Like many of the people associated with this restaurant I am a native Hawaiian. I live in the Highland Village area and when I heard about this place with some local-style food was excited to take my family and especially my mother, also born and raised in Hawaii, over to Hurst (about 25 mins away). We were excited about the Saturday special which was laulau. My expectations have become tempered over a few decades living here in Texas and away from home. We thought the pricing was fair and also the menu was reminiscent of local food that I can remember. Enjoyed the Hawaiian-themed decor and the wall of spam cans. The laulau was ok. And I mean just that. A good meal but not great. I'm accustomed to a nice thick piece of pork fat and of course some fish in there. I realize that perhaps its not possible to make it perfectly the same so I will again say that while it was a good meal, I wasn't thrown back to the islands. The Lomi lomi salmon side dish that came with it was a bit salty for me, but this of course did remind me of home. My mother and father both loved it. My daughters, both of whom are mainland children tried the Chicken Katsu. Was good though a couple pieces were dry. They loved the sauces that came with it. A highlight was the guava cake....Ono delicious. I honestly don't recall that being a normal dessert from back home but believe me it was certainly worth grabbing out of the refrigerator. As was the cheesecake. We had ordered the spicy poke, but somehow it didn't get entered with the rest of the order. We did not get charged for it either so pretty much no harm no foul except a small nick on the service for that mistake. We understand mistakes happen. I was slightly disappointed with the spam musubi. Back home we used to have nice thick pieces of spam and this one you could hardly see the spam under the seaweed wrap. The sauce flavor was right on, but again the spam was so think you could only see rice and seaweed. I would think spam isn't so expensive they can't do bigger slabs of it on the musubi, but maybe these days with COVID it might be in short supply. My mother found out the guy that was there, his parents lived in Hawaii. I think she said that he lived there for a while too in Kapolei area, which we lived in the same area only it was called Makakilo back then. I think these all could have been just a bad day, perhaps some days are better than others. If I'm in the area I wouldn't mind stopping in again to try some of the other meals, but probably wouldn't make a special trip out there. My mother was in agreement and felt like it was ok but no need make special trip. read more

I had great customer service. This was my first time here. The menu has plates, bowls and burgers that you can pick from. Hawaiian menu. Space is clean. Busy during lunch time. I didn't want to eat much, I bought a bbq beef bowl. It was fine. The portion for a bowl I don't think is enough for a full grown man. The bowl is mostly rice, which is steamed white rice. The meat portion is good for a small child. My husband would probably need meat portions from at least 3 or 4 bowls. This is a Nice place to stop by if you are in the area. read more

Second time eating here, food is still pretty good, waitstaff is very friendly, attentive and over all professional. We ordered the teriyaki combo, chicken and beef, loco moco and fries with beef. All three were very delicious fries with beef were a great combo teriyaki chicken and beef combo was very tasteful and fulfilling loco moco with over easy eggs was pretty good macaroni salad was on the side, that was the only part of the meal that wasn't soo good with that said the only mac salad that's really good is L&L's mac salad. Hawaiian Bros, Shaka Hawaiian grill and Ana's Grill's mac salad don't compare to L&L. I will for sure recommend Pineapple Grill because the food is really good. read more

Spam Musubi? More like Spam MusuBAE! Boyfriend & I decided to try this place out on a whim & it did not disappoint! We ordered the Hawaiian Beef Plate, the Loco Moco, & a few Spam Musubis. Most of the entree's came with 2 sides - they offered things like Hawaiian macaroni salad, rice, fries, etc. My bf enjoyed his Hawaiian Beef plate because it delivered the same style flavors as Korean bulgogi, which he loves. I had the Loco Moco & omg, I went loco for that moco for sure! The gravy & the beef patty on this was HEAVENLY... especially the gravy - like I probably can drink the gravy all on its own! This is pretty much a huge plate of sloppy comfort hahaha (so huge that I only ate 1/3 of plate & had my bf eat the rest). We also both enjoyed the spam musibis. It had the right amount of sweetness from the rice & saltiness from the spam - yum! We tried Pineapple Grill Texas for the first time during the pandemic and were immediately impressed with the quality of their entrees! Since then, my husband and I have ordered here AT LEAST once a month. You literally can't go wrong with anything because I've tried something new every time - the chicken katsu, smoked pork kalua, Hawaiian