I had their 1 year membership for $99 per month for about 2 years. I split my time between the 2 Cary locations because they were close to work and it was easy to go right after work. I enjoyed their 4:30 afternoon classes and some of their Saturday classes. Many Barre studios only give you access to one location, so I loved that they gave you access to multiple. They also had fun events to encourage you to work out more. They usually had different barre socks than the Kildare location, for $18 per pair. Their Pure Barre app made it easy to sign up or cancel classes too. read more

When I think of barre, I think of perky, petite young women gracefully poised beside it, doing pliés and point... building up their slender legs to support and sustain them with an incredible combo of strength and flexibility. The workout trend Pure Barre is designed around getting that dancer body... But through totally different means! I'm talking dubstep. Blasting as girls place kickballs between their thighs, then squat, tuck, and tooch (to borrow a term coined by Miss Tyra). It's true: I never thought I'd be booty-tooching to Scrillex... outside the privacy of my own home. The workout started with some simple stretches and upper body routine, and some floor work in the form of plank and pushups. They only have dumbells in 2, 3, and 5 pounds. The short number of reps and low weight made this section of class completely un-challenging for me. But that disappointment was eased by the next part, where we stepped to the barre and focused on hips, thighs, and --as they like to delicately call it in Pure Barre-- "seat*." [*I don't have a seat. I have a bubbalicious boo-tay. Which is why I wanted to go to this class in the first place. So for clarification purposes in this review, my seat will instead be termed butt.] The most annoying thing for me was that the instructor demonstrated very few of the positions (perhaps due to lack of space on the barre); and it was difficult for me to follow her instructions some of the time. Many of the movements are so isolated, it's hard to look at a classmate and copy from what they're doing too. So parts of it did not feel tough... which left me wondering if I was doing the movement correctly. But other parts had my entire lower body shaking like a leaf, butt and quad muscles on fire. And I absolutely felt those muscles recovering the following 48 hours, so I know I did at least some of the things right! Class finished up with some ab work, which I also felt was too easy, and some finishing stretches. One hour flies by pretty quickly. And I can definitely see the appeal in a class that's shaped like this... getting all the core muscle groups into one workout. But I would personally prefer a class that focuses exclusively on the lower body, to round out my own exercise regimen and perhaps benefit my running as well. This is my all time favorite workout! I love how there are three flavors of classes available including traditional Barre, Empower, and Reform. You are guaranteed never to get bored. The studio and all of its facilities are clean. The music choice during workouts always varies, so it is never redundant. The instructors are organized, knowledgeable, and friendly. I have no idea why this place has such a dainty sounding name, because the sessions are pure hulkness! This location recently opened down the street from me and I decided to try it out especially when they are having a $10/session at 12PM on MWF. This is supposed to be a yoga/pilates/ballet training fitness class. I used to do a lot of yoga and pilates, so I came in here thinking that it's a casual yoga/pilates class with bars. Boy, was I wrong. My finger muscles are still shaking as I'm typing this. The warm-up is intense - I'd say it's more intense than the main event! I had a sudden feeling of regret in the middle of the warm-up but it was too late to make a run for it. Even if I tried, my leg muscles will give out on me after what they made me do. I have no doubt pure barre is effective in making you stronger, because it's all small muscle conditioning by holding and pulsing. 100 small muscle pulses instead of 20 big muscle lifts. You get the idea. They also managed to target all parts of your body in the short hour that went by before you know it. It's the fastest hour I've ever been through while being under intense amount of pain. I'm not sure if this class is so dude friendly because you have to put a ball between your legs (right under the crotch) for many exercises. Don't say Jane didn't warn you when the instructor tells you to put a ball there to squeeze and hold. The instructor was also very nice and attentive to everyone's form. When she corrects you, she does it quietly and discretely. Unlike some other fitness classes, where they yell into their microphone about what you are specifically doing wrong. My dignity remains intact here - so newbies don't need to be shy! You also don't need to bring anything. Just yourself, and a bottle of water! Come try it out - you have nothing to lose! read more

I've done barre at a few other places but came to this location with my friend the morning of her wedding. Yes, she worked out the morning of her wedding (chilliest bride ever). A group of her friends came with a bridal veil for her and pink tiaras for us. The instructor allowed the bride to be to pick the mix a few days before and they presented her with a bottle of prosecco wine as we left. Very thoughtful and friendly. I don't do barre often enough to be very good at it but the instructor offered simple suggestions to increase my workout. Boy, did I ever feel it the next day. It was already hard enough to climb out of bed but this only exteninuated the circumstances. Really fun class and great atmosphere. Glad I have class pass so I can visit more often. read more

AMAZING! I lived in Raleigh for a few months over the summer and visited the PB in Raleigh (North Hills) and HATED it. I got such a bad vibe there, the instructors weren't helpful, and I was completely lost. Not to mention the classes were insanely crowded. At the PB in Cary, my experience was totally different. Instructors actually commented on my form and made adjustments as they saw fit. They also were available to talk and answer questions after class. It's a small studio, but if you go in the AM the classes are not crowded at all. I used to go in the AM or during my lunch break, and the classes never exceeded about 7-8 people. Sometimes it was just 3 people! I loved it! And you WILL feel the burn! read more

