Dr. Pineda recently did a tooth extraction on my daughter who was very nervous going in. Dr. Pineda was kind, patient, and very gentle. And when the the extraction proved to be trickier than originally thought, she kept at it making sure everything was done properly. Loved the reviews, so I made an appointment for an exam. She was very nice and gave me the bad news that I needed a lot of work. Then I spent months trying to schedule the followup appointment. I left multiple voicemails every other week, sometimes to a full voicemail. They never returned a call. Only once out of a dozen or so times did someone pick up, and they nervously said they'd need to check with the doctor and call me back. Guess what? They didn't. They got me very worried and then ditched me. Now I'm back to square one, sifting through dentist horror stories to find someone else with good reviews and staff that returns calls. read more

I can't believe I'm saying this...but I miss going to the dentist during these 'rona times. I mean, i don't miss the pain and discomfort but I know I gotta go through it so I have don't have a gross rotten mouth, and Dr Pineda is the best. I think dentists can be like car mechanics sometimes, there are plenty of honest & trustworthy ones but there are also vultures who tell you to get work done that isn't necessary. I used a Groupon for a cleaning when I first moved to LA and the dentist told me I needed 20k in work or basically my whole mouth would fall apart. I was like "hmmm I'm not in pain or self-conscious about anything, I'll hold off." I found Dr Pineda and now I have someone I trust (and to the surprise of no one, my mouth is still fine 15 years later, having not gotten the 20k in work done). I've never felt scammed or ripped off here. I've had cavities and root canals and all manner of things done, at reasonable prices, and an effort was made to give options. The facilities are clean & professional. I've been going here for 10+ years now. The staff across the board is excellent. I have been to this dentist only twice. First was for teeth cleaning, second for two cavities. One of the cavities she filled bled a great deal that night when I flossed. My gums were sore for about a week. When I was ready to leave, I asked if I could use her toilet. She said no and told me to go to Starbucks down the street. I let her know that you couldn't go into Starbucks because it was drive thru only. She said she didn't know. I barely made it home. I suggest you use Depends if you go here, just in case. I decided to go to another dentist who didn't take hmo insurance. I finally decided that I am willing to pay because of the poor quality of the hmo dentists in my insurance plan. The new dentist was great. She showed me all the small cavities that Pineda missed, among other issues. I'll pay out of pocket if that's what it takes to get proper dental treatment, even though I don't have a lot of money. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that I hate going to the dentist. I hate having my mouth open for an hour or two at a time while a stranger pokes around my teeth/gums. I hate lidocaine making my face numb for hours when I need a filling. I still don't enjoy going to the dentist, but Dr. Pineda is as good as you're gonna find anywhere. She's competent, friendly, and looks out for your best interest as a patient. She saved one of my teeth (and my wallet) from a root canal by trying out a filling first and it worked out. Dr. Pineda is an awesome dentist! Her staff is really on the ball and they cut the BS and service you as best they can. Waiting is nonexistent and they don't use any scare tactics to get you to do dental work you don't really need. Let me start off by saying i have seen every dentist in my life. I am plagued by some of the worse unlucky bad genealogy type teeth ever. 2 failed root canals, 1 failed implant, 5 total root canals, and over dozen cavities and I'm only 30 years old. Dr. Maritess is so professional, so blunt and honest. Her staff is great brenda is sweet and very easy going. At the front office (argh i forgot his name) always got back to me always took the time to talk about the best pricing, gave me great deals and is a very humble gentleman. I really like him. I think he does a great job running this office. it is a small office nicely tucked away off the street, but the staff and doctor here are great people and really take their time with the dental work you need. Dr.Maritess didn't rush anything she went over a fine tooth comb to make sure every little detail was done to my teeth. I couldn't be more proud to come here for my teeth. Thank you guys! read more

The staff on the spot followed up with my previous dentist and checked on when I last had x-rays and this helped allay my concern about getting too many. Just left. Great service! My husband had a dental emergency and our regular dentist was not available to see him. I used the "Find a Dentist" directory on my dental insurance company's website and found Dr. Pineda. I called and spoke with Michael who was very polite, professional and receptive to my request for an emergency appointment. I felt he genuinely wanted to help us and he was able to give my husband an immediate appointment. My husband went to his appointment and met Dr. Pineda, who helped him with his dental emergency. He said she did a great job, everyone was wonderful and he was very happy with the service he received. We are both so thankful they were able to accommodate us and help us today. read more

