I enjoyed their 4:30 afternoon classes and some of their Saturday classes. Many Barre studios only give you access to one location, so I loved that they gave you access to multiple. They also had fun events to encourage you to work out more. They usually had different barre socks than the Kildare location, for $18 per pair. Their Pure Barre app made it easy to sign up or cancel classes too.

When I think of barre, I think of perky, petite young women gracefully poised beside it, doing…read morepliés and point... building up their slender legs to support and sustain them with an incredible combo of strength and flexibility. The workout trend Pure Barre is designed around getting that dancer body... But through totally different means! I'm talking dubstep. Blasting as girls place kickballs between their thighs, then squat, tuck, and tooch (to borrow a term coined by Miss Tyra). It's true: I never thought I'd be booty-tooching to Scrillex... outside the privacy of my own home. The workout started with some simple stretches and upper body routine, and some floor work in the form of plank and pushups. They only have dumbells in 2, 3, and 5 pounds. The short number of reps and low weight made this section of class completely un-challenging for me. But that disappointment was eased by the next part, where we stepped to the barre and focused on hips, thighs, and --as they like to delicately call it in Pure Barre-- "seat*." [*I don't have a seat. I have a bubbalicious boo-tay. Which is why I wanted to go to this class in the first place. So for clarification purposes in this review, my seat will instead be termed butt.] The most annoying thing for me was that the instructor demonstrated very few of the positions (perhaps due to lack of space on the barre); and it was difficult for me to follow her instructions some of the time. Many of the movements are so isolated, it's hard to look at a classmate and copy from what they're doing too. So parts of it did not feel tough... which left me wondering if I was doing the movement correctly. But other parts had my entire lower body shaking like a leaf, butt and quad muscles on fire. And I absolutely felt those muscles recovering the following 48 hours, so I know I did at least some of the things right! Class finished up with some ab work, which I also felt was too easy, and some finishing stretches. One hour flies by pretty quickly. And I can definitely see the appeal in a class that's shaped like this... getting all the core muscle groups into one workout. But I would personally prefer a class that focuses exclusively on the lower body, to round out my own exercise regimen and perhaps benefit my running as well. I did a drop-in class that was specially priced at $10; reasonable. (Their regular drop-in is $23.)

I have sent two messages to the help center with no reply, then I dropped into the Cary studio where they gave me a contact name and said it cannot be handled in-studio, then I called the contact the studio provided and they indicated they could not help, then I went through website and tried to cancel that way. This worked but I never received a confirmation. I had to finally call customer service at 833-448-2561. They were able to confirm the cancellation on the phone but could not explain the missed messages through portal. Overall a good place, just be forewarned you will have to do some serious hustle to get that cancellation.

My workouts were intense but I had plateaued and was constantly injured. I also missed the social aspect of a gym community, something I felt was lacking at my gym. For my husband's birthday, all he asked for was for me to come try his gym. I did my week free trial, convinced I would miss something from my current routine. Spoiler - I didn't. It was such a great experience, I canceled my gym and joined F45. I was most impressed all the trainers knew me, my goals, and my limitations nearly immediately. Since joining, we completed the F45 Challenge with great results. It's so much easier to share this with my husband and the friends I've made at F45. Working out is enjoyable again and I couldn't be happier to be a part of the F45 Family.

Honestly I've been…read morein their plaza quite a few times and didn't notice them until recently (Peri Brother's is in the same plaza). They've only been open here a little over a year. They offer a free intro class so I went for it! Rachel and Dacey were there on my first day and I have to say I've never felt so welcomed at a fitness studio before. Both women were super friendly and helpful, they made me feel comfortable right away. I also appreciated the intro texts from the owner Jennifer, she is also quick to text back if you have any questions. Schedule wise I have mainly been going to Emily's classes and she has been great as well. I really love the class itself because the minute you are so sick of cycling or are just so done with strength training, you are already moving on to the next thing. The class is 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength training, closing with 20 minutes of yoga. It's honestly awesome and a little bit of everything. There are folks within a wide variety of fitness levels in each class. They have a board up in spin, but you only compete against yourself and not the whole class. In strength there are always modifications to make things easier or more difficult. The yoga section is beginner yoga, but I'd say it would be good to have some knowledge of yoga before your first class, just the basics. The staff take care of cleaning everything so you don't have to worry about that in between sessions. They clean things right away so you know they value making sure everything is in great shape for everyone. You leave your stuff in strength when you move to yoga and oftentimes when I go back to my station they have taken the care to literally fold my sweatshirt while they are cleaning the station. I've just never been to a gym studio that takes that much care. On top of the free intro class, I've noticed they often have promotions going on for your first month. Overall, I am so happy I've joined SPENGA and I hope it's something I continue to keep up with. If you are looking for soemthing new, I highly recommend checking them out.

I hadn't taken a Pilates class, or even been on a reformer, since pre-covid, so their beginner classes were exactly what I needed to get back into my practice. I'm a fairly clumsy person, and I've always been amazed at how strong and graceful the reformer makes me feel. It's been so wonderful being back; it truly feels like coming home. The teachers at Raleigh Pilates all have their different approaches, but compassion and gentleness seem to be a common factor in each of them. I'm about halfway through my second ten-pack and I am excited to move into the next level class after building my strength back up. The space is lovely, the machines are top notch, the teachers are great, and I've enjoyed meeting the other students. They have truly built something wonderful. Here are (hopefully) some helpful tips: They have a class intro special for new students. Parking can be a challenge, as it is in Five Points, so I always give myself ten minutes or so before class starts to make sure I can circle the block if needed. The beginning week of each month they do "tower week" which is really fun and a nice change of pace to keep your workouts varied. Their highest tier of membership comes with a couple of visitor passes. They sell grippy socks if you need them.

I did learn that sumo squats are not my friend!. If you have been to Pure Barre I would say the classes have similarities but Barre3 has more cardio/yoga and a more intense warmup. I like that they throw more cardio in, it makes it feel like a better all around workout. I hate when you go to a new studio for the first time and no one really shows you the ropes. Not the case with Barre3! The front desk had already marked down that it was my first time so after a bit of paperwork I got a quick tour and learned what to grab for each class. Tori C was an awesome instructor for my first time back at the barre in years. She was friendly, motivating, and always there to give me a helpful correction. I have also really enjoyed Suzanne's class. She is upbeat and motivating! The AC was not working at full force during the last class and she had me so much in the zone I didn't even notice. Highly recommend checking them out. They even offer child care at a super affordable rate during class. I think that is such a nice touch for moms. **Really bummed they are no longer letting Class Pass people sign up for classes, the only option now is a 7pm weekday class. I completely understand not letting Class Passers in to their busiest classes, but for example Tuesday at noon, that class is usually pretty empty.
