They see me bowlin' They hatin' And rollin', they tryna catch me strikin' dirty For those unfamiliar with the concept, Pinstripes is essentially an upscale bowling alley that also has bocce courts and a full-service restaurant. The *intent* is to cater more towards adults, but unlike Dave & Busters, Pinstripes does not have any age restrictions..... ......and maybe they should. The first two visits to Pinstripes (the Oakbrook Center location) were devoid of screaming little kids and made for a pair of highly enjoyable outings. No such luck on this 3rd visit. A gaggle of hyperactive girls--ranging from 7 to 11--appeared to be running laps around the dining area on a Friday night at 8pm and distracting from an otherwise trendy atmosphere. One waitress bluntly told them "hey, no running. NO RUNNING!!" Naturally, this request fell on deaf prepubescent ears. Ignoring the obvious disruptions, our dinner was great. I've yet to be disappointed by the food at Pinstripes. An excellent menu with a wide variety of choices and a deep wine selection. Lauren D and myself opted out of the appetizer and instead got a bowl of lobster bisque to share. Rich, creamy, and not short on the actual lobster content, it was pretty darn good. Her chicken marsala got a thumbs-up, which came with a terrific risotto and mixed field greens. My prime rib sandwich au jus was as tasty as I remember, although I regret not trying something different. The free bread was naan with green pesto, a lovely changeup from the typical crusty white junk with butter. Dessert was caramelized cheesecake and a seasonal sorbet, which this time around was a totally refreshing mandarin orange. A check-in with Yelp got us the sorbet for $0.00, a great perk! Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 3 (service was a meager 2, other aspects were a solid 4) I don't think our server was overwhelmed, just negligent. He ignored us for extended periods of time and forgot refills on soft drinks. Separately, he had to ask me thrice what I ordered for dessert (couldn't even remember it the 2nd time around) and generally was kinda taking his sweet muthafluffin' time doing his job. Thankfully I had the company of the lovely Laura D, or else I would've gone crazy and started serving my own goddamn table. As for the bowling, it's pretty pricey (pay-per-hour) and although the lanes made for some excellent throws (set a personal high of 150, beee-otch!) including a holy-sh*tnuts-did-I-seriously-just-bowl-that TURKEY, I wouldn't necessarily recommend coming here strictly for bowling. Bocce and food, sure, but you're better off elsewhere if all you care about is picking up that elusive 7-10 split. However, Pinstripes does have table service and some majorly comfortable sofas to lounge on between rolls. This ain't no cheesy-pizza-and-pitcher-of-pop Brunswick Zone; these dudes rock a delightful "je ne sais quoi" that makes an ideal destination for a date night or small group gathering. Very hip, very cool, very fun. As long as there aren't too many chilluns around. I've been racking my brain to think up a decent bowling pun.....but I don't think I have any good ones to SPARE. Honestly, I had a list but then I gave all the corny ones a STRIKEthrough. So I'll turn things over to David Caruso, the master of all things innuendo. Take it away, Lieutenant Horatio Caine! "The killer was apprehended just outside the premises, after reports indicated he liked to frequent Pinstripes. I guess you might say this place was right up his.......alley." YYYEAAAAAHHH read more

Yes, Pinstripes is a cool and hip place for bowling or bocce...they have function rooms where you can hold private parties or other events... I've had my son's birthday celebration here a few years ago and I've been dining every now and then with co-workers. They used to have specials before, like my favorite fried chicken meal, I've had so many good memories with those chickens:) They had specials on ribs, cocktails, endless soups and salads... Sadly, they don't have those specials anymore. Tonight, my friends and I chose Pinstripes to get dinner and "catch up" (meaning long hours of talking and no bathroom type of catching up). Here is a breakdown of what we had: CEASAR SALAD WITH SALMON - good but not great. Salmon was delicious. OPEN FACED SALMON SANDWICH- good but nothing special. The side salad was fresh and had a light dressing. SHORT RIB- ok, so my friend didn't actually share her dish:( but... She said that it was great, very tender and had great flavor. I could actually smell the meat and it smelled and looked delicious. I really wish she'd let me have a small piece:) Overall, the service was great, our server Julio was on point, very attentive and he actually gave my friend the Short Rib suggestion(did I mention that she didn't share?) :) The place was very busy so I recommend making reservations. The interiors are nice, clean, and well maintained, so as the bathrooms(they're outside of the dining area though). My only issue is, I think for the portion sizes and that the dishes have nothing special to go ga ga for, their meals are over priced. There is no item in the menu that's under $12, even for appetizers. I've tried their flatbreads, a few pasta dishes, and burgers. They were just ok that's why for me, their pricey dishes are not worthy of me craving for dining at Pinstripes. It's a fun place for kids though. read more

