Usually I'll find SOMETHING at a Chinese buffet which is tasty enough to come back for seconds -- not at the Peking Chinese Restaurant. Everything offered was mediocre (at best), and for the most part, the food was very boring and flavorless. Didn't even bother to try the desserts, because they didn't look very appealing. I have a hard time understanding why Chinese Buffets in the Deep South are so lousy (for the most part). I guess I'll keep trying to find one that is decent, but I'm at the point of giving up and just thinking about trying different Bar-B-que joints instead.

Tonight it was dry, tough, and without much flavor. All the of our entrées proteins were the roast pork so everyone was disappointed. Like another reviewer stated, I have never eaten inside either, although they have a few tables in the small dining room. But for take-out, they are my go to Chinese choice! The egg rolls are good. They are plenty big, crunchy on the outside and and the insides are cooked but not mushy. The steamed dumplings are a favorite. I don't know what the sauce is - like a teriyaki meets bulgogi - but it's sooo good. The mee fun is also delicious. The food is always just right when I get it home to eat. Still hot, but cooled off a bit after the 5-7 minute drive. For the family, I get something like two dinner combos, sesame and sweet and sour chicken (each comes with rice and egg roll) and dumplings. That easily feeds myself and two teenage sons, often with leftovers and cost about $20. We eat it buffet style, each person getting some of each! The staff of this family run restaurant is very friendly. After a brief conversation, each order ends with them telling me "10 minutes." I don't know how they always get it prepared so quickly no matter what time or how busy it gets! Tonight I must have called right at closing but they took my order and had it ready and they were all waiting to go home when I arrived to pick it up - but still smiling and thanking me and wishing me a good night. I dined while writing this review, and after eating maybe 1/4 of the above mentioned order, I am stuffed! So do not hesitate to grab New China on one of those "working late and I don't want to cook" nights, or any time you're in the mood for Chinese! And no, they do not take a card, but do take checks if you don't have cash on hand.

I've noticed some people who are not happy with the buffet selection, although I'm perfectly fine with it for a few reasons. 1. The food has always been much hotter and fresher than any other dedicated buffet. 2. It's so much less expensive. You pay about $5-6 here, where other buffets charge $7.99, plus more on weekeends. That being said, I like them better for the fresh cooked food than the buffet. One meal inside gets you a lot, and can usually be shared between two people. The takeout is also excellent, and very generous portions. I listed some of my favorites above, but here are a few more. * Sesame Shrimp * Kung Pao chicken.

This doesn't surprise me seeing how dirty the eating area, tables, buffet and plates.... pretty much everywhere inside is disgusting. I cannot imagine how filthy the kitchen area must of been. And it would definitely explain how I hadn't been sick for well over a decade and I started eating there recently and shortly after I got the sickest I've ever been. It's quite unfortunate too because I like Chinese buffets but now I'll have to drive to Anniston if I want a good buffet. I'd definitely steer clear of this place, unless you dont mind getting sick, eating old food in unsanitary conditions.