bbq beef, hamburger steak with their delicious gravy, and oh my gosh, their macaroni salad. YUM YUM YUM YUM AND YUMMMMMM! Their service is always great and they ALWAYS greet you coming through the door and when you leave. Compared to Aloha Chicken and Ana's Island Grill, this place is so CLEAN and spotless! You could eat off the floor if you wanted to because it's so clean; they might not let you though. I've seen their cleaning standards when we went near closing time (sorry we came so late!) and they were really on it every time a table freed up. Nested in a shopping strip, this place might not look like much from the outside. Believe me, this menu is some of the best food I've had in awhile and it's well worth it. The teriyaki chicken bowl and kalua pork bowls were absolutely amazing. The bowl was more than I could eat in one sitting, and both were 100% worth it. The Loco Moco is massive, so be hungry, but on top of that the flavor was out of this world. I met up with some of my friend here. I didn't really know what to expect but it is a Hawaiian restaurant. I haven't really ventured out to try Hawaiian food but glad I did. I ordered Kalbi Plate- Angus Beef Short Ribs Marinated and Grilled. The short ribs were very flavorful and tender. They give you a generous amount of ribs. The rice was really good as well. Came here for lunch. Hidden in a bigger plaza so it can be missed easily. Clean interior with very Hawaiian-like decor. Menu was pretty straight forward. I ordered the Loco Moco (side story -- went to Hawaii and ordered this and pretty much a "tourist" meal, if you will, as indicated by a local). Nonetheless, still ordered it. Friends got the Katsu and a Mixed Plate. Did take a while to get our food, but I'm okay with this knowing it is being freshly made and not heated up. Our food came in styrofoam boxes and once it hit the table, we knew it was full of food. Lo and behold, a very generous portion. Delicious gravy. Mac salad had a nice twist to it. Burger patty was nicely seasoned. Washed it down with a Hawaiian Sun. My friend enjoyed the Katsu, but was looking for a different kind of sauce than what was provided. Drove 35 minutes to get to this restaurant. Since Hawaiian restaurants are few, my Ohana like to try each one that pops up. They are closed on Sundays, so Saturday was the only time we could make it. Located in strip mall in suburban area. Empty parking lot so I got front row parking. Score! They had Kapena playing when I got there so I knew it was legit. They had a daily special charsiu chicken $9.95 written on the chalkboard. They had a one page menu for local favorites. Their fridge was out so they had the available drinks displayed including Hawaiian Sun, sodas, and bottle water to choose from. The cashier brought out cold ones from the back. Musubi- 5* we ordered 4 to eat with meal and 5 to go. They had rice, furikake, spam, and nori. Chicken charsiu-4* you can taste the charcoal flavor. My son liked it. It wasn't as charsiu flavored as I would like it. Still really good though. Definitely try it when available. Fried noodles-5* I was so happy until I found out they were out of charsiu pork. They said able to sub with teri beef which I should have just to try it. They were so sweet to sub with charsiu chicken though only because they had available. Any other time no. Great noodles that my daughter ate the rest even though she didn't want to share with me originally. Chicken katsu - 5* my son loved his meal and they offer mac salad or toss salad which is nice. Overall, friendly service, clean restaurant, and they make local food. Definitely check this place out! I've been here several times and each visit is consistently good; I know just what to expect and the delivery is always on point. During our first visit, my husband and I ordered the katsu chicken, loco moco, and the garlic fried chicken wings. The loco moco was delicious and I could tell that good quality beef was used for the patty. The gravy was pretty typically average but was still delicious (hard to mess up brown gravy!). The katsu chicken left more to be desired however- it was very average and I had hoped for the dipping sauce to save it, however, the sauce was also just average and resembled your typical cocktail sauce. If you want chicken here, the garlic fried chicken wings is the way to go. These wings are fried to a perfect golden crispiness and jam packed with SO much flavor. If you love garlic, these are the wings for you. They remind me a lot of Korean fried chicken wings. During our second visit and basically every visit after that, we ordered the combo plate (your choice of 2 meats) with Kalua pork and teriyaki beef. So delicious! The pork is always very juicy and tender, no dryness whatsoever. It has a nice smoky flavor, mainly savory with a very small hint of sweetness. It comes with a bbq dipping sauce which is not needed at all. The teriyaki beef is their version of Korean galbi without the bone. That's exactly how I would explain the flavor. Once again, it is always perfectly grilled to tender