We ordered a Chicken Italian Dumpling soup, a Chicken and Goat Cheese Pasta, and a Lobster Mac and Cheese. The Chicken Italian Dumpling soup was pretty similar in taste to a regular chicken soup, but it had a few gnocchi dumplings; it was warm and comforting, but otherwise pretty standard. The pastas were delicious. The Lobster Mac and Cheese came with some crispy slices of bread, lobster meat, and shrimp meat, and garnished with scallions. The sauce was creamy, buttery, and smooth; it was very rich, but at the perfect consistency. Overall, a really tasty, decadent Mac and Cheese. The Chicken and Goat Cheese Pasta was very good too. The whole sauce was infused with the taste of rosemary and other herbs, creamy without being overbearing. The little goat cheese bits really complemented the flavor of the sauce nicely. The only drawback was that the sauce and the chicken meat were both extremely salty, which made finishing the portion difficult. read more

Bowling, bocce ball, and a beautiful view of the river? Don't mind if I do. I came here with a couple of friends for the happy hour deals. Honestly, we weren't expecting much because we knew about the entertainment and were expecting classic bar food. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious! I got the Brussels sprouts and the prosciutto fig flatbread (both on the happy hour menu) and would recommend you try them both. The Brussels had a little spice to it so be careful. The flatbread had a great mix of salty and sweet with the cheese binding it all together. My friend got the wings (which were huge). Celebrated a friend's 50th Birthday with Bowling and Cocktails. 2 Martinis, a Limoncello, Prime Rib Sandwich and Sweet Potato casserole was yummy My performance at Bowling, not so much. They only had 1 pair of size 12 shoes and those looked like they had been trampled by a herd of Boar, so I had to settle for a size 13 that kept slipping off my feet. BAH! The tables weren't even set up when we arrived and we had to help the staff with that. They showed 4 of our guests to the wrong section of the restaurant and had them sit by themselves for 20 minutes. The waitress didn't take our drink order for 30 minutes. I had to chase her down to take our food order. We didn't eat for over an hour. Then the manager, in front of my guests, told me that the Sunday special pricing no longer applies as of 2 weeks ago even though I confirmed that it did when I made the reservation as well as the day of the party. Then I had to chase the waitress down to clear the table for dessert. The party was a disaster. No wonder Pinstripes has filed for bankruptcy. read more

