Don't Be Salty: Pinkbox Doughnuts was established in 2012 with multiple locations in the Las Vegas area. They are known for their wildly creative doughnuts, witty marketing approach, and crazy interior store features. They are also the official doughnut partner of the Las Vegas Raiders and Golden Knights. The official description of the Don't Be Salty doughnut from Pinkbox is "maple frosted raised shell with a hard white chocolate bottom filled with caramel cheesecake, topped with white whip, drizzled with caramel and sprinkled with sea salt". After taking my first bite, I was initially nonplussed as unlike many salted caramel desserts I've encountered, this was actually relatively salty! If salty isn't your thing, don't get scared off. The salt comes from the drizzle, so it's not in every bite and it is not overpowering. The maple flavoring of the icing is nice but gets somewhat lost with everything else going on (and those other things are phenomenal). The major welcomed distractions to the taste buds are the white chocolate bottom and cheesecake filling, both make this doughnut sui generis. In my opinion the caramel cheesecake filling is perfect, possibly the best filling I've ever had in a doughnut (and I've eaten my share). As for the white chocolate bottom, I've never seen that before and I've been to the revered Donut Bar in San Diego and Five Daughters Bakery in Nashville. When we first arrived, it was pretty overwhelming with the amount of items they had to offer. The employees were pretty helpful and patient with us. They made good suggestions and let us know which ones were best sellers. It's a little bit on the pricier side but they offer way more options than a normal donut shop. The donuts were sinfully sweet. My husband and son enjoyed it, but I definitely needed to wash mine down with coffee. We have used the Anthem Pinkbox store twice now for Club events. Our members clamor for their beautiful pastries, especially the apple fritters. They give a nice discount for large orders. I love the different themes they have for the various seasons, holiday's, and sports season. On this visit, I wanted to treat my son to a speciality donut for getting good grades at school, he couldn't decide which one he wanted so he kept going back and forth. The staff was so patient and understanding; they even offered suggestions to him. Ultimately, he decided on the Tutti Frutti doughnut. When we got in my truck he took a bite and instantly didn't like the taste. He was upset with himself that after all that deciding he chose the wrong donut. So I took him back inside and told the staff he didn't like it. They were really cool about it and offered him another choice of donut at no charge. He selected the Pot of Gold donut and loved it. My mom has been craving an old fashioned donut so we stopped here after our Trader Joe's run around 9 am on Saturday. The store was really clean and of course pink. We got a dozen donuts with a variety of different choices. We were the only ones there when we arrived which was great because since it was our first time all the choices were a little overwhelming. Most of the employees are not as nice as they could be, but the asian guy is friendly and super helpful. His suggestion on refrigerating my Sup Shorty donut (chef's kiss). We have given up on the drive thru. The idea is amazing bc who wants to get out of their car, but when donuts are sold out their is no way of knowing. My old high school is close by so I remember that this Pinkbox Doughnuts used to be a KFC back in the day (I graduated in 2013 so I'm never around this area anymore). The second you walk in, there is pink all over, hence the name Pinkbox. We got one doughnut each - I got the Gimme S'more doughnut and my boyfriend got the Strawberry Poptart doughnut. The Gimme S'more doughnut had everything you can expect on a s'mores treat - chocolate, graham cracker dust, and marshmallow crème inside. My boyfriend's Strawberry Poptart doughnut had strawberry/vanilla frosting, rainbow sprinkles, and strawberry frosting inside. And they were REALLY GOOD. I think we found our new favorite doughnut place! Service was friendly and quick. Pinkbox also offers seasonal doughnuts.
