Sesame chicken combo with shrimp fried rice
    Kelli T.

The first time I went to this restaurant, I ordered shrimp egg foo with two orders of shrimp fried rice, and they forgot part of my order. But I decided to give them another chance. This time I ordered the sesame chicken combo with shrimp fried rice and an egg roll, and it was Fresh, hot, delicious, and a lot of food. I'm glad I gave them a second chance because the staff was friendly, the food was ready in about 10 minutes and I really enjoyed my lunch break. I'd highly recommend this Chinese restaurant to sit down and dine and takeout. Note the rather large shrimp in the shrimp fried rice. It's a beautiful restaurant that's family run and you'd enjoy yourself dining there .

One Star (and that's being generous). I rarely write reviews this harsh, but this place deserves it. Walking into Ping On today was a mistake. It was 85° outside and sweltering inside -- no air conditioning running, making it feel like a sauna rather than a restaurant. My 13-year-old son wanted to order a smaller lunch-sized portion, something reasonable for his age. Instead, the waitress informed him that he'd be charged full price if he chose that option. That's ridiculous and shows zero customer consideration. The restaurant was absolutely dead -- not a single other table. That alone should've been a warning sign. On top of that, the waitress reminded us twice that they were closing up soon and "just doing carryout now." I even asked if they wanted us to leave. She said no, but the entire tone made us feel like an inconvenience rather than paying customers. There seems to be a serious cultural disconnect here when it comes to hospitality and customer service. Combine that with the oppressive heat, bizarre pricing policy, and the awkward pressure of being told they're basically closing -- it all explains why the place was empty. If you're thinking about dining here, don't. Save your money and your time. There are far better Chinese restaurants in the area that actually value their customers and create a welcoming atmosphere.

I took my Aunt here (see the photos), who was impressed by the portions of the meals, which were all quite large. The bean sprout egg rolls were really good, as was the ABC that my Aunt ordered. There was only one server, who seemed to also be putting carry out orders together, which is okay depending upon how busy you get. Since our server, who was super nice and had a warm smile, was indeed a bit busy, we tried to get the busser to help us a bit (more water, extra napkins, etc.), but she unfortunately could not understand us, so we were left waiting a few times for some things. Overall this place has really nice food (not great, but if I lived closer I'd likely come 1-2 times a month) and is worth a lunch or dinner, either solo or with others.

Definitely not what it used to be. Expensive and quality has gone down. It's been our go to for years but not anymore.

I'm still in the "wow, I can't believe it, we've found our restaurant for Cashew Chicken, wow, that…read morewas amaaaaaazing!" phase. That was mindblowingly delicious Cashew Chicken, and the eggroll that came with it, and the chicken fried rice, were right up there in amazingness. I can't find my words, in this satiated state of great food coma. The Egg roll was crispy, and the veggies inside were perfect, not strings that got in the teeth, but lightly cooked and seasoned beansprouts. The chicken fried rice had nice tender chunks of chicken, a beautiful dark soy sauce, and was perfect texture, and delish for what it wasn't as much as for what it is: It was lightly flavored and not too salty, not greasy, not clumped - each grain stood out. We could tell the star of the show was the Cashew Chicken as soon as we opened the lid. There it was: perfectly cooked broccoli, chicken, water chestnuts, mushrooms, and shaved carrot pieces in an addictive brown sauce that filled the kitchen with an irresistable aroma, just a perfect sauce really, were topped by well-browned cashews, and a lot of them. I haven't had Cashew Chicken this good since moving from California decades ago. I'll be back - maybe tomorrow. There are so many other dishes on the menu we want to order, but it will have to be "an order of cashew chicken AND....", won't it?

I was looking for a Chinese restaurant. I used YELP to help me find one. After looking at many…read morerestaurants, I saw and read that 1st Wok had good reviews so I decided to go there. Now, my first impression of 1st Wok was a hesitant one. It's not set in the best of plazas. There closed businesses that surrounded them. I didn't know if I should get out of the car but I did. When entering the establishment again I was hesitant. It's not the best looking restaurant. Definitely needed a paint job. There were 3 booths for dining in but they were taken up by supply boxes, one of their kids was watching their tablet and the other booth had a child sleeping in it. I hadn't planned on eating there anyway. There was a customer there waiting for their meal. I asked him if he came here often and he said yes with no hesitation. He said the food was good. Ok. The woman behind the counter was very nice. I asked questions about the food, especially the ABC, Almond Boneless Chicken, a specialty in Michigan Chinese restaurants and she answered every question with pleasure. I ordered the ABC combo which consisted of chicken fried rice, almond boneless chicken, a chicken/pork egg roll & chicken flavored gravy. The price was reasonable. When I got home and opened the foam container there was so much food I couldn't believe it. Definitely worth the price. Now, how does it taste. The egg roll was a little different. Crunchy on the outside with a different consistency on the inside but tasty. I've never had a chicken/pork egg roll before. It was bad. I had asked for plain fried rice instead of chicken fried rice and that's what I got. It was a mountain of rice, enough for 3 or 4 people!! WOW!! There had to have been a least 10 pieces of crispy chicken with green onion pieces on top. Again, enough for 3 people. The gravy, though different to me was very good on top of the chicken and rice. This was an excellent meal. I ate this combo dinner for 3 days in a row and every day I ate it was a treat. Tasted like day one. Overall..... The Almond Boneless Chicken (ABC) combo meal was really good and tasty, all 3 days!! Despite the dingy environment, I'm going back to try something else. Maybe beef pepper steak this time. Give 1st Wok a try. The ABC is really good!! Peace and Good Food
