It's a decent buffet, not many buffets left to be honest. Sunday buffet is better than any other- four stars Sunday- 3 stars Friday night. We just had the seafood buffet on Friday night. Mahi mahi is was really good- not overcooked. Cooked perfectly, flaky grilled and great all around. The roasted vegetables were good but had too much oil, they were more like baked veggies than roasted. Not bad tho, the other items really felt pre-prepared and processed like a lot of buffets. Has a great environment and location. Tons of potential if they stepped up the amount of fresh/homemade food on the buffet. Priced the way it is, the fresh/homemade deliverables should not be an issue. That would make the buffet amazing and that would compliment the location perfectly. I was very disappointed in the State Park restaurant on our last trip in March. They had a very limited menu, and nothing to accommodate people with food allergies. If we visit the park again will will pack in our own food. read more

A super spot for dining with a view. We were here for lunch but I've seen the sunset photos from other reviews and would like to come for dinner. We came from another part of the country and enjoyed tasting their fried catfish with hush puppies, coleslaw and fries. Very delicious! The ice tea was fresh and the staff took good care of us. We definitely have a love/hate relationship with this restaurant. Love the view; sometimes hate the food. This has been over about 15 years. Well we recently ate the Lunch buffet on a Saturday and I can vouch that it was the best food we have had there in a long time! Beef Ribs were juicy and tasty and the chicken well seasoned. This is the third time I have dined at this restaurant. Every time I have been disappointed but the last experience was the worst . There were two waitresses working the entire floor and were visibly overwhelmed. The busboy and manager tried to help but it was a shambles. When finally waited on I asked to see a wine list which I was told they did not have, the waitress said she would find out what was available and get back to us. She didn't. We then ordered, I ordered tilapia with two sides (baked potato and a vegetable medley. It came with soup or salad I choose the potato soup. My wife ordered fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and a salad with blue cheese dressing on the side. After waiting a long long time who I imagined was the manager came with our dinners. I complained that I had yet to receive our soup and salad. I told him these meals would be cold before I ate them. He offered to put them under the warming light but I said to leave them. He left and can only assume he yelled at the waitress because she shortly arrived with our soup and salad. Now to describe the meal, they had no blue cheese dressing and my wife substituted ranch dressing. The potato soup consisted of old (very old) baked potatoes in a flour based gravy. It was hot but not eatable. My meal consisted of an old old baked potato that missed the soup, the vegetable medley was half grilled zucchini only and the fish was over seasoned and over cooked. My wife was able to eat her meal but was only able to keep it down for an hour and then it came back up. I did not eat my meal. Finally the waitress brought our check and we expressed our unhappiness she said she would get her manager. I was throughly disgusted and went into the lobby. My wife came out about ten minutes later and said that the manager had never come. When she paid the bill at the register the waitress took ten percent off (a joke to me). The problem is this restaurant is in the Lodge at Guntersville State Park, with proper management and staffing it could be a destination for the entire area rather than a disappointment to guests at the lodge. I cannot imagine anyone coming here to solely eat a meal. I hope whomever is in charge of the Alabama State Parks is made aware of this and corrects the problem and makes it a showplace. read more

Thawed out just enough to dip it in ketchup masquerading as cocktail sauce it saved the meal. The prices are high for a buffet that resembles a high school lunchroom spread prepared by an angry lunch lady. If you like it fried, you'll like it here. Here for our yearly golf tournament. It's always a great experience. Yak Attack just so happens to be staying in the hotel this weekend as well, so the restaurant has been extra busy. The wait for food was long, but definitely worth it. Had the cheese curds, grilled shrimp quesadilla and shrimp and grits. Very delicious! But the highlight was the young man who served us. Chase was by himself and worked very very hard to make sure everyone was happy. During the hectic chaos he was calm and relaxed with a smile on his face. Was here yesterday evening after an afternoon of zip lining for my birthday. Wife ordered fried dill pickles appetizer. They were spears instead of the usual slices. Pretty good. She and I both ordered the Ribeye steak ($25.00) Really disappointed. They were maybe 1/2" thick and not very flavorful. Ordered them medium well. Mine was well done, her's about right. Waiter never did come ask how the meal was. I didn't expect it to be a Perry's or Ruth Chris but if you are going to do a ribeye do a thick cut at least. read more

We've had 2 meals in the Pinecrest Dining room this trip and both have been quite nice. The seafood buffet last night was pretty good and the breakfast buffet this morning was delicious. They also have a menu you can order off of if buffets aren't your thing. Also, everyone is so dang nice. We had Chris as our server last night and today and he was amazingly helpful and polite both times. Seafood buffet was horrible, it offered a small variety of previously frozen fried seafood. No crab or crab legs said it had been years since they had anything but fried. The dark brown biscuits looked like they were from yesterday . The Included salad was a wilted salad mix and dessert was what appeared to be a dry chocolate box cake. Probably the worst seafood buffet I have ever ate. Everything was fried to a crisp and was chewy. My kids waited forever for there food. I had to ask about there food before the waitress even checked on it. Very over priced for what was on the buffet. I wanted pie for dessert and there wasn't anything left on the dessert buffet except some baked apples. Very poorly staffed and managed. This is the restaurant that is part of Lake Guntersville State Park which is a major tourist attraction offering many amenities. The food is quite good but a bit pricey. The menu includes both buffets and menu items at different times. The wait staff is attentive and pleasant. The facility is located in the park's main lodge which was completely rebuilt 3 years ago. Stumbled upon this place, glad I did! It was Friday night and they were doing all you can eat crab, catfish, and crawfish. It seems their buffet list for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday changes a bit so check it out before you go. Wasn't quite sure where in the lodge the Pinecrest Dining Room was, but we found it down a flight of stairs and to the right. The windows are floor to ceiling and give great views of Lake Guntersville. I'm from the bay area in San Francisco and I'm used to waiting an hour or two to get into crab and fish buffets - but we had no trouble getting a seat here. It was fantastic. The park really deserves more business. Since it's about an hour away from Huntsville maybe people don't know about it? It's a great location and restaurant - I think more people would come if they were aware it was here. Really glad I stumbled upon it and will be back again my next trip to try the other things on the menu. read more

I'm a local to the area and have had the Friday night seafood buffet many many times. I love crab legs and that was the only thing on the buffet I enjoyed but me and my wife went on 7-27-18 and they have started serving Dungeness crab legs mixed with a few snow crab legs and the dungeness are horrible. When I expressed my opinion to the manager I was treated in a hateful manner and not offered any discount, so if your looking for a good seafood buffet I would look somewhere else.
