. Some of the wall is starting to crumble where they didn't repair the cinderblocks and they didn't fill any floor cracks. There is still one corner that leaks water. I have called several times complaining and I get different responses every time such as promises to fix things then they never show, they sent an intimidating guy with a beard and tattoos one time who had an attitude and said "what do you want me to do about it" when I was pointing out the issues. Out of all the calls I had one person come out and fix an issue with my wall leaking that was pleasant and seemed to know what he was doing. Hiring this company is one of my biggest regrets and I feel like we will be going back and forth for a long time to get them to at least try to fix their shotty work. read more

I don't know why I waited so long to have my basement waterproofed but I am glad that Ohio State Waterproofing did it if you want that peace of mind and you don't want to worry about anything, let these professionals come and do their work and you will be amazed at how great they do it. Not only are they courteous but they hustle their butts off and get the job done and make it look easy but you can tell that it's very hard work and they take pride in it. I got one side of my basement waterproofed a year ago. They came out and did the job and all seems to be good so far. Only problem was they didn't clean up thoroughly. There was a few pieces of trash left behind and I had gravel in my grass after they were done. Please note!! THEY DO NOT OFFER A FREE WARRANTY. If you want to continue having the work and the equipment covered they make you pay $75 a year. They probably mentioned this in the beginning but I didn't remember. So after spending so much on the work I was surprised (not in a good way) to receive the $75 bill last week. I paid it because I really don't have a choice if something goes wrong. As a consumer, the fastest way to demonstrate that you have no confidence in your service and/or your sales team is to resort to "strong-arm" sales tactics. Kudos to Five other companies who do NOT require both owners be present for an estimate. I expect this from product pushers selling cabinets and bath/shower remodeling, but not from service providers.
