A friend gave us a gift card, which is how we found this place, and now we've been twice, both times for dinner. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, and it feels like a special occasion even when you're just there to enjoy dinner. Service: Amazing. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly, and the bartenders were just as warm when we sat at the bar. Both sides of the house made us feel taken care of. Food: Phenomenal. The restaurant is not huge and they have managed to get a good number of tables which as you walk through the restaurant can feel a bit cramped. When seated it doesn't feel as crowded even though the tables are close together. It is more of a challenge for the servers to navigate. The restaurant has a rustic atmosphere with exposed brick and wood. There is not much room inside if you are waiting to be seated and they will maintain a waitlist for seats at the bar. I do like that the people working the host stand will take a drink order and a server will bring your drinks while you are waiting and that will be added to your table bill so no need to worry about paying separately for the drinks. The food is very good but most entrees are a-la-carte. Prices are high but not outrageous for quality steak cuts. The wine list is extensive but most of the bottle prices are very high. There are wines available by the glass.

We were seated promptly, no awkward hovering, and our waitress showed up friendly, sharp, and knowing her way around the menu--which is a quality that ought to be listed right next to "clean silverware." We started with the crab and corn chowder, and let me say this right now: the crab was not there for decoration. It announced itself. Big flavor, no apologies, the way crab chowder ought to be. Second round was the smoked salmon salad. Perfect. The salmon was excellent, but that tarragon caper dressing had a way of making you slow down and think about life choices. I would put that dressing on just about anything that didn't move fast enough. For the main event, I chose the scallops, and I am prepared to testify they were as good as any I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, sitting pretty with an aioli that knew its job and did it well. My wife ordered the beef medallions, and I'll admit this with humility: looking back, I may have chosen wrong. Those medallions were expertly prepared and packed with flavor, the kind that makes you reconsider your own plate. We finished with cheesecake and berries. The cheesecake did its part. The berries... well, not every inning is a home run. Fortunately, the wine stepped in like a good relief pitcher and made everything right again. Through it all, the service never slipped. We were treated the way folks ought to be treated when they go out to celebrate something that matters. And that, in my book, counts just as much as what's on the plate. Sorry for the lack of pictures the food and wine kept my attention

Around 1:30 p.m., we realized our food still had not come out, while other tables being served by our waitress were receiving prompt and friendly service. Our waitress passed our table four times without stopping to provide an update on our food or apologize for the extensive wait time. We were finally able to get her attention and politely asked about the status of our order. Without an apology or acknowledgment of our experience, she responded that she would tell the chefs to "rush" our order. We never asked for our food to be rushed -- we simply wanted an update because we had already been waiting far longer than expected. When our food was eventually brought out by another staff member, it was cold after nearly two hours of waiting. At that point, my husband asked to speak with the manager because not only was the wait time unacceptable, but the food was also cold. The manager eventually came to our table, apologized for the delay, and offered to discount the meal. My husband thanked him for the apology, but by that point, we decided the experience was not worth salvaging. We told the manager we did not want the cold food or watered-down drinks. So glad that I was recommended Pimenta by a colleague because I cannot say enough great things about this place! The menu is fantastic, everything from the jerk shrimp and Kingston egg rolls, to the curry chicken and Jamaican patties, are delicious. The mac and cheese is awesome too. Portions are sizeable so you never feel hungry afterwards. I love their music and the overall ambiance gives an authentic, wholesome Jamaican vibe. The service is A+ and the staff really makes you feel welcomed. They even took care of catering for one of my corporate events where we had a retirement party for a team member, the Pimenta staff did everything to accommodate us and ensure that the event went well. I am very thankful that we chose to cater with them because the food was a big hit (especially the Jamaican patties). This restaurant is an absolute gem, definitely check it out if you're in town! read more

I recently had the pleasure of trying the Curry Chicken at Pimenta, and it was a flavorful experience from start to finish. The chicken was tender and well-marinated, with a rich curry sauce that packed a perfect balance of heat and spice. What made the experience even better was the excellent customer service. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the visit feel personal and enjoyable. You can tell they take pride in both their food and how they treat their customers. If you're in the mood for something spicy, hearty, and comforting, I definitely recommend the Curry Chicken. It's a dish that delivers bold flavor and leaves you wanting more. read more