Great birthday experience. Excellent buffet. Nice atmosphere. Service was top notch. Highly recommend

one of our favorite patios on the north shore and the food never disappoints! Thus time I had the lobster bisque which had wonderful flavor and topped with generous bits of flaked lobster. my husband enjoyed the chicken avacado flatbread but really all the flatbread choices are great! read more

Bocce and bowling are fun, but the price has gotta be right. The food is butter, oil, and fat disguised as subpar pastas and lasagnas. The salads are alright, but the desserts are like prepackaged brownies and cheesecake put on plates with chocolate squiggles on them. I'll come here when it's on the corporate tab. :o) read more

The food is so good! All of the staff excelled in customer service. I love the ambience. We went to the brunch yesterday, it was fabulous! Every time I have out of town guests, we go to Pinstripes. It's just a fun place to have dinner and visit. I love it! read more

The service was very good and they were very accommodating. The big problem is that they pre-authorized our debit for almost $385. So we paid a bill of $461, which was taken out in a couple days, but the pre-authorization of $385 is still sitting out there pending and out of our account. They were less than helpful when we called about the issue. Terrible business practice. Not returning. read more

Attended a bar mitzvah event held here a couple of weeks ago. It was well run. Plenty of food and drinks available during first hour with servers walking among guests. Indoor bowling and bocce ball looked fun, but not part of event. If I lived in Chicago I would definitely go back again read more

So so happy with this location as a venue for my sisters baby shower during COVID. This hidden gem has an event space overlooking greenery that was perfect for the type of indoor/ outdoor space we needed. It was large enough to make everyone feel comfortable during the pandemic and small enough that it was intimate. I worked with Sami to plan an event. She was responsive and thoughtful. Vivek helped us the day of and were so accommodating. They went above and beyond in a way they didn't have to including: 1. Letting us set up early 2. Finding a candle when a baby started crying for one 3. Cutting and plating the cake 4. Finding wood glue after my cake topper broke 5. Finding pens for all my guests to play games 6. Adjusting the mimosa toast to wait for additional guests 7. Customizing a vegetarian menu for my group 8. Refrigerating a store bought cake 9. Lowering our deposit due to uncertainty regarding COVID laws 10. Providing a complimentary virgin (by request) mimosa toast due to not being able to provide a mimosa bar due to Covid 11. Setting up our table near a brick wall that I requested to prop up decor (They did not have to do ANY of these things) The event went seamlessly due to this incredible team. There was even a wedding reception next to us! The staff consistently wore masks even though it was hot and also checked in with me regularly so the timing of everything was perfect. Thanks for a great event pinstripes! PS- The layout and separate space does NOT make it feel like your nice event is happening at a "bowling alley". read more

So my husband took me here for my birthday...and we were pretty much here all day..! It was a surprise birthday, & him and I had the brunch breakfast, which is to dieeee for! It was the best brunch I've ever had in my life!!! Make sure u go before 2pm, cuz that's when it ends. We left for a bit & came back with friends...my husband made reservations the night before, and they couldn't find them!!! So they let us play for an hour and a half on the house....shoes and socks included! It was a really nice thing of them to do, and my birthday night was saved!!! They also gave us a few complimentary games of bowling for the trouble! The only reason I docked a star was because we had the same waitress all day, and she wasn't very friendly, and sort of rushed us...which our guests didn't like, and forced them to close their tabs and just order from the bar. Other than that though, we enjoyed the night, and I also got a glass of wine on the house since it was my birthday! Love this place and we'll come back for sure!!! read more

Casual/comfortable atmosphere. Server was excellent -- not pushy, but most helpful, when needed. Food was very good with fresh refills of food being brought out often. Having beverages included (except juices or alcohol) with the brunch buffet was a great addition. Most importantly, it is wonderful that Pinstripes now has Brunch Buffet on Saturdays as well as Sundays! Will visit more often now that we can go on a Saturday, too! read more

Food is super mediocre but still. A fun place to kill a few hours on occasion. Patio is kinda nice. Bowling alley is pretty nice for what it is. Idk who the hell is playing bocce ball. That's a waste of space read more

