Located on the corner / junction of Hwy. 95 and 47, about exactly half way between Princeton and Cambridge is this fantastic place called the Pine Brook Inn. It is a great place to stop if your in the area. Anything you order here is fantastic. This place has been here for years dishing up some of the best food in the area. The menu consists of everything from burgers and sandwiches to steaks and prime rib. They also cook your meat to order, if you want it med. rare, you get it med. rare. I've been coming here since I was a child and not much has changed. Good food, great service and a nice relaxing atmosphere combined with really decent prices make this an excellent pit stop on your way up north! read more

I go to the Pine Brook Inn once a year with my husband's family, on Memorial Day weekend when we decorate all the family gravestones in the area. We keep coming back because it's a tradition, but also because we don't want to go anywhere else. Pine Brook is just that good. They've got the standard country bar & grill fare: apps, sandwiches, burgers, larger dinners if you're really hungry. I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered. Today I had the Reuben; their version uses sour cream instead of Thousand Island dressing. I didn't miss it at all. My husband had the Pine Brook burger, which is a double-decker burger that's also piled with corned beef, ham, bacon, and two kinds of cheese. Carnivore heaven. Oh, and the service is fantastic. Our server today was covering the whole back part of the restaurant, but she was still quick, didn't forget about us, and even stopped to chat a few times. She said she'd been working fourteen days straight, but she had a great attitude and was very friendly. If you're really lucky, you'll go to Pine Brook on a day after they've made a lot of baked potatoes. They take the old potatoes and slice them, fry them, and season them for the best steak fries you've ever had. Seriously. My mother-in-law starts talking about the fries about a week before we go out there. The portions are quite generous, so you'll probably be unbuttoning your jeans and letting out a labored groan when the server comes around to ask you about dessert. But seriously, you really shouldn't skip it. They've got at least ten different kinds of pie, plus cheesecake and carrot cake. The banana cream is a dream. Do it. read more

Came here for lunch with my family. They were surprisingly busy. The waitress was extremely friendly and personable. We got an appetizer of onion rings that were very good, but not sure if it was almost $9 worth. I would probably just get them as a side as you would probably get the same amount. I ordered a cup of the French Onion Soup which was tasty. All the burgers we ordered were very good. My Patty Melt with Sweet Potato Fries definitely hit the spot. My family liked the two pieces of pie that we ordered, but they didn't really do it for me. Overall, it was a good place to each and grab a beer if that is your thing. read more

Pine Brook Inn is an interesting restaurant located in what was originally a rural schoolhouse (heavily added-on/modified) a ways out from Cambridge and a perfect spot to stop by on a lazy drive or road trip. As such I was heading on a little research expedition with a friend through Isanti and Stearns counties and was happy to read about this place and give it a try. It's pretty good. For the record, 3* from me is not a "I hate it", I just don't make the wild swings from 1 or 5 that some folks like to do. The dining room is slightly rustic with plenty of inviting tables and booths. I took a spot at the sole booth at what was probably the original entrance to the schoolhouse. The service is friendly, outgoing and authentic. The menu covers a lot comfort food basics. We started with an appetizer: Cowboy Caviar, which was basically a nacho platter with a cream cheese and cheddar cheese dip. It was satisfying and a good dish to share. My friend got the day's special: an open-faced prime rib sandwich served philly-style. He enjoyed it. I got the Pine Brook Burger: a double decker beast that mixed a variety of meats and cheeses along with two patties. It was good, but nothing beyond a lot of different things piled onto a burger patty that--by itself--wasn't particularly notable. I got it with tater tots that were similarly serviceable but otherwise forgettable. On the scale of hamburgers I've had this fit square into the middle, and if I go back I'll probably try something different. With that said, I like supporting local places and the service and enthusiasm of the staff, the large portions and the good (even if not great) food makes it worth your patronage if you're in the area. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Called on June 15, 2019, in advance for a reservation because we needed a place to eat after burying my 12 year old nephew, who died of cancer that day (yes you read that correctly). Talked to the owner to let her know the situation, I told her I was unsure of how many people would be there. I said 15 to 17, she said, we will plan for 17 just in case. She assured us that she was able to accommodate us. There were a lot of unknowns and we had to act fast because my brother was doing a green burial for his child. This is one of the few restaurants near the burial site. I ended up having to call a couple of hours ahead and push the reservation back by one hour. We got there on time, 7:30 p.m. sharp. We were all very sad, and very very hungry. Not everyone came to eat so we arrived with 13 people. I immediately realized that they were putting us last for everything. They took the drink orders of the the tables around us first. Same with food. Also, they had two servers for our table. TWO servers for 13 people. Unfortunately, they were all out of the prime rib. It took 90 minutes before our food came. 90 MINUTES BEFORE THE FOOD CAME OUT. There were several tables around us who came after us, got their food, their bill, and LEFT before our food even came out. When the food finally came, it was OVERCOOKED and gross. My fish was almost inedible and I could only eat half of it. Many others at my table had similar problems with the food. Now here is the KICKER. We were very upset about being treated the way we were, especially under the circumstances. So, we asked to speak to the manager. The owner, who I spoke to earlier, came out to talk to us. Not only was she completely unsympathetic, she actually BLAMED US. She explained that we came with fewer people than originally stated, so that was the cause for delay (I still can't figure out how she came up with that one). She also mentioned that she felt bad for us and was trying to help us out and that is why she told us she could seat us in the first place. Basically, it was our fault for needing a place to eat after burying a 12 year old child, and she was doing us a huge favor by allowing us to eat in her restaurant after experiencing a tragedy. She also blamed the fact that we changed the reservation time. Normally, I would understand that one. But we changed the time from earlier, dinner rush time - 6:30 p.m. - to LATER 7:30 p.m. Finally, she guilted us again about the fact that she initially blocked off more tables than we needed, even though we got there at 7:30 sharp and all of those tables were filled shortly after we sat down - many of them were long gone before we even got our food. Needless to say, she did absolutely nothing to compensate for our crappy experience. They even charged us 50 cents for a tiny cup of ranch dressing. So in sum, not only is the service at this place awful, the food is disgusting, and the owner has zero compassion or kindness. When you see this place, keep driving. There are plenty of restaurants in Cambridge, and considering the wait you will likely experience here, you probably won't even lose time. read more

