Let's start with the initial stages. I sent a yelp request asking for a quote and he sent me a price based on the photos. He didn't ask to stop by in person to view it, but I wanted to meet him before selecting him as my contractor. He took the extra step and came by and his quote was in the range of his yelp response back to me. Luis repaired several holes in my ceiling and achieved the perfect result of what I was looking for which was to make it look like there was no damage in the first place. His work is top notch and he is also very easy to work with. In addition, he was able to provide a receipt right after the job which was great. Some contractors getting a receipt is tough and you need to chase them, but he was very good about this. I would most definitely hire him again also because he is an honest guy. I've dealt with contractors who do the bait and switch or scare tactics to up the price and he's transparent with high quality work. Luis, the boss, did a fantastic job on patching my ceiling drywall. He does the difficult jobs where blending, and etc, are needed. To check the work, I used a shop light at different distances/angles (because OCD) and checked the patch angle and texture. Everything was perfect. There was no dirt tracked into my house because he laid down plastic and covered the entire path from my front door to the work area. There was even a curtain set up around the repair area to keep stuff clean. Lastly, the price was right (same as the estimate!). P.S. Luis and team did an excellent job finishing the drywall in my 2-car garage. I did the drywall installation and hired Luis to tape/mud/finish. Part of the job required adding "pink" fire mud to the separation wall between the garage and the house. I didn't mention this at first, but Luis came back on his own time and applied the required fire mud to the wall. The normal process for many of us is to get a few estimates before you start the hiring. I started requesting estimate since February of this year. I am building a new construction of garage and ADU so I only have a set of plans to show. To my surprise, I only get a couple of estimates and Luis was the first to respond with a detailed and actual estimate. I was amazed that he answered all questions based on a set of plans. He is very sharp! I met with Luis in person 5 months after the estimate because my construction was ready for drywall. He and his team was very efficient from the first day of work till the last day of work. He does great quality work and he took his time to clean up the site once he is done. He is very reliable. He always come on time and ready to work. And one more thing, if your project is under inspection by the City of San Jose, and they required you to do CDD review, Luis knows how to get that done. Our kitchen ceiling had a different texture than the adjacent family. It was fine when there were a set of upper cabinets that divided the space. When we renovated the kitchen and took out the upper cabinets, we needed to match the textures. There were also some drywall patches from left from replacing a recessed fluorescent box light with more modern recessed pot lights. Luis came by and gave me a very reasonable quote (I reached out to 4 contractors in total) to re-texture the entire kitchen ceiling and exposed walls. My main concern was to make sure the transition to the family room was seamless, and he assured me it would be, and indeed delivered on his promise.