I attended Pinstripes with some colleagues for a team building event after meetings all day. While I didn't know all of the components of the place, it seemed that they had bowling so I was really excited to play a few games and explore its other aspects. Pinstripes is a fairly large space; from what I could gather, they have a number of bowling lanes as well as some bocce ball courts. There may have been other things, but this is what I saw and the activities we were told were open to us. The space looks very clean and open; the ceilings are super high which really adds to the grandness. Before playing, we had dinner. Because we were a group of ~30, they served us buffet style. The food was pretty good - chicken, sliders, a selection of salads, etc. There was nothing too off the wall, and while the food wasn't a standout it was tasty. The accommodations for the activities was great. The bocce lanes were nice and wide, and they had print outs for those who didn't know how to play; one of the staff also helped us out when we had questions about the game. Bowling was fun too - they had shoes and socks laid out for us and any technical issues with the lanes were fixed promptly. Service was great; they were on top of refreshing our drinks and making sure everyone was taken care of. Overall, I had a fun time at Pinstripes - it's definitely an option for a group gathering or to just hang out, grab a bite, and play some games. read more

Great food, great atmosphere, great cocktails and bocce/bowling. What else could you ask for?! Thanks Pinstripes for always providing a fun experience with terrific service. Pinstripes is one of my favorite go to spots. There's a little something for everyone in the family like bocci ball and bowling; but I personally like to gather with my girlfriends on a Friday after work for the happy hour menu. The ambiance is great for a casual meet up. The variety of flatbread pizzas are very tasty and just right and they are half-off from 4-6:30pm. The cocktails are said to be tasty, especially the Margarita Italiano. My favorite flatbread is the avocado chicken. I have one friend who always eats two of them every time we go. The music in the bar area is a little bit loud for conversation but I guess it keeps the spirit high there. I'd definitely recommend Pinstripes for small social gatherings without breaking the bank. read more

I'm a huge fan of pinstripes. The service is regularly good, the food is good and a good portion size, and they are very accommodating to kids! Make a reservation for brunch, which tends to get very crowded. Drinks are not included, but the price for mimosas is very very reasonable. The Sunday brunch is a great value at $28. It's very reasonable, kids are$12, and kids under 5 eat free. They have a separate kids buffet which is fabulous, and an omelette station (egg whites are available), with fresh vegetables. The waffle station has fresh sliced fruit and very flavorful toppings. The best is the dessert bar, which has a chocolate fountain and many different desserts, including my favorite, rice krispy treats on a stick! Remember you can also work off your meal by bowling or playing bacce! read more

There's a lot I like about Pinstripes--the food, drinks, open space, bonfire on the patio, brunch and yoga, etc. The list can go on and on. However, my experience there yesterday was uncharacteristically disappointing. First off, service is slow, no matter how many other people there are in the restaurant. That's just the way it is--don't plan on a quick dining experience here. I got in to Pinstripes at about 10:15pm, after having seen a play downtown. I knew Pinstripes was open, so I went there with my boyfriend. I learned that they have a "late night" dining menu, which understandably has a smaller selection than there usual fare. As I read through the menu, I was disappointed that there were no healthy options listed. Most of the items were either fried or different combinations of carbs and cheese. I figured that they would be able to make me a salad--nothing fancy, just something green--but the waiter told me that the salad option was "closed." Fine, I decided to order their grilled chicken sandwich, sans the bread. To my surprise, the chicken came on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes. So I got an unnecessary order of chicken thrown on top of the salad that I wanted instead, yet salad was not an option. What is the logic here?? Icing on the cake--I did a Yelp "check-in" during my meal and saw the free gelato/sorbet option pop up. I tried to claim it but my waiter said he "couldn't find the chef" and that he wouldn't be able to get it for me. Seriously? Who needs a chef to find a tub of gelato, put one scoop in a bowl, and send it to the table? Honestly, going to Jewel and buying a bag of lettuce and a tub of gelato would have been a FAR better experience. Kudos to the waiter for giving us a coupon in case we ever want to replicate this terrible dining experience. I don't plan on returning to this location anytime soon. read more

Beyond disappointed that you cannot walk in and be able to bowl on a weekday afternoon. Told there was nothing available for 5.5 hours when there were about 6 lanes totally open. Came here for lunch with my family. Burger was less than mediocre, $16 for a cheese pizza that I couldn't swallow. The crust was very bland, sauce too salty, nothing any of us ate was good. Portion was small. Service was good tho. read more

Service was lacking. Staff was not attentive enough to make sure the drink and food orders were correct and included everything that was asked for. We experienced a few mishaps. There was also no hostess to seat us for dinner after we were done playing Bocce Ball so we had to wait until finally someone came around. The drinks are way over priced, especially the wine since Pinstripes only fills a small glass half way. It's bad enough the glass itself is small. Would definitely not go back for dinner. Food is underwhelming at best except for the flatbreads. I would expect a manager to be going around and asking people if everything was ok but I saw no one who resembled a manager or someone in charge. We will return but to only play Bocce Ball or for bowling. We'll go elsewhere to eat next time. read more

