A hidden gem comic book/trading card store located in Brooklyn under the F train line. You'll need to ring the bell to get in but once inside you'll feel like a kid inside of a candy store. Literally there are soooo many comics in here (maybe even a million?). Long boxes full of older and newer comic books (rarer ones are behind the counter). It can get a bit overwhelming since there's soo much to go through but I could literally stay there for hours digging through them. There is nothing fancy or anything inside. Strictly comic books, sport cards, and action figures (although I saw some old game cartridge in the back). This is owned by an older couple who have been doing this before some of you were even born. Ended up scooping up a few comic books that i wanted as a kid. Prices are fair as well. You have to REALLY know what you want to find yourself in Pinocchio Discounts. They are a sports card and comic store, and a classic one at that. You have to knock on the door or ring the bell to gain access, and when you walk in you are bombarded by the biggest mess in history, but it's a mess that will make you smile. All you will see are piles and piles of comics on your right, and boxes upon boxes of baseball / basketball / football cards on the left. If you look up you will see old toys still in the box, old nintendo games and a ceiling that has been through about 100 different leaks. An old Russian couple have owned this business for over 30 years, and they are one of the last sports card/comic stores that exist in Brooklyn. You can see hints of past glory, with all the old comics that 10 or 20 years ago were the hottest things around. Many of those formerly "hot" pieces of property can now be bought here for just a few bucks, but there are some gems here if you have time to search. Boxes are piled up and are in no particular order, so take some time and look through everything and you may find something rare that you never thought you would find that still has value. There's no posted price list - all the prices are coming from to the top of the woman's brain. She can tell you immediately how much she paid for that box of 1985 Topps Baseball cards! Bargaining is possible, but you won't get a big deal unless you buy in bulk, and it's cash only as of 1.1.13. If you are a collector looking to find buried treasure or if you just want to take a stroll down memory lane and back to your childhood, take a trip to Pinocchio on McDonald Ave and Avenue P, right under the F train. There are very few reasons most of you on here would find this place; it's the kind of shop that only locals know about, kinda take for granted and it's located in a neighborhood that hasn't been hipsterfied yet and that's what's so great about it. (weirdly enough Ave. I has started to attract some ironic-mustachioed types. I guess a 24 hr. shoprite will do in a pinch if there's no dive bar in sight). I'm a native NYC'er and these are the types of places I used to spend my tiny bits of cash on when I was kid. The place is stocked to the ceiling with all sorts of cool collectibles, from comics, baseball cards to classic video games and accessories (they have atari 2600 cartridges for petesake!). This is not a hipster-fied, ironic thrift shop that welcomes afternoon long browsing. Instead it's a dusty "garage" full of great finds run by two genuinely good people. You want some comics? Ok! You want some GBC cartridges? Here ya go! How much does that NES controller cost? I dunno 2 bucks maybe 4, depends on how much you buy! That's the general vibe of this store; it's a place where you buy things not hang out and gain foursquare badges. I love it! In an age where hipsters have turned everything, including taking a poop, into some crazy event that everyone online simply must know about, it's nice to find a genuine shop like Pinocchio's that just does what it does and provides some really great finds that'll make you feel like an 8 year old again. Literally a grandmom and grandpop shop with a VARIETY of LOTS of RARE CHEAP Comics. Nostalgic feel to the place.

