One of the best things I like about Israel is his sense of timeliness and responsiveness. I have had situations wherein there was an emergency with plumbing and he came in to fix right next day. We did have a couple major projects with him and his team- converting a backyard shed to a proper room and replacing hardwood with laminate. Israel and his cousin both are very professional and they ensure that the work area is cleaned after they are done for the day. And again as expected, just as he is with being on time, he also completed the project as per plan- this is very rare with contractors. One thing to remember- when you plan a big project with Israel- make sure to note down everything that needs to be done and request itemized breakdown of all the tasks- which he does provide. I really wanted to like this guy based on the number of positive reviews here. However, dealing with Israel was like pulling teeth - long and excruciating. I first requested a quote for a small project of mine about 2 weeks before this review. He responded fairly quickly and gave me an estimate based on my description of the project. I was pleased that he seemed interested in helping me out and he even let me know that he will confirm with me the next day once he reviews his schedule, assuring me that he will help me before the weekend is through. Well, the weekend came and went and I didn't hear from him. So, I messaged him again letting him know that I was expecting his follow up. His response was almost like I was bothering him, informing me that he is available the following weekend instead. I replied that I was flexible time-wise and that I just needed him to confirm the time and his desired compensation so we can exchange contact info. Again, Israel fails to respond. Today, in a final attempt to give this guy my money, I messaged him again, reminding him that I am still waiting on his confirmation. Not surprisingly, he does not respond. Now, I don't pretend I know what is going on in this guy's life, but I feel that it is unforgivable for a supposed professional to leave a potential customer hanging. We live in a mobile home park and needed our stair case and deck fixed up. Contacted the Pintor Handyman and Israel contacted me immediately. I scheduled an appointment to review the work and quoted me an estimate. He scheduled a time a couple of days later to start the work. He and his team showed up, knocked out the staircase and deck within 1.5 days. He was prepared with paint examples and went to the store and picked up the paint. Did an incredible job. I was looking for someone to remodel our small 1/2 bath and found Israel on Yelp. He responded quickly and came out early February to give me a quote. I went with my instincts and hired him (without checking references, which isn't like me). He replaced the bathroom sink which required new plumbing, added electrical, installed beadboard, new baseboards, new window trim, painted all in 4 days. He was punctual, professional and the bathroom turned out great! (looks just like my Pinterest mood board) I would highly recommend his services. His pricing was also very fair compared to the other quotes I received. After the work was done, he made sure that the area was left clean. He even took away my old toilet to dispose of for me. I needed minor fixes at a rental property and contacted Israel over phone on May 7th. Although his quote was higher than others, he was available to come the next day. I explained to Israel that I need to drive for 25 miles and made an appointment for him to come over at 4 pm. Israel showed up 30 mins late (which I found out only after following-up) on May 8th and then told me that he cannot do the work on that day since he is exhausted. I checked if he had few minutes and took him inside the property to walk through the items that needed fixing. I asked him if he charges by hour and he clarified that he charges based on the project and the work involved to fix things. We re-confirmed the quote he gave the previous day on phone and made another appointment on May 11th at 2:30 pm. Israel showed up with one of his associates on May 11th at 2:30 pm. I observed that both of them didn't wear a mask and requested them to cover themselves while they are working inside the property. Finally, Israel was able to fix 3 out of 5 items in the list. The wind screen he put together did not fit into the window properly and he was unable to fix the 2 electric plugs which were part of the quote. When I reminded him that we agreed on a project-based-quote, he was very unprofessional and demanded full pay even though all the items in the project were not completed. Israel and his associate did not even bother to clean up after the repairs. After they left, we had to sanitize the entire property because Israel & his associate did not cover themselves consistently. Upon my continued insistence to obtain an invoice for the work, he emailed one the next day with a company name and address that could not even be verified. Also, there wasn't any license # listed. I had to find another professional handyman to come out and look at the items that need fixing again. Based on my experience, my advise to others is to obtain a detailed written estimate and verify the license upfront if you are considering to engage this handyman. read more

2 stars because of the hard-work. Hire him for other things except plumbing. To stop a small leak in the pipe, he messed up all the water faucets and commode utilities in the house. Not to mention that to dry up the water in pipes, he procured bread from me and that led to whole situation. He promised to fix it, but, in the process destroyed the kitchen faucet which is irreparable and on top of that caused huge inconvenience. Think before you hire. read more

My bathroom sink cracked in half a few days before Thanksgiving, when my house would be full of family for dinner. I needed to have the vanity pulled out and replaced. I even talked to him on the phone to provide him with more info and I specifically told him to not cancel. But when came the day and time, it was a no show!! Israel is the right handyman I was looking for- prompt, courteous, multi-skilled, knowledgeable and above all reasonable. I used him for installing a remote controlled Ceiling fan replacing a light fixture. He came on time and finished the job within the time he estimated. He not only cleaned the job site vacuuming but went above and beyond mopping the entire floor. He even changed the defective switch for an additional fee, which I was not expecting as I did not have it with me. Israel remodeled our bathroom. He converted a bathtub shower combo into a shower. This including replacing the shower wall, installing shower doors and moving the faucet handle up higher for a normal shower. He was responsive and efficient. His prices were pretty good. At times he has another crew of people doing the work for him that did not speak any english which made it a little difficult, but I would definitely use him again for any home remodeling. read more
