(4.7 stars - because perfection is boring and I need something to dream about) Came into NE MLK's Pinto Thai on the soggy Wednesday before Thanksgiving looking like a drowned raccoon who lost a fight with an umbrella. Portland was doing its annual "let's remind everyone why we own 17 gore-tex jackets" impression, and I needed something to remind my soul that joy still exists. Enter the Chicken Massaman Curry: a glorious, golden-brown hug in a bowl. The sauce is rich, peanutty, and just sweet enough to feel like the universe is apologizing for the weather. Potatoes so tender they basically melt and wave goodbye on the way down, chicken that's clearly been treated with the respect it deserves, and that little whisper of cinnamon that makes you go "oh hello, fancy meeting you here." I ordered it medium spice because I'm a responsible adult (lies - I'm a chaos gremlin), and it delivered the perfect cozy kick: warm enough to defrost my fingers without making me regret my life choices. Ate it so fast I forgot table manners exist, then spent five minutes just staring lovingly at the empty bowl like it owed me rent. Bonus points: the staff/cook was cute and greeted me like I wasn't a dripping mop. Only docking 0.3 stars because now I have to wait a whole day before I can justify coming back without looking like I have a problem. 11/27/25 will be daydreaming about this curry while pretending to care about turkey tomorrow. My husband and I had just finished visiting the waterfalls and fish hatchery at the Columbia River Gorge and were pretty hungry. It was in the middle of a heat wave in August during our anniversary trip, but that didn't stop us from visiting Park the Carts. I love eating from various food carts and PDX has so much to offer in terms of selections. I hadn't had Thai food in a hot minute, and Pinto Thai was open. The pad tom yum caught my eye, as I've never seen it offered before. I decided to order it medium spicy with pork. The lady working the food cart was friendly, and my food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The container was extremely hot, which was a good sign. Maybe borderline too hot to grab, just something to note. My pad tom yum was served with fresh bean sprouts and a slice of lime, which I quickly squeezed on to the noodles. The dish was great, and while I didn't exactly taste as much tom yum flavor as I expected, I had zero complaints about the freshness of the ingredients. The pork was perfectly cooked and the noodles were springy and had a great texture. The spice level was also perfect for me. For what I paid, it was also a pretty big portion, and I had leftovers. Since it was a pretty hot afternoon, there were only a few other people at Park the Carts, which meant we had a quiet dining experience. Park the Carts also isn't very big, so I can imagine it getting pretty busy on a cooler day. The next time I visit PDX, I'm definitely coming back to Pinto Thai. I think I found one of my new go to food carts whenever I am craving Pad See Ew! I'm glad a cancelled DD order from another Thai restaurant happened otherwise I probably would not have checked out Pinto for lunch. I got my usual beef pad see ew and chicken fried rice and it was enough to share between two people. If you know me, I enjoy my pad see ew noodles on the drier sauce and brown. Pintothai didn't disappoint and they were nice and chewy without being overcooked and had plenty of flavor (more on the sweet side). The noodles didn't have any excess sauce so it was perfect for me! The only thing was that the beef wasn't the most tender but still pretty good. As for the rice, it was also tasty! Rice was flavored well and was a little saucier which wasn't bad since it was absorbed really well. Both dishes held up well as leftovers the next day too. Would be keen to try other dishes as well but will likely always get the pad see ew as one of the mains. read more

I love to explore flavors that are new to me, especially Asian flavors. But when it comes to Thai, I find that I always order Pad Se Ew. There's something about the thick noodles, soy flavors, broccoli and a big dab of chili sauce that makes me happy. Pintothai is close to my house, gives a healthy serving, and it is one of the best versions I've had in town so far. read more

I struggle finding good Thai food, having lived next door (Malaysia). Recommended the pad tom yum, and it's really good. A touch sweeter than what I'd find in country, but delish. To be fair, I've never had Thai food in the US that wasn't too sweet. Flavors on point, and definitely felt they nailed the flavors. If I'm being honest, I would give this place 3.5 stars, but there is no option for half stars on the Yelp app. I started out with the golden crab, which was very disgusting, frankly. While beautiful and fried to be a perfect golden color, the filling was 90% cream cheese, 10% crab. Not worth the money, and I ended up throwing out the other three after eating the first. However, the dish that saved this review was the duck curry!! The duck was cooked beautifully and was very tender. The skin was absolutely perfect too. I loved the broth and the mixture of flavors. It was a little spicy, but not so much it disturbed the dish. The rice was cooked well. Not to mention, the kind lady who took my order was extremely friendly and the service was quick! I hope to come back and try this cart again. Maybe the mixture for the golden crab filling was off today, so I'm giving a generous 4 stars in hopes that it was a fluke. read more

I came to this pod to eat at another cart, but when I walked past and saw that they had duck curry on special, my plans quickly changed. Who has two thumbs and likes duck? This guy. Well, the TLDR is that it just wasn't that great. The duck was fine, but so overpowered by the sauce and such that you didn't really pick up that flavor. I think it's because the curry was just SOOO sweet. There has to be a ton of sugar in it, and then they go and add pineapple. It was too sweet for me to finish and once I passed it off to my friend (a total curry fiend) he agreed. I wish I had gotten more than just this one dish, so that I could base my opinion on more. But this being their special, it left me with little desire to return. There's so much Thai in this city, I doubt I'll be back to give these folks another chance. read more

Needed Thai to help me with my mild hangover... it wasnt super cheap but what is these days? I got the eggplant with veggies and the tofu salad rolls and both satisfied me! Veggies weren't over cooked, sauce couldve been spicier but it was still yummy! The salad rolls couldve used some basil or something but I am very pro shredduce so they also hit the spot. I only ordered the spring rolls and the salad rolls, neither were great. I could tell the spring rolls werefrozen rather than fresh (the veggies were mushy) and the salad rolls were full of lettuce, they lacked herbs and the peanut sauce was sweet and too creamy. I won't be back. read more

Ordered salad rolls, spicy fried rice and pumpkin curry. The rolls and peanut sauce was amazing. The spicy fried rice lacked spice (I'll have to ask for extra spicy next time). The big bummer was the pumpkin curry. One of my favorite dishes, however this one tasted as if I ordered it with shrimp instead of chicken. There was so much fish sauce in it. I'm not a fan of seafood and so I was left with a dish I couldn't enjoy. Luckily my husband and daughter enjoy fish sauce and thoroughly enjoyed the dish. I keep this Thai spot on heavy rotation. I stick to the vegetarian options which are pretty standard with veggies and tofu and I'm always pretty happy with my choices. I like the glass noodle dishes and the tom yum fried rice. I'd say it's a small notch above some of the other thai food carts and also thai restaurants I've been to. Ordered larb and salad rolls. Wow was I disappointed. The lamb tasted like spicy fishy dog food. I honestly couldn't have been more shocked. Don't really think they should be calling this larb, as it resembles nothing like any larb I've ever had. Salad rolls were extremely mediocre, wrapper was too thick and inside had a taste that made me think some of the ingredients weren't fresh...
