Piola is a casual Italian spot located in Midtown next to Jinya and Gen. We've been past it many times but just never tried it (Jinya is the usual target in this area). There are both interior and outside seating; they have a legit pizza oven inside. Service was quite poor, it was very slow to get follow up service and getting the check even when the restaurant was very empty. Food wise; the Caesar was a letdown; the dressing was not good despite the lettuce and cheese being what looked like decent quality; 1/5. The pizza's were fine but slightly burnt on the bottom. The hot honey pizza was a bit too sweet; pizza's at. 3.5/5. Their bolognese pasta was probably one of the better dishes there that we tried; 4/5. Overall, the food we've tried was fairly average, ambiance is alright, but I think with the stiff competition in the loop for similar style fast casual Italian restaurants, this one does not rise above the rest.

Ordered 3 pizzas amongst the 3 of us. Smells amazing. The atmosphere is fun and clean. The staff are quite attentive without being overbearing. The place has good music without being too loud. 9.7/10

I absolutely love Piola! I have tried many flavors, though I have to admit the Rio is my favorite, and I always add olives on top for that extra punch. At one point, I was so obsessed that I had it three Saturdays in a row... no regrets! The crust, toppings, and flavors are always spot-on, and it's quickly become one of my go-to spots for Brazilian pizza. I just wish they'd offer it with a catupiry border. The location I go to is the one in Memorial, and the customer service is excellent. If you haven't tried Piola yet, you're missing out!

Rio De Janeiro Pizza & Canareggio Pizza is amazing

Left speaking Italian and ate great pizza! Mamma mia mamma mia, great vibes and great fuel before a race. Also the drinks are great!

Went on a weekday evening and wasn't too crowded. The drink with sugar, vodka and choice of fruit was so good. I did pineapple. Highly recommend. Just came in for apps and had the garlic knots. They were soft but not garlicy at all. The sauce was good. The meatballs were pretty good too. The bread that came with them wasn't my favorite but it was soft. I would come here again for some basic apps and I'll try the entrees. Food came out fast. Staff was nice. Place was clean.

I absolutely cannot believe that this was my first time trying Piola! My friends and I were trying to get ramen next door, but it was super packed. We opted to go to Piola right next door! First impressions: I like that there's a parking garage and I like that this restaurants has a little patio area if people would like to dine outside! Service: service was excellent! So friendly and helpful. I did not catch my servers name but she was a woman and worked night of 11/25. Food: We shared a meat lovers pizza. I will say the pizza was a little floppy. Didn't hold its shape, BUT I'm not sure if that's just the styling of pizza? Just something to consider! After getting over the floppiness of the pizza, the taste was actually pretty good! I also got the Penne Cividale. This is a must have! I've never had a pasta that tastes like this, it was so good that I would just come back for it. Come and try yourself, definitely recommend the Pasta!

We went here on a whim since we were craving Italian and it was close by. Plus the pics looked great on Yelp. Monday evening around 7pm and it was not busy. Nice ambiance that is laid back. We had friendly service although it took a while to receive our check. Price point is a little higher than I expected for the portion sizes. Enticing drink menu but the drinks are a bit pricey including the non alcoholic lemonade ($6). We would have ordered dessert if the offerings were not so limited. We wound up grabbing ice cream to go at the creamery around the corner. Free parking in the garage is a plus. Caprese salad was great but for the price (we upgraded to burrata) there could have been more cheese. The caprese salad, one cocktail, 2 glasses of lemonade, lasagna, and bolognese came to $90+ tip. Truly I feel the meal should have been around $72 for the portion sizes and quality. Skip the beverages and have water to save $24 ;)

    Variety of gnocchi

I was so excited to try Piola's all you can eat gnocchi night, but honestly it was a disappointment. The gnocchi was doughy and heavy, and there wasn't anything to break up the denseness of it all. We did get the meatball appetizer that came with bread, so that helped a little. I did appreciate that there were many sauces to try with the gnocchi. The most unpleasant part of our meal here was the service. The waitress was very rude, and when I asked if she could bring out the big plates the gnocchi would be served on at the same time as our appetizer, she began complaining to the other servers in Spanish about our table and gave us a not very nice look. I would not recommend.