This store is a treasure chest of comic books and nostalgia! Located right by the F line (by the Ave P station), you wouldn't immediately think this place is a comic book store. With a name like "Pinnochio Discounts" you'd probably think it's just another dollar store, but you'd be wrong. The door is locked and you have to knock to be buzzed in. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed (in a good way) by what I saw. STACKS of long boxes containg comics everywhere you look! They also have a bunch of old video game behind the counter. And if collecting cards is your thing, they have plenty of that as well! Now, here's the thing. The store is not very organized (at least not in any way I can ascertain). Like I said, there's boxes every which way you look, and most of them are hard to get to. Theres store is pretty cluttered and cramped, so if you're bothered by that sort of thing, maybe you should go elsewhere. you have to rely on the stores sole employee to help you out and fknd what you're looking for. If you're the kind of person who just wants to go to store and buy something, this place might not be for you. I however, enjoyed talking to the lady running the store anc found her very pleasent and helpful. I got two vintage comics for 10 bucks which was a pretty good deal. This might be the last of the classic baseball card/comic book stores left in Brooklyn. Growing up in the late 80's and 90's, there was literally one or two of these stores in every single neighborhood, but those days are long gone. Therefore, when you pay a visit to this store you will be taken directly back to the days of sports cards with the gum in them and original comic books, video games and toys. The layout is pretty much organized chaos with loose packs of sports cards dating back to the early 80's behind the counter along with video games spanning from original Sega to XBox 360 and Wii games. The only constant to the whole lay of the land is that the comic book boxes with the archives are placed floor to ceiling on the right side, while the newer comic books are laid out loose on the counter tops on the left along with the rest of the store's stock. Then, there are curios in the back loaded with Star Wars Burger King glasses, autographed hockey pucks, bobble heads, Salvino figurines, Christmas ornaments, entire set of the Muppets Show trading cards, etc. Additionally, there is an abbreviated section of current sports card packs from 2011, but it's mostly just the basic Topps, Chrome and Bowman versions of baseball, basketball and football. One step inside and you will notice that almost every spot in this place is packed with products. It's almost like walking into one of the houses of the people on Hoarders in regards to the sheer volume of objects The main draw here would definitely be the comic books as there are probably 100 plus large boxes packed with all the essentials (X-Men, Spiderman, Batman, etc.). It's really hard to estimate how many comic books are in stock. but trust me when I say it's A LOT. Plus the owner Alex is always hanging out in the back where I am fairly certain there must be at least some additional product tucked underneath a table or something. And I always notice that there are quite a few outgoing orders of brown bags packed with all the latest issues around whatever day of the week comic books are released. While I am not at all interested in comic books, I can say that this place will not disappoint any folks who are into it. The owners are an older Russian couple named Bella and Alex, and they also own the apartments located above the store. Because of this, it really doesn't cost them much overhead to keep the collectibles store opened at an age where other people might already be retired. The way I see it, they are better off collecting the rent upstairs and running the retail space downstairs according to their own terms as it also keeps them busy and happy to still be running a storefront business in an industry that has been thriving on the Internet since the mid 1990's. With that said, Bella routinely complains that baseball cards are "for the birds" and how Upper Deck won't even sell to her anymore because she can't order enough product. But the current selection of the main Topps products and the immense backlog of various unopened packs is reason enough to stop by if you're a sports card collector. I provide that background story, so you know what you're getting yourself into. They really don't make stores like this anymore and it's current, almost untouched condition provides a rare archive of American pop culture. You don't even have to be into collecting baseball cards or comics to enjoy this store. If you were a kid in the 80's or 90's, then this store is the real deal trip down memory lane. Plus it's a lot more exciting seeing this stuff in person, than on EBay. If you live anywhere in NYC near the F train, then definitely make plans to visit here soon. And if you drive, that's even easier, as there is usually ample metered parking on McDonald Avenue and Ave. P or free parking down the side streets. This place is Amazing! It's sort of like that warehouse in the raiders of the lost art warehouse, but for comics. It's best to go in there knowing what you're looking for or else you'll be lost in walls of books. They also have baseball and basketball cards. They have this sweet old little lady who works there by the name of Bella. She does all the business comic book wise. She'll also work you on the prices, and she's very fare in a stern way. They give free bags and boards with every comic. And if you're a regular with a pull list she'll give you a percentage discount. Places like this don't exist anymore. read more

This comic book/Trading Card store is probably one of the last of the original comic book stores in Brooklyn. Very very friendly mom-and-pop run store. They have thousands of back issues of some of the major Comic Book characters out there, as well as new issues. They have what I would assume to be well into the hundreds of thousands of trading cards, from basketball, baseball, football, etc. Stores like these aren't going to be around forever so visit them while you can read more

Not the best place to browse. Tight and cramped. Most of the good stuff is behind the counter which, you have to wait for the woman to (slowly) help you. One at a time. She complains if you're looking for key issues. Found some decent stuff but left super frustrated with the service and would of bought way more if it wasn't such a hassle.