Pinstripes is a fun and classy place to enjoy bowling or bocce with friends. We went Tuesday night and overall had a nice time. We used the valet parking in front. For 15$ the price was fair and of course the service was convenient ( frankly priceless!) on a cold winter evening, We checked in and were led to pick out our bowling shoes. The bowling area downstairs is lovely and has a clubby feel complete with comfortable leather chairs and couches. The actual bowling was a tiny bit odd- can't really put my finger on it but lane almost wobbled a bit. Half of our party noticed the odd way the ball traveled down the lane and half didn't notice so clearly it wasn't too bad overall and we definitely had fun! We ordered some both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks while we bowled ( my glass of moscato was great, my daughter's Shirley temple was unfortunately miss with a weird aftertaste ). Our waitress who served us while we bowled was very sweet. We then headed upstairs to have dinner. Initially we thought we'd order food and eat while we bowled but something felt a bit unsanitary about doing that so opted to eat after bowling instead. The hostess at the restaurant was snippy when we told her we didn't have a reservation ( when we checked in an hour before for the bowling the person at the front desk assured us we'd have no problems getting a table after we bowled so we didn't think twice about it). What's comical about the restaurant hostess' reaction for our polite request to have a table was that the restaurant was 3/4 empty the whole time we were there. We did get seated and from that point on the service did get better ( a little slow but at least our waitress was friendly and kind) . The food at pinstripes is solidly good. I ordered a super salad which was fresh and delicious ( ingredients included dried fruit, nuts, avocado, kale, grains). My friend went with the sliders which she thought were excellent. Our children ordered from the kids menu which at $10 for a drink, entree and dessert is a good deal ( entrees include typical kid offerings like noodles, chicken fingers, pizza and desserts like chocolate chip cookies, root beer float ) Overall, we had a super fun evening. Not cheap ( for our party of 2 adults and 2 kids it cost about $215/ $230: 1 hour of bowling for 4 people ( 85$) Dinner ( with two of the meals being children's meals and then 1 slider appetizer which was my friends meal and one full sized salad and a side of fries ) about $100 2 alcoholic drinks ( consumed while we were bowling ) 2 kid drinks ( consumed while we were bowling ) Drink total was $30 plus tip ) Valet ( 15$) Due to the hefty overall price tag won't be a regular but would love to come back yearly for an annual outing here! In town for a conference and the team decided to come here for Bocce. We had a great time! The food is pretty tasty, I had the salmon and a mock-tail which was super refreshing. And my desert was so good! Loved the brown and gelato. The Bocce game was fun once we got the hang of it. The waiter was very attentive and took care of our large group but we had a problem with our bill. First they said they would split our tables and did not. The front desk lady that was helping us left for the day while we were trying to figure out our bill. The manager had us wait to speak to him while he continued to train a person. He came over after we were loud and said was he the manger. This is an awesome place to hangout but today the service was not great once we had an issue with our bill. After being disappointed with mixed up reservations at the Walnut Room - Macys, we decided to try the Santa Brunch at Pinstripes. What a great choice! Walking in Santa was right in front to greet our group of 10! The kids were so excited. The food was fabulous! EVERY SINGLE THING I ate was delicious! We loved the omelette station, waffle station and carving stations! I love salads and I was not disappointed. The salads were so crispy and fresh. I must say the ceasar salad dressing was just the best i've ever had, I meant to ask about it! Besides all of the wonder breakfast foods, the lunch was just as amazing. The icing on the cake was the chocolate fountain. My son and his little friends were so amazed and really enjoyed trying different things dipped in chocolate. This review is for the bowling only. Pinstripes is definitely on the pricier end of bowling alleys. The saying is true though: you get what you pay for. The lanes were in excellent shape as were the shoes. We had our own couch area by the lane and the scoring system was high tech. Unlike many of the other local alleys I've visited, we never had a single issue with the lane/pins needing to be reset. While bowling, you'll also have a waiter come to you at the lanes. We were thrilled to see they offer bottomless mimosas while bowling on the weekends. This was a case where we truly didn't see the bottom of our glasses. read more

Located near Navy Pier on Illinois Street, this lovely Streeterville restaurant has good food, games, and friendly staff. On Fridays in July, there is an all you can eat buffet with beer special. Outdoor dining near the river on the second level, is the location of the barbecue. So the stars of the buffet are the mini burgers, salad, crispy and delectable brussel sprouts, homemade potato chips, watermelon, and chocolate chip cookies. The Chicago style ribs could have been better. There was a tipsy and rowdy female patron but the manager and assistant managers personally assured me that was an isolated incident and not typical. We were able to request seating on the patio which was a lovely place to eat. It was well shaded and had great views of the river. We were used to personal attention since we are frequent diners. The manager has changed & all the servers that we liked are gone!! So, we were pleasantly surprised at the beautiful ambiance and amazing service! Aside from those things, the food is absolutely delicious! I ordered the ribeye that came with two sides ($36), and it had the best flavor of any steak I've ever had!! It was cooked to perfection! My daughter had the Signature Chop Salad($17) and added the Ahi tuna ($8) to it! It was the perfect blend of fresh vegetables and the crisp noodles added the best crunch! To top it off, the desserts were delicious! My daughter was surprised with a celebration sundae with a candle for her 16th birthday, and I had the Caramelized Cheesecake ($10). A perfect ending! While the food was amazing and the atmosphere pleasant, our service was the strangest and most disappointing I've had in a long time. We had a large party reservation (18) and they were ready for us, however, our server told us up front that she could only put in 6 orders at a time, so she went back and forth taking drink orders then food orders. Suddenly, appetizers and dinners came out (at the same time) for the first five people and the last 6 hadn't even ordered yet! We had people done eating and others who hadn't even gotten their food. Had family in from out of town and we were their tour guides for the day. Pinstripes was a six minute walk from navy pier so we decided to head that way. No reservations were needed and we were seated right away. We picked outdoor seating because it was a beautiful day. Everything was great in the beginning. We ordered a pepperoni flat bread, calamari and a salad. The food was great and a few Margaritas as well. The restaurant was clean and the food was great but the waiter disappeared for over an hour. No checking to see if we were ok or needed anything. He was gone so long that I had to go to the front desk and ask that our waiter disappeared. He finally showed up and and asked if we wanted dessert by then we where ready to go. Not professional at all.