We went there for Mother's Day. The Bloody Mary's are delicious with the fixings. Very friendly staff and regulars. Service was excellent except I ordered the Prime Rib med. rare. It came medium no pink. Not much flavor and a bit dry. The horseradish was majorly lacking horseradish. Not even the slightest bit of a bite to it. Loaded baked potato was awesome ! A ton of cheese & bacon. The homemade ranch dressing on the house salad is delicious. We will definitley return but will try the burgers, pasta or French dip next time. Pretty poor experience overall. Host said hello and started walking away, only to turn around after about 8 paces and say, "oh, you should follow me." The decor and tableware was low quality and certainly not aligned with the prices of the food. We both got steak. Wifey got the special - ribeye, medium. I ordered the sirloin, medium. Mine came with just a hint of pink (well done in other words) and wifey's came completely pink (more medium rare). Sides were without flavor. Dessert, cheesecake, had no flavor and tasted as if it had been sitting for three days. Ended up paying $47 and only had waters. Not sure if the standards are lower in the rural areas, but I could have paid the same amount at a decent restaurant in the cities and been very pleased. Instead, I won't be back. read more

This is a place where you will share the parking lot with vehicles other than cars. I've even seen horses tied up outside. Food is always good and service always friendly. Broasted Chicken to die for, signature burgers big enough to be an eating challenge but worth every messy bite, club sandwiches and specials are wonderful. We are there at least once every two weeks and we are never disappointed. It is worth the 10 mile detour if you are near Princeton or Cambridge. Family comes to visit more often (You decide if that is a good thing) because we take them to the Pine Brook. read more

This a great restaurant with a rustic backwoods ambience. The service is great and the food selection is great. I highly recommend the ribs but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. You should definitely go to this restaurant if you are in the area for either lunch or dinner. read more

Had passed this place many times over the years and finally stopped in to check it out. I ordered the Black & Blue burger and my wife had the Mushroom Swiss burger. We both had fries with our meal and all was delicious. After expressing our satisfaction to the waitress, she told us about their Prime Rib meal on Saturdays. As usual the food was very good and reasonably priced, and we love the atmosphere. My cousin and I do lunch at Pine Brook on a regular basis ... usually on a Monday. Our waitress was very friendly, always smiling and helpful ... but very busy taking care of several tables for a larger than usual Monday lunch. My only suggestion is to have a backup waitress available in order to make the experience even more enjoyable. read more

We love this place! They serve good burgers, and roasts! The chef specials are always a treat. As semi-regular patrons, we are welcomed as warmly as the first time we walked in. The atmosphere is upbeat, and if you are in east central Minnesota looking for something with the quality you'd expect from a place located on an upscale golf course, Pine Brook Inn won't let you down! Poor experience again. Waited an hour to sit at a tippy table. I ordered the Big Bamboo, A huge burger. I ordered the Burger Med rare because if you do not you end up with a Hockey puck. I even stated it twice. DO NOT Overcook my 15.00 burger. waited another hour and was served a 15.00 hockey puck. This is not the first time this has happened, but it will be my last. Even if it was medium I can take it , but it was charred. I am tired of wasting my time and money on this place. Stopped by here this morning on the way home from the cabin. It was 11am and I guess that is when they open. We were the first customers there. Looked at the menu. Burgers are $10 and only come with "home made" potato chips...which were not very good. If you want fries, it's $1 more. We ordered Swiss Mushroom burgers and Hubby ordered the fries. By now, two other couples had come in. One couple sat at the bar. They received their burgers long before we did. They sounded like they knew the female bartender, so I guess it's who you know rather than who was there first. The burgers were fine, but at $10 for just a burger, I was expecting something fabulous. These were just average burgers. Not bad, but not anything to write home about. The $1 extra french fries were just OK and not a very big order of them, as most restaurants give you. I've actually had better fries at McDonald's. We had water to drink so it was $21 for two average burgers and a small order of bland tasting fries. We will not be back and we pass by here every Sunday morning/afternoon. We always stop somewhere on the way home for breakfast or lunch. This will not be one of them. read more

Pine Brook is amazing! They have excellent food and great service. Used to go there with my family and the last time I went was on a first date (my ex now :(). We shared the chicken Alfredo which is awesome. The burgers are amazing. Their specialty burger has 2 fat beef Patties, corn beef, and I think one other meat on it. I am making myself crave one of those burgers and I haven't stopped in there for a while so I think I will tomorrow just for that burger! Good thing I live close., I'd recommend this place to anyone wether it's after church for breakfast, lunch, first date, family get together. I normally don't write reviews but feel a need to vent our last experience. My boyfriend and I were having a great time laughing, a few drinks and food, our bartender was great as she always was. We visited on occasion for years. With that being said, we knew what our experience would be. --Then shift change happened. The next bartender was rude. Infact should probably consided a new career. We had money on the bar, we weren't asked if we needed anything. We put our money away and asked for our bill. We had put out a gift card to use but didn't recieve a bill. She grabbed the card and came back with an amount that we still owed. I am pretty sure the proper procedure is bill first then paymentSo I asked for one --- She goes to the register - looks at the bartender and says NOW THEY WANT A RECEIPT### -- we will not be back when she is there.
