Wow. I am from California and we have some of the best food around. I always worry when traveling, especially to small towns about the food, but we decided to take a chance on Crystal Bar and Grill. I wasn't expecting much - just normal, small town, diner-like food. Well, DAMN I was surprised. I customized a burger (quality meat and flavors) and my husband had a chicken sandwich. We both were impressed - esp with the berry dipping sauce that had a bit of a KICK to it. Great great place. Fantastic service. If we make it back to Mora, we'll be back! read more

If you're up north in Mora, this little bar is a must! My family has been numerous times and it never disappoints! The crispy chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries is my typical go to here or the chicken tenders because sometimes I still think I'm 12. They make their own "Crystal Sauce" that is to die for. I would literally eat it straight out of the jar if they would let me. Now for the best part... we went during HH and I ordered a tequila water (Don't knock it till you try it!!!!!!) but it was literally $1.75!! Like what?! And they did not skimp on the alcohol! When I come up to visit my mom; this is a place we like to go to after church in Sundays because it's the only place in town that serves eggs Benedict. My mom loves her eggs Benedict and loves these. I am more of a hash-browns and bacon kind of gal and love how they make their hash-browns extra crispy. I have also tried the omelets in the past and love that they are very generous in the ingredients that they include inside them......the #3 is my favorite.....so many mushrooms, so much bacon and cheese. We've also been there for lunch and the Crystal burger is my favorite. You don't find many places that offer green olives as a burger topping! read more

The worst. Moved to Mora a couple of months ago and have always been disappointed by their food and service. The icing on the cake (pun intended) was stopping in for a birthday drink. My date (a local) used the restroom while I found a semi not nasty bar stool. Bartender (Tara) asked to see my ID. YAY! Glances at it, albeit no champagne so I ask for a Twisted Tea. Another patron inquires about me and my nonstandard request. So I mention that it's my birthday and the bartender didn't even notice whilst checking my ID. Bartentender (Tara) comes back and askes if their is a problem. I giggle a little. Her entire mood changed when my date sat next to me and said, "well if I had known you two were together blah blah blah". Do not set foot in this place if you want reasonable service and are not a local. Stopped in on our way to the lake. We hit Mexican night. My companions did Taco Salads and really enjoyed them. I tried the Crystal burger and fries and it was wonderful, juicy and big. Prices super reasonable. They even had $4 margaritas. Definitely would return. read more

On a Sunday morning I was looking for a place for breakfast and also a Bloody Mary. Found this place on Yelp and almost passed because of the reviews about the terrible service, but decided to give it a shot. I was cheerfully greeted when I walked in and told I could sit anywhere I wanted, and asked what I wanted to drink. By the time I sat down she was already back with a cup of coffee and a menu. She came back quickly and took my order, and my food arrived quickly. The breakfast was very good, though I thought the portions were a little small by my standard. Also, the Bloody Mary was really disappointing and totally bland. I would come back again though because the breakfast really was very good and the service was great. read more

Just moved to MN and living near Mora. I love supporting local businesses & stopped by the Crystal Bar for lunch one day, my burger was delicious! The salad bar looked wonderful too & my friend enjoyed her meal from that. The waffle fries are pretty comparable to Chickfila, just had to add more salt for myself. The burger & fries were reasonably priced, pretty affordable, & tasted just right. Waitress was nice and attentive! Will definitely come back! read more

Anyway, what I said was since the new owners I visited Crystal Bar and Grill and waited and waited and waited for a drink and menu while the bartenders were busy selling pull tabs and chatting to there regulars. The new owner came over and just asked something's wrong. I told him yes and told him why and he acted like he didn't care. I've been a bartender for years and you never ever ever sell pull tabs before a drink and you treat all customers equally!!! read more

Needed a new place today stop on our journey north. Found this gem! Stopped for lunch. Clean, nice bar atmosphere. Ordered burgers... they were big! Hand fresh pattied juicy with different topping and definitely with grilled onions! The Mike burger is way more than 2 one third pound patties... almost too big! Maybe needs a better bun. Unfortunately, I've eaten here several times. I've hoped the quality and deliciousness of their burgers would be enjoyable. They never are. I've tried most of the burger meals, the best option that I found with any taste is one of their chicken sandwiches. The union burger honestly tasted like a tough piece of fried shoe. The california burger always seems to be served with wilted lettuce and green tomatoes instead of a more appropriate ripened red. honestly the best thing I can say about their burgers is that they're fully cooked, The lighting and placement of tables and decor actually was more pleasing than any of their meals. Ordering a beer or a few screwdrivers improved the experience by deadening how much I noticed about what I was eating. Although on the topic of the screwdrivers...they were poorly made. They need a proper mixologist. I basically have given up on anything they serve being pleasant after six trips on nights out with friends. The food is cheap and people get what they pay for, which is a cheap meal at a bland small-town family friendly bar where liquor is a necessity to swallow the meals if you don't take note of flavour. I've had more enjoyable meals at Hardees with a thickburger and a large curly fry, and that's with the generally craptastic unhealthyness of fastfood. But at least the tomatoes are red and the burgers aren't burnt, and the meal prices are basically the same. read more

Like many others, we stopped here on the way to the North Shore. Don't be put off by the outside of the building (or name)-- we thought it would be a bar, but walked into a bright, nicely decorated cafe full of people. No smell of beer! It reminded me of the little bar and grills along the Minnesota/North Dakota border that have lunch specials and everyone in town stops in for lunch. I had the patty melt, which was really a hamburger (shaped like a hamburger) on grilled sourdough with grilled onions. Which was what I wanted! Friendly employees, incredible prices, food was good, clean place! Ranch potato wedges as a side option were fantastic!