$138 for 2 adults and 2 children to bowl? No thanks. Add food and drinks and over $250! I don't mind paying for a night out but this place is ridiculous. To top this off we got bad service, old worn dirty shoes and the lane wasn't clean. Wouldn't try again. read more

I read lots of yelp reviews of pinstripes before going today. my expectations were very low. we had a lane booked for an hour from 11:30 and were promptly shown to our lane. Bowling. Shoes were clean with whole laces. Ball selection was limited. The lanes are dry. Bowling at pinstripes is for non-serious occasional bowlers. it is ideal for small children. I surmise that oiled lanes might offer a slipping hazard if small children step past the foul line. Many of the groups included children whose age was less than the weight of their bowling ball. Food: Menu on the lane was limited. We had soft drinks. our food had not shown up as of 12:15. Apparently the order was lost by our waiter. My wife brought this to the attention of the manager. the manager apologized and extended our bowling time for free. The food was reordered. At the end of the day we were not charged for the food or the bowling. This was a very generous response. My surmise: the managers have also read the yelp reviews and are trying harder! Good for them! read more

The service was horrible & food mediocre. Our waiter, Rick, basically forgot about us every step of the way. Had to flag down other personnel to get help. So my review is strictly for the dining area. My husband and I came by on a Friday for a 1pm lunch, we waited at least 7mins before away acknowledged us at the hostess podium, at that point I asked a server walking by "can you please get someone to seat us?" After that the hostess came and sat us down in a comfy booth. Our waitress was very nice and efficient, I took a star off because of the long wait to just be seated when there wasn't anyone in front on us. So I removed 1 more stars because wow the food is extremely overpriced. We had the calamari which was good but the size of it was the palm of my hand and it cost $14. Then I had an overdressed Caesar salad which wasn't bad, it came with bruschetta which looked lovely visually but the bread wasn't fresh, kinda that soggy not crisp texture. We did have Tiramisu for desert which was good too but again for a small piece it was expensive. read more

I wish there were 10+ stars because they would get them all. My husband and I had our reception in sept 2023 at pinstripes in the all seasons patio and i could not recommend here more! We had about 150 people attend and all they could rave about was their food. We had a couple different options (medallions and chicken parm) along with amazing apps and sides and by the end of the night my guests couldn't stop talking about the food. Not only was the food amazing, the whole planning process was SO easy. Sami went above and beyond for us, as I hear she does for anyone she works with. The venue already comes with BEAUTIFUL decor that decor wasn't even something I had to worry about when planning our reception. Everyone you work with there cares only about making your special day, just that. Service was amazing, food, location, staff and most of all atmosphere was everything and more we could have asked for. I will (and do) recommend anyone I know who's about to have an event, to have it here. We are so thankful for Sami and everyone else involved because you all made it the best day of our lives. I call it a hidden gem because a lot of people don't realize what they have to offer. They won't let you down so I highly HIGHLY recommend hosting an event here or even just getting a bite to eat! read more

This review is in regards to service and events planning.. absolute horrible service.. I came in on Monday to check the venue out and asked to speak with an events planner to set up daughters birthday.. they said no one was available but if I filled out a card that they make sure to respond to them by the end of the day.. no call.. so I called the next day and left a message with the events director. No response. Called back and got another events planner Sammy on the phone. She rushed me off the phone and said she had a meeting. And that she would email me some info on ordering food for the adults of my daughters party. No email. No response. Called back and left a message for a manager. Again no response. I'm here willing to spend and book a party. I'm having to chase them down and cannot get a call back by anyone after days of reaching out to everyone and even walking in./. Horrible service and would never trust them to hold an event here after this treatment as you can never know when they will decide to never call you back.. complete embarrassment.. just shut your doors at this point.. read more

Came here for a family night. Nice place, suitable for an older crowd, but still able to bring small children. The bowling was fun! The lanes were clean, and bumpers were available for the kids. Socks are free with shoe rental. Only reason I'm docking down two stars is for the food and the server. The food and drinks were about ~$10-$20/plate and the flavors were only average. Nothing special. We came with a large group, and essentially the server made us split our own check. Tip: Yelp check-in gets you a free ice cream! read more

I was so pleasantly surprised. I expected Pinstripes to be all about the entertainment gimmick and not at all about the food. But my lunch was delicious. I had the bottomless soup and chopped salad combo. The salad was a lovely blend of savory and sweet and the chicken dumpling soup was hearty and a little peppery. Checked in on Yelp and was surprised to get a free scoop of gelato or sorbet. The watermelon mint sorbet was delicious, and beautifully presented. We sat in a shady spot on the back patio, and had fantastic service from Q, who was really friendly and fun to chat with. Overall a really enjoyable lunch experience. read more
