I've always wanted to try Core Power Yoga and I think I'm going to be hooked. Beautiful studio, large selection of classes that will work for beginner to advanced. Several of my colleagues have been raving about CorePower for years and I clearly see why. Great intro packages to get you started.

The room was nice and toasty for class, and the instructor guided us through a series of poses that cleared my mind from a hectic day of work. Bonus: The studio is next to a gorgeous lake that you can feast your eyes on for some post-workout meditation. I came through ClassPass, but it looks really easy to sign up online, etc.

My buddy in NJ got me hooked on hot yoga and so far I've taken about 7-8 of hot yoga classes too. Now in NJ hot yoga is a dry heat. Fast forward to NC and the hot yoga at Firefly is another animal. The room is heated with like humidifier steam...you can literally see the steam in the room. When class starts the steamers are turned off and that heat is on in that room! I saw 2 other objects in the room and maybe some heat was coming from them too. Oh did I mention the temperature outside was already about 95 degrees. I think the room itself was 100 degrees. The instructor William was amazing. He has a very calming voice and because the class was so intimate he knew I was never in his class and another woman as well. She was from Philly and I was the Jersey girl. William welcomes you and makes you feel very comfortable. We progressed through the moves slowly but intensely. William also walked around the room to correct form and help you to get deeper into the stretch. When the class was done corpse pose aka: savasana felt so GOOD! I loved the ice cold towel they give each student at the end. The studio is hidden. At first I thought my GPS was wrong. Have you ever seen the movie Deliverance? Yes, think that movie. The studio is inside of a like country club/retirement community/pool house...just weird but it's beautiful. The yoga place when you walk in is on the left and there is an attendant at the desk. There are locker rooms and showers...the yoga room is upstairs door on the right. I purchased a 2 week deal for $25. I am in town for 3 days but you can't beat the deal. So if in the Cary/Raleigh area check them out and make sure you're able to take the heat! Good place very good place.

I thought the classes were pricey for the area at $16 a class, but they do offer pay what you can community classes. According to their website they designed their studio environmentally green including using only "non-petroleum soy candles". Music is played during class which is nice. The studio has high ceilings and tall windows, but really only comfortably fits about 15 people practicing at once, but they can squeeze in 45 or so with mats 3 inches apart from each other. They have a store in the front with lots of books, dvds, and clothing. With a name like Blue Lotus I was expecting to see a blue wall somewhere or a lotus candle, something that plays on their name in the decor, but I think they were going for a white space with minimal decor. The students that come here are all very friendly and chat with each other.

And now my muscles are making sure I'm acutely aware of those poses. Carrington wasn't afraid to adjust pretty much everyone in her class, and I have to admit her adjustments were just about perfect. The studio is off the beaten path, and parking was sparse. There is only one bathroom and no other changing area, so get there early if you need to change. But the space is perfect for yoga. Not pretentious, but still clean, spacious, and inviting. Definitely check out Blue Lotus, and I highly recommend Carrington's class, especially if you have a decent practice or just want your butt kicked. Your muscles may hate you the next couple of days, but you'll be proud of yourself after that :)

Which is fine because it's policy but just letting you know in advance that if you need more flexibility around time this may pose as difficult. I had paid for three classes in advance as that is how they had it laid out at the time. They mentioned they would let the manager know to see if theres credit reimbursement but I havent heard anything since. I've only been to beginner classes but the instructors seem ok! Not super advanced but not super new either so would be according to each person's judgement.

I searched for yoga studios in the area and would love to try aerial in my lifetime! Fortunately, Pura Vida Studio is in close proximity. An excellent way to give a try with 10 classes excellent prices. The investment in oneself is priceless. The website is easy to navigate and the studio owner, Alicia, is extremely kind to answer questions prior to registration. A few email exchanges along with a follow up and 5 stars on customer focus was appreciated. I opted to begin by jump starting and return to yoga practice on Saturday, then Sunday....next one Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, ... no option Thursday so I will have a rest day, then back Friday and so forth! A real kick starter to get my fitness goals back on track and strengthen my body, mind, heart, and soul. Pura Vida Studio is a lovely, well appointed, and top notch studio in the safety category. Class starts on time and door locked for client safety and security this is pivotal and while some may disagree, fundamental safety protocols are essential. Pura Vida Studio is clean and utilized space well and even offered a tour first day as new client. A sense of positivity in this local community. I enjoyed meeting the owner who set up the room prior to a full class with a motivational card which seems to be spot on and a delightful presentation and experience. Sunday was lovely from the moment entering and exiting the studio. Thank you Alicia and Staff..namaste, see you soon! She watched everyone and made sure that no one fainted. The temperature was a sweaty 103 degrees. It felt amazing and everyone was dripping with sweat. The background music was wonderfully invigorating and, combined with Jana's encouraging words, I almost felt that I could twist myself into some of the poses even when I couldn't. I enjoyed watching as a few held their entire body weight on one arm and twisted the rest of their body into a pose and held it. Wowsa, Herculean Yoga-ites. As I lay flat on my back, eyes closed and feeling good about surviving this hour long class, I felt a fabulously ice-cold towel placed on my hand. I immediately placed it on my face and breathed the soothing aroma of lavender as the towel instantly cooled my sweaty face. Heavenly. There are a few changing rooms with curtains and several cubbyholes where you can put your stuff and mats are available to rent for $2. Overall, a beautiful studio for hot yoga.

The line up of teachers is absolutely amazing, having almost all my favorite instructors in the same place is awesome. They have a ton of workshops booked up, and I signed up for an arm balance class coming up. They have the cheapest drop in rate in town at $13. There are plenty of mats to rent for $2 if you don't have you're own. They also offer water, and coconut water to purchase. The studio is beautiful, obviously it's brand new so it definitely has a lot of perks. The heat wasn't too much and I think they are still working on the temp but it felt good and it's not stuffy at all. I took a class with Meg tonight and really enjoyed the 75min flow. There is a parking lot and they are right next to House of Hops on Glenwood Ave. So sad this studio wasn't open when I lived on this side of town, but I plan on making the drive and coming back again soon.