Pizza. Pizza. So my cousin surprised me with a delivery of a mushroom pizza. unsure but I think the place delivered and it wasn't via a food delivery service; that being said, the pizza was not hot (lukewarm) when it got here. She was a bit upset but it was edible. Reheated it in the air fryer to keep the crust crispy and the pizza was deliciously made. I really like the crust and how it was not overwhelming the actual pizza toppings. The base of the pizza was perfect, not too doughy. The mushrooms and cheese went well together. The ratio of sauce to cheese to mushroom was perfect. They do large cuts to the pizza. The fact that the reheat the next day was almost as good as when the pizza first got here says a lot about the quality. Def willing to give them another visit or order.

Kicking off the Nee Year on January 4 with Spaghetti day, and found this nice spot nestled in midtown to enjoy a plate. Parking garage behind it is convenient, I asked inside if it was ok to park there because last thing anyone needs is to be towed. And yes the garage is for Piola parking. The staff is extra friendly and attentive and the music and atmosphere is modern and relaxing. The spaghetti and meatballs were steaming when it arrived and throughout my eating it remained as such. Pasta was cooked just right but the meatballs needed a bit more flavor. For the drink I opted for their cocktail Lime Caipirinha, it's a Brazilian cocktail consisting of liquor, sugar and plenty of limes. Almost like a margarita. Do recommend the tiramisu, enjoyed that you could taste the flavors of the espresso. I've had others and they aren't prepared correctly. Overall enjoyed my visit and at reasonable prices, it's a good spot to come with friends or to treat yourself!

    Toscanini (salad)
    Sonia G.

We came here around 11:30 AM for a work lunch. There were about 15 of us with varying appetites. I ordered Toscanini and at first I was concerned because even though I was amongst the first to order, it took awhile to get my food relative to my colleagues. However, meal was worth the wait. It was very delicious and I ate all of it. The ingredients were very fresh and it had a very authentic Italian taste to it. I had a cappuccino afterward which was a good ending for the meal. Parking garage was very convenient and not at all busy this time of day during the week. Service was excellent although I am a little curious as to why there was only one server on duty? She was constantly moving and accomodating, although I am sure tired as all get out afterwards.

The food was all lovely: we had the insalata Bianca and the arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette, we both agreed the arugula salad was our favorite, I'm not usually a fan of a salad with just arugula in it, but this was so good I'm going to go home and try to duplicate the dressing so I can make all the time! We then had the Rabiola and Salsiccia E Friarielli pizzas, both cooked perfectly, our server recommended the rabiola and so glad we got it! First off, it's located in a cool little pocket on the East End inside Tlaquepaque Market. It looks a bit dark from the outside at night, but once you step in, it's warm and cozy. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. My wife and I shared the pane along with their Valentine's Day prix fixe menu, which included an appetizer, salad, pasta, and dessert. The pane came out warm - perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The starter was a scallop with pomegranate vinaigrette that was light, bright, and a great way to open up the palate. The salad (I think it was purple kale, but I forgot to ask) was fresh and well-balanced. For the main, we had a pasta dish topped with a ribeye meatball that featured a bold sauce with tons of flavor, and the meatball had a subtle kick to it. Dessert was a cherry gelato that was simple, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal. They also have a solid wine selection, which paired nicely with dinner. Service was great - our server Philip was clearly busy but still made sure to check on us regularly. Overall, this is a great East End date-night spot. They also have a spacious outdoor patio that feels like it was pulled straight out of an Italian backyard. We'll definitely be back.

Instead of ordering an appetizer and an entree, my friend and I decided to order 3 things from the appetizer menu: Arancini Montanare Impepata Napoletana The arancini was delicious! The exterior/crust wasn't too thick and was fried nicely. As for the filling, it had cheese, beef, and tomato sauce- yum! I really enjoyed the montanare because it came with 3 different toppings. Not to mention, the bread was fantastic! All 3 were great but my favorite was the one with smoked provolone, anchovy, and the red chili on top (I believe that's what the red topping is). The Impepata Napoletana was another solid dish- loved the white wine sauce with garlic and pepper. Although it was a tad bit too salty for me, it paired nicely with the bread. The pasta, vegetables, and mushrooms were bland and had no flavor. The bread was not fresh. When I asked for vinegar, they brought another oil mixture that wasn't what I asked for. The calamari came with a dried-out lemon that had clearly been sitting, and I had to ask for fresh slices. The pizza also didn't taste right, and the cheese had a grainy texture that didn't melt like normal pizza cheese. For what we paid, the quality didn't come close to matching the price. We ate maybe 10 percent of our food and left. I honestly don't understand how people are saying this place has fresh pasta and fresh ingredients. Based on our experience, it clearly did not. Real, honest reviews matter, and this was ours. I really wanted to like this place, but this just wasn't it. I won't be returning.
