Along with big open fields of grass !!! Came here for a baby's birthday party and was pleased with the birthday area! There was shade and great seating , looked clean as well. There seemed to be park staff checking in as well. One complaint from the host of the party is that when she arrived to set up, there was a Couple parked in plain sight next to her in the lot, doing the nasty nasty. Yes , you read that right. On a Sunday afternoon (12pm) .... She was disgusted and looked for help but didn't see staff/ anyone nearby . She got out of her car to make her presence be known.... You would think that couple would care and leave ... no MAAM no sir, they finished their business first and then finally left! No tint and didn't care..... Thankfully no children or families were around to see that crap. It's a nice park , nice area but always look twice and don't let your children outta your sight!

Our families is the playground area and the splash pad which is open during the summer is great for bringing the little kids. For older kids there is the skate park. For adults and everyone else there is tennis, pickleball and a jogging track that goes around the area of the soccer fields. For youth sports there is availability of fields for soccer baseball softball and flag football. It's probably some sports I'm forgetting but needless to say this is a great resource for the greater community.

The park is adjacent to a school, and the park also has a "Friendly Center". What this is, I have no idea. I guess its a center where everyone is friendly? Sounds fantastic if you ask me. If you don't ask me, then tough crap. I live not too far from this park and I could see myself taking Lucy over there to play ball with her, let her run around, pee on the grass. What a delightful new park in the community! Crawford Canyon Park is located at the corner of…read moreCrawford Canyon and Newport Ave. it has a little bit of everything. I stopped here to check it out around lunchtime. There are 2 inventive playgrounds that offer unique play structures and large sculptures for kids to climb and explore! There is a small treehouse with an attached slide that looks appropriate for the toddler/preschool age group. There is a big net climbing structure for older kids ages 6-12 I think. Limited swing options: 2 swings, 1 normal and one large netted disk swing. There is a large field and open play area perfect for running around, playing catch, soccer, or a picnic. Towards the back, near the open grass area are 2-3 picnic tables. There is currently not much shade but it looks like there are plenty of pine trees planted around the park and those should provide future shade! There is a lovely walking path along the perimeter of the park, perfect for a stroll or walking a dog. ( I did not see dog potty bags when I was there but I didn't look very hard. One thing that stands out at this park are all the charming wildflowers that line the paths and in between the common areas. Fun for photos and right now, it makes for a beautiful backdrop to the park.

This park does not entertain either of them for very long. The play equipment might be "aesthetic" but it is boring and not challenging. I had send numerous references from nearby parks: Bent Tree, Pioneer, Peppertree. And we got a sad little HOT metal slide, tiny treehouse, and some climbing features. The firewood thing is just dangerous. There isn't even a bucket swing for toddlers, just a net saucer that a toddler doesn't feel comfortable on. And shade--there is none. There were mature pepper trees on site but they took them all out. It is unbearable to be out there with littles for the better part of the year. Could we not have installed some shade sails? Next, safety. They didn't plan for a fence along Newport, which is like a highway, and the sidewalk slopes down, so if a little kid is on a bike and goes off track they would go crashing straight into oncoming traffic. There are concrete walls there for now but this can't be the permanent solution as it's an eyesore for our community. OC Parks, please budget for some major improvements for this sad and unsafe park.
