Decent Truck Stop in Haw River/Mebane....Clean, we'll maintained, friendly staff, Can I go home now? LOL

Thanks to this Pilot Travel Center for introducing me to Haw River, North Carolina. I never knew Haw River, a town which is located in Alamance County, existed until stopping to get gas here. It's named after the nearby Haw River which you cross over when riding on I-40/I-85. This Pilot is located just off the aforementioned interstate, exit 150. It's roughly halfway between the Triad and the Triangle. Pilot and Flying J Travel Centers (same company) are more like truck stops and comparable to Love's Travel Stops, as opposed to QuikTrip and Sheetz stores, with convenience stores that offer much more than just refreshments. Oftentimes, fast food and other chain restaurants will be on-site. In the case of this Pilot, there's a Dairy Queen and Wendy's attached to the store. Across the street, there's a Flying J with a Denny's connected to it. I just stopped to fill up on gas on my way to Chapel Hill from High Point. The gas station at this Pilot has eight pumps. I used pump #4 and it was in good condition, from the screens to the handle to the buttons. The paper towel dispenser was stocked and my paper receipt printed out clearly. The price of the gas (premium) was not as good as the prices I paid immediately preceding this fill-up at places like the Costco in Durham, QTs in Georgia and South Carolina, and a Kroger in Georgia. Compared to those places, the price for premium gas here was anywhere from $0.13 to $0.39 higher per gallon. At the same time, I didn't feel that the price was unreasonable, just more on the pricey side. I'd stop here again if I had to. This is Pilot store #6955. read more

For an RVer this place is great. Has a dump station to dump your tanks and flush out as well for $10.00. They are also affiliated with Good Sam club but there are a lot of hoops (to be expected with good Sam aka Camping world) to jump though and despite having a good Sam membership, It wasn't the correct one?? Who knows....it would have given me 10% off a $10.00 dump fee. Wow. Nevertheless, this is not an issue with this location, its an issue with good Sam/camping world. This location was clean, staff friendly and again...it has a dump station. Separate fuel lines for rv's which is real nice as well. Didn't visit the restrooms as I have my own in the rv. read more

Very clean travel center. Large selection. Restrooms were immaculate on my visit. They offer gasoline and diesel fuel with a large island for tractor trailers. Easy access right off the interstate. read more

For a travel center where you want to have a pit (aka bio break), get something to eat or grab coffee, and/or get gas, this is definitely an ideal stop. We got to use the clean restrooms but also used this opportunity to get some fries and a frosty from Wendy's and coffee from Dunkin Donuts. I was bummed when I realized I could have gotten a Blizzard from DQ. What I'm thrilled about this place is how clean it was. Just watch out when you are leaving the whole complex as there are a lot of truckers so seeing past their huge trucks for the exit requires patience or knowledge read more

Decent convenience store. It's got pretty much everything you may need. It's adjoined with Wendy's & Dairy Queen. It also has a Dunkin Donuts. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had every type of sweetener and flavorings for coffee. They had limited donuts but no worries. read more

Now rebadged as a Pilot Truck Stop, this WilcoHess had a sign out front advertising Dunkin Donuts and I wanted a good cup of coffee. Well, it was pretty overdone and not that great. Still, the gal who rang up my $2.10 cup of coffee ($2.10!!!) was efficient. It's an easy in and easy out, back onto the Interstate. read more

Yup it's time to review another gas station! As a single female who travels alone frequently, I'd like to say it's important for me to feel safe when I stop for gas especially when it's late at night. This place fit the ticket! It was well lit, competitive gas prices, and very clean inside! They even have a Wendy's and bask in Robbins inside. I helped myself to the nice dunkin donut coffee bar. Whipped up some iced mocha coffee to my liking. If you want some kitschy North Carolina souvenirs they also have that too! Oh, and A plus plus for clean bathrooms . read more

Oh yeah, I'm a big fan of this truck stop. I can make it farther on my trip from DC to my folks place without having to refuel, but this is a convenient place to stop having survived the 124 miles of pine tree boredom that is I-85 between Petersburg, VA and Durham, NC. Once clear of the traffic fray around Durham, I'm more than happy to climb out of the car for a bit. While other points along the way are kind of on a cycle depending on my mood, pretty much I stop here every time I make the trip - in both directions. The convenience store portion is huge. I haven't even wandered over to the portions that are more trucker oriented. Prices are very reasonable - and the Hess gas is usually some of the cheapest on my trip. There's also a Wendys and a Dairy Queen (see separate Yelp) here so you're not just limited to snack foods and the restrooms are very clean and well serviced. What has me completely enamored with this stop however is the convenience store contains a mini-Stuckey's. As a kid, my brother and I would eagerly search for the signature gold roof of the Stuckey's stores as we road along the highway on family vacations south. Many smiles were had over pecan logs and pralines when Dad would pull off for a treat. Stand alone Stuckey's are nearly a thing of the past, but a quick stop in here on my way to see my parents never fails to bring back memories of days long ago. read more

I usually like pilot but not today...Came in at 730am to get our usual after getting a cup and a half the container was empty on top of that we had to microwave it to heat it up. We went to check out told the cashier about the situation being the coffee was barely warm and still charged full price..WOW talk about lack of service.. read more

Nice stop when you need gas and a few drink supplies for the road. We will go here again when we travel.

I fuel at this truck stop every time we travel to the Blue Ridge Mtns. It used to have the best fuel prices on our 225 mile trip. The staff is consistently slow at their job and the fuel pumps are usually backed up so plan on a wait. I still stop here mainly because it's a decent place to stop, stretch , and use their restrooms. read more