I just read thru some of the less than stellar reviews and I had to respond. I can only say you must have been in the wrong place if you didn't think this was a hardcore total body workout. Pure Barre is pure HARD---everywhere. I've done all kinds of workouts in my day and I have to say without a doubt these are the hardest I have ever done (yes, even working with some pretty darn good personal trainers). I love the loud music---it helps me focus less on how much my whole lower body is shaking. The instructors are helpful and while they don't show you each move, instructions are clear and if you aren't getting it, they discretely come over and help correct your form. I have never been in a group class where the instructor wasn't more concerned with getting her own workout on than in helping participants. While this isn't for everyone and I will say you should probably add some kind of cardio to the mix, I've lost tons of pounds and inches since starting in May and I can't imagine going a day or two without Pure Barre. Finally decided to check out the place. What a disappointment! Pros: 1. Nice location 2. Clean Cons: 1. Although clean, it looks messy and in disarray since the reception is so small. 2. Receptionist lacks customer service skills or business knowledge. When I walked in I asked for some information regarding Pure Barre. She gave me a sheet of paper (told me to read to get information) and a card with class hours. I asked her if was similar to physique 57 and she said, what is that?! 3. The class was a mess, the music distracting and too loud. The instructor gave out instructions like a drill Sargent; not engaging at all. Could barely understand what she was saying since she was talking so fast and most of the time looking at the floor without making contact. Have the impression that she was in a rush and wanted the class to end ASAP. The floor is covered with rough Berber carpets that scratched my elbows while doing the plank. 20 minutes into it I walked out. I shared my experience and concerns w the receptionist and her response was, "sorry it did not work for you". It was not worth $23.00. read more

Pure Barre Cary is awesome! Although the workout is only 55 minutes and the maximum weight is 5lbs don't let that fool you... it is hard workout. I already feel the difference in my body and continually look forward to the next PB session I have scheduled. Arms, abs, seat (booty) and thighs are the target and get blasted every session. I've learned to embrace the shake (muscle fatigue), love getting under the barre in my highest pair of high heels (most exercises are performed on the highest tip toes possible and add an extra burn) and always tuck (posture to blast lower abs) for all 55 minutes. My only criticism is I wish the cute PB branded gear was more affordable. $60+ for a tank is crazy to me. read more

I have tried numerous types of workouts from group fitness to at home programs, and nothing gave me the results I wanted as quickly as Pure Barre. I only did Pure Barre 4x a week for just 3 weeks and after that I was able to get into and hold yoga poses I hadn't been able to achieve in 2 years of yoga practice. After that I was hooked. I saw noticeable changes in my body in less than a month, much quicker than the usual 3 months for other fitness programs I have done. All of the instructors here are amazing. They make adjustments throughout the class and provide motivation by calling you out by name to praise your good form. They are always available before and after class to answer any questions you may have or to discuss any modifications you may need due to your specific physical limitations. read more

In the past I have run, done yoga, lifted weights, taken dance classes, and biked to stay in shape. I used to be strong, flexible, and athletic, but a few of years ago, I started noticing my strength and flexibility diminishing. Over the past year, I have noticed a rapid decline in what I can do. Currently, I am an out of shape, nearly 50 year old with chronic lower body pain and stiffness. Not wanting to start my 50th year in such bad shape, I started looking for something to help me get into better shape. A neighbor mentioned she had taken a Pure Barre class and felt it was very beneficial. I went to the website for the Cary/Morrisville Location and read all the info and watched all the videos. I have always said I was in the best shape of my life when I took a ballet class (isometric contractions work), so I took advantage of a promotion they were running and went to a class. It's so much more than ballet. It's all the best of different exercise regimes rolled into one! That first class kicked my behind! I know this my seem too good to be true, but I could feel a difference in my body after one class...I was not stiff and my pain was much less. By the fourth class, I can feel a difference in the tone of my abdominals and bum and my posture has improved...I catch myself standing straighter (I generally have bad posture). When I came in for my very first class, the instructor introduced herself, familiarized me with the equipment and format, answered all my questions, and helped me throughout the class! This workout targets and exhausts each muscle group, so I won't lie - it's challenging. But the instructors are encouraging and energetic. I've been coming here for about 2 weeks now, and all of the instructors I've had class with are very nice and helpful. They correct your pose when they see you doing something wrong, which I really appreciate. You can also definitely feel the impact of the poses on your body. I can't say enough good things about Pure Barre as a whole, and the staff and instructors at PB Cary! It is a challenging workout that you will feel all day, but it is also one that will not make you too sore to make it through the rest of the day. Every couple of months, the warm-up changes, and there are constantly new choreography being added to the mix, so the classes never get monotonous or stale. And even after hundreds of classes, it is still challenging- if you legs aren't shaking or if you feel like you need more of a challenge in class, all you have to do it raise your heels a little higher or sink your seat a little lower. Pure Barre also added in a cardio class (Pure Barre Platform) at the beginning of he year, so you can now take both traditional classes and a cardio class to give you a more diverse and well rounded workout experience without having to go to multiple gyms. I highly recommend PB Cary (and PB in general) to anyone looking for a fun and challenging workout or something to complement their already established workout routine. read more
