This is the haddock filet (broiled) with a baked potato. Cocktail of choice was Titos and soda with lemon whish was also good.

This is the 3rd time coming to this place. The food is good and the staff is friendly. Definitely a place to come to when you're in the area. The band playing last night reminded me of Chris Stapleton. We stayed for a little while after dinner to listen to them. Menu is small but great options to choose from. There were 3 of us and we had a burger, fish sandwich and an Italian sausage and pepper sandwich. Delicious! Their fries and onion rings with homemade ranch on the side are delicious. Will definitely be back!

Beet & goat cheese salad. Delicious!

I've been wanting to stop in here for a while. There are a lot of mixed reviews for Pub' n Prime…read morewhich made it hard for me to figure out if I should give it a try. Pub' n Prime is pretty old school looking. I love the mid-century modern looking decor that meets northwoods. There is a cool outside tiki bar that we didn't take advantage of but it was going strong out there. My party sat at the bar for a drink. Cheese spread and crackers on the bar. Very nice. Standard Wisconsin drinks including ice cream drinks are available as well as tropical "slushy" drinks. The staff was great! Super friendly. We had curds and onion strings for appetizers. There were enough for the 5 of us. Our server, Mary was helpful with the menu and we ordered Broasted Chicken...1/2 a chicken. Very moist. Light crunchy breading. Ribs. Nice big slab of fall off (with a nudge) the bone. Nice sweet sauce. Orange Whisky Chicken. A boneless breast grilled and served in a sweet orange sauce. Shrimp. Fried. Pretty basic but good. Prim Rib. It was reported to be a bit salty but it looked good. The sides of asparagus could have been a bit bigger but they were prepared well and tasted good. One of the nicest things is the salad bar of which one trip is included with each entree. Two soups, bread, rolls, green salad mix with all the extras, pasta salad, bean salad, nice choice of dressings. It's great to have salad bars making a comeback. We ordered one piece of homemade Carrot Cake for dessert and it was fabulous! And on top of being a very clean restaurant the bathrooms were also very nice! Pub' n Prime is worth a try. We will bring the family back.

The only good part of our visit then was our waitress and the food. Due to weather we ended up here tonight. The bartender was the best part of our night. Lynn was fantastic. Friendly. Professional. We discovered she had also been our waitress five years ago too. Now to the food today. The worst prawns I have ever had. Over done, dry and tough not to mention so small. They offered to substitute a small prime rib for the prawns because it could be ready faster. A bit dry but edible.

Forestry Tap and Axe is an absolute must-visit if you're anywhere near Minocqua. This place nails…read morethe full experience--great beer, great food, outstanding service, and a genuinely fun atmosphere. The beer selection is solid across the board--everything I tried was fresh, flavorful, and clearly well-crafted. It's the kind of place where you actually enjoy finishing your pint and immediately want to try another. The food was just as impressive--far better than you'd expect from a spot like this. Everything came out hot, well-prepared, and packed with flavor. What really sets this place apart, though, is the service. The staff is top-notch--friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaged. You never feel like just another customer; they make sure you're having a great time from start to finish. And then there's the axe throwing--honestly one of the most fun parts of the whole visit. Whether you've done it before or not, it's easy to get into and adds a unique, memorable twist to the experience. It turns a simple stop for food and drinks into something you'll actually talk about afterward. Having been to Minocqua Brewing Company, the difference couldn't be more obvious. Forestry Tap and Axe delivers quality, consistency, and hospitality across the board, while Minocqua Brewing falls short in every category. Bottom line: if you're in the Minocqua area, don't waste your time elsewhere. Head straight to Forestry Tap and Axe--you'll get great beer, great food, excellent service, and a genuinely fun experience all in one place.

What really stands out here are the games, including axe throwing, shuffle board, Hammerschlagen (a nail pounding game), darts, pool, ping pong, cribbage, and probably something else that I didn't see. Their shuffle board table is one of the best I've ever played on -- full sized, smooth and fast. It may take a few tries to get the hang of it, but once you get zeroed in it makes for a great game. And, of course, as their name implies, the featured activity is axe throwing. Tossing a dangerous tool, trying to stick it in a wooden wall, and hitting the target for maximum points is harder than it looks. But once you get the technique mastered (even partially) it is incredibly satisfying and a lot of fun. Three stars for the bar, five four the games, four overall.

The Timbers Bar & Grill - Fish Fry

I've been frequenting Timbers every Friday for their fish fry for the last 8+ years or so. To me,…read morethey have the best fish fry in the north woods by far, and it proves that you don't have to go to a fancy supper club to get good eats. The ambiance is a typical north woods bar, you can either eat at the bar or sit at one of the tables in their 'dining room' which houses the slot machines, dart board, and a few other games for kids. They have a wide selection of brews on tap, and have a full bar. The thing that I really love about this place is that everyone who works here is extremely nice. You can tell they love what they do, they're proud of where they live, and they have great senses of humor. Just overall great conversationalists. Now to the food, my favorite part: For appetizers, you HAVE to try their jalapeño poppers. They're the best poppers I've ever had. I believe they are coated in potato breading and they have an awesome zing to them. Never had a popper like it and I'll always compare others to the ones at Timbers. For lunch/dinner, their hamburgers are incredible as well. Super juicy smash burgers on a fluffy bun with the best French fries in the world. A perfect pick me up during snowmobile season or on a nice summer day. On Friday, this is THE spot for fish fry. My family and I have tried so many fish fry places over the year trying to find our favorite, and each time we stray we always leave disappointed wishing we would've just got Timbers instead. To me, what makes their fish fry so great is their portions are extremely generous, you get 4 pieces of fish, a handful of fries, two slices of buttered rye bread, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge. The way their fish is prepared and battered is my favorite. It doesn't have that super thick, almost pancake batter like breading that tastes like a corn dog. Instead it's very lightly breaded so that it's fish forward with a nice crunch. This is just my preference, but to me, it's the best fish fry I've ever had. I genuinely love this place so much, but I must say that it's obviously super crowded and loud during the tourist seasons. If that bothers you, you can always call in a takeout order so don't like that deter you from checking this place out!