Rating based on customer service. I called and tried to schedule an appointment on the phone and the person was absolutely not helpful. Although listed as accepting new patients on my insurance's website he mumbled something about them not updating that. He then said the earliest appointment they had would likely be in April. I said okay I see that you have Saturday appointments and he went on a long and confusing ramble about how some patients they are seeing have already had Covid and how the dentist had been vaccinated. Not sure what that had to do with scheduling a Saturday appointment in April. So again I asked if there was anything available for a Saturday in April and again was not given a direct answer so I said, okay I guess I will find somewhere else, and his tone of voice changed as if he sounded excited and said "Okay yeah find somewhere else." It sounds to me like they aren't receiving new patients. read more

Dr. Maritess Pineda did all of my dental work from 2009 to present Its a small office 3 rooms. Usually only about 3 people working in the office including herself. Everyone is kind, helpful and inviting. Pristine clean, new looking and nicely decorated. She plays DVDs for you while you are getting dental work so you don't get nervous or bored. She is informative, answers questions and has a good sense of humor. I have had the following dental work here: 4-6 fillings 1 crown 2 veneers several cleanings while I had braces x-rays Bleaching I got referrals for the rest. Braces Root canal Wisdom teeth removal. My smile looks AMAZING! She is very patient. I had to send my 2nd veneer (1st was perfect) back to the 3rd party lab (not her fault) 4 times but we finally got the color it right. She custom mixed the cement for me to match my teeth when the lab couldn't get the color right. SHE NEVER PRESSURED ME TO DO COSMETIC WORK OR TRY TO UP-SELL ME ON SERVICES OR PRODUCTS AND I APPRECIATE THAT. While some dentists may try to scam you into getting treatments you don't need, she is very honest and direct about the treatments you need and your options. I have insurance and what I paid out of pocket seemed fair, although I was a student when I got a lot of these procedures done so it seemed pricey at the time. You get what you pay for and the service is well worth it. Don't be cheap get the white fillings! you will eventually want to get the silver ones removed anyway when they turn black and you finally make enough money to do so. read more

Dr. Maritess is the best!!! I switched over from Glendora Smiles because I moved and regretted it. They were charging us services we didn't even need and I have great insurance and it was coming out very pricey!!! I went back to Teeth and Gums and commute from Azusa to see Dr. Maritess and I am not leaving ever. She gives it to you straight, does not charge for extras (like a fancy toothbrush or 3D xrays), and always very friendly. She always asks about our family and treats us like good friends. I love the services they provide, you can watch a movie while getting your teeth cleaned!! That's the only way I get my husband in. Would highly recommend!! The only downside is the wait, but that's anywhere you would go that's great. read more

After a lifetime of terrible dentist experiences which include unnecessary root canals, infected teeth and surgery that could have been prevented, I was finally recommended by a friend to visit Dr. Pineda. It was the best decision I could have made. The staff is so friendly, caring and detail-oriented; they make you feel like family because they always ask about your life. They never try to convince you to buy products or do treatments you don't need. Dr. Pineda takes her time to explain all of the procedures and suggests what is more urgent and what can wait. Her anesthesia shots are virtually painless and she is meticulous about making sure your bite is perfect and you're comfortable. Dr. Pineda and her staff are consummate professionals. I first came to their clinic more than 5 years ago extremely anxious and terrified of dentists. Flash forward to our visit today, and Dr. Pineda tells me - a grown woman - that I'm much braver compared to my past visits. I can laugh about it now, but I genuinely think that it's because of how I've been treated at her office. Everybody is so thorough and helpful, you can't help but feel comfortable coming in - a rarity considering, you know, you can potentially have your teeth pulled out. PS. I think it also helps that movies play as your dental work is being done. For instance, today, Sean Connery's voice lulled me to relaxation while my teeth were cleaned. Sigh. read more

Booked an appointment for a regular check up and teeth cleaning. Sat in for an hour without getting the appointment I booked for. She recommended I come back for 3 different services. Which I said I will book, but asked if I could still get my regular teeth cleaning. She denies the service. Which doesn't make any sense because a regular teeth cleaning is a standard service that should be offered especially when the insurance provides for it. Don't go here and waste your time. read more