and juicy perfection. They really know how to do meat right here! The plates here all come with your typical rice and mac salad. The mac salad is similar to all of the other places that we have tried. Although it is average and typical, it is well executed. By our 4th visit, we were finally able to try the poke! We saw it the first time we came in but were not craving poke at the time so we did not order it. For the next two visits, they were sold out each time we came. I absolutely understand why! It is SO delightful! The ahi tasted very fresh and tender. For $8 per portion, the price is just right. Overall, this restaurant is solid. It's cheaper and good and this place does it right and even better in some things. Speaking of the better than they do the marconi salad better. The garlic fried chicken wings are ridiculous! During my first visit, the wife and I ordered the Loco Moco and a Chicken Katsu Plate. The loco moco was OK. The gravy could've been more flavorful, but the beef patty was solid. You can tell they use quality beef. It was very juicy and tender. The chicken katsu was also perfectly cooked. Very crispy and juicy, but it lacked flavor to me. The katsu sauce tasted like cocktail sauce/ketchup. It didn't leave an impression on me. We also ordered the Garlic Chicken Wings. It was super crispy, juicy, and jam packed with that amazing garlicky/sweet flavor. I could've eaten 20 of these. During our second visit, we tried two different dishes. We ordered the mixed plate that comes with Kalua Pork and Teriyaki Beef. The pork is very flavorful, juicy, tender, and will leave you wanting more. The teriyaki beef had a nice sweetness to it, but not too overpowering. It was well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and had that nice char on it! You also get a side of steamed white rice and macaroni salad that just brings everything together. They were advertising a stir fried noodle dish that we decided to try, but probably won't order again. It had nice flavor, but it was super dry and wasn't anything special. Aloha happiness!! Honestly this place is the kind of Hawaiian food you will CRAVE. Poke, garlic wings, teriyaki chicken, beef with green onions and all of the spices, rice, mac salad (the best I've ever had- it made me change my mind about how I felt about mac salad in general). Pickled cucumbers!! I could eat a big bowl of that alone. All of it is served up fresh and delicious. I ordered to go and could not stop eating in my car on the way back to work. Good gracious I have been missing out. They are adding things to the menu all of the time and often have specials. Word is getting out too. There is ample seating inside and the people in there do give you the feels like you are on the islands. Linn practically dragged us to this restaurant, a new brick-and-mortar establishment from a former food truck. I love hawaiian food, and Pineapple grill may have some of the best hawaiian food in DFW! Meredith and I split two orders, since we love to sample each others' food. The mixed plated with smoked pork and teriyaki chicken, and the garlic shrimp plate were on the menu for tonight. The teriyaki chicken was incredibly succulent and savory, with a very light hint of sweetness...this is a masterful difference from typical teriyaki, which is oversauced and too sweet. The garlic shrimp were plump, fresh and plentiful, with a deep buttery garlic taste. The rice was a great acoompaniment, as was the salad and macaroni salad. Unfortunately, the only thing I didn't like all that much was the smoked pork, but that was because I usually don't like pulled meats in general. I love it! Usually, I ignore the "hot and new" notifications because they tend to be too far away, like in Arlington, deep fort worth or Dallas; so i was pleased to see a place near me. Also, genuine Hawaiian food. I have never had a Hawaiian meal before. They say good food brings a out good memories. This place does. Although not my own, I recall pictures and home videos of my parents' wedding in hawaii. To this day I would love to visit, so it is wonderful to see a bit of Hawaii here. Now, they can be a bit difficult to find if you don't know exactly where they're at, or driving at night. They have a sign which doesn't light up and is small, so it's overwhelmed by Volcanoes, which is to their left. I love the plasticware and to-go box they seeve the food in, it's environmental and reduces dishrs. I will say, having the kalua plate, the meat wasn't very warm or hot, but it was certainly tasty. This was recommended to me when I discussed never having Hawaiian before. Evidently this wouls be served at a luau The staff is friendly and they bring the food out relatively fast, which is perfect for either a quick bite or a long meal. The inside is very clean and simple, they don't overdo it with visual stimulation on the walls, but it's lovely. They don't look like much outside, but the inside is a place of calm and relaxation for me. Also the spam musubi is a wonderful treat. It is sweet and each bite leaves me wanting more.
