I went to Pike Place Bakery last week and I was quickly reminded why I don't go there more often. Picture two women behind the counter. Now, picture them ignoring you. That's pretty much what happened to me. Again. Basically, my child wanted donuts and they looked really, really, really good. I was on the north side of the counter. Woman #1 was helping someone on the other side. Woman #2 was standing in front of the counter where I was - looking right at me. As I began to say something to her, Woman #2 moved deeper into the depths of her space. Strike one. Okay, fine. I decided to go to the other side of the counter, you know, where Woman #1 was. As I neared the counter, Woman #1 walked towards the back of the space to talk to Woman #2. Strike two. After that, they proceeded to talk and finally we had to say something. Strike three. Honestly, if my child didn't want something, I would have left. I have to admit that I am baffled. In my experience, bakers and those who work at bakeries in Seattle have always been super friendly. I would settle for plain old, everyday friendly from these ladies. I'm sure they don't need my money as they must do brisk business (there was no one there besides my group and the one other person that was helped before us). In terms of the product, the baked goods are very good and come at a reasonable price. Many people rave about the Texas sized donuts but I've never had occasion for one quite that big. The selection is wide an varied and surely has something anyone would love. Sadly, I'd rather spend twice as much money for a decent product and acceptable levels of customer service. I guess it will be another six months before I try Pike Place Bakery again. read more

I got a day-old Chocolate Croissant from here and it was very good! I brought it home and warmed it up in the microwave and the chocolate oozed out of it! Also, I appreciated that their Chocolate Croissants were actual croissants and not Pain ya chocolat (like you normally see in bakeries, but they still call them chocolate croissants). The day-old pastries were almost half the price so I thought it was worth it! However, the staff was not super friendly nor attentive. I felt like I waited forever for somebody to acknowledge that I was there and did not feel comfortable paying with card because they took forever to process other customers transactions. I paid with cash to make the transaction easier and shorter. Great quality pastries (day-old ones are worth it), but not great service (especially for take-out)! read more

I can see why this place is so popular as the location is in the center of the Pike - literally steps away from the famous fish-throwing counter :) the food is quite pricey but can be rewarding if you choose the right items!! The cream puff was pretty awful though. It's whip cream-filled (not custard) and you know how some whip creams leave a waxy texture on your tongue afterward? Yeah. Disappointed about that. Oreo cannoli was simply delicious. Peanut butter brownie was pretty good as well. This place is delicious and my wife and I always stop here for desert after grabbing some lunch downtown. So many tasty options to choose from! Im partial to the pudding cups and cookies and my wife loves the raspberry thumbprints! Everything I have had here has been delicious, not sure whats up with the overall 3 star rating. My only complaint and not really a fair one is that they rotate what they bake every day so some of my favorites are not always available when I stop by. read more

Okay, so I am probably a cheap loser, but don't do the "day old" section. Cheddar jalepeno rolls were passable, and cheap enough I don't feel entirely ripped off, but still. Croissants were a good value, too, but some bites being more salty and some being almost sweet, others being normal, buttery croissant-ness was really strange. I don't think a fresh croissant would have changed that. Yuk. Good news is their fresh baked goods are still yummy! Child devoured a mint divinity and frosted shortbread with nonpareils. read more

This was the first spot we ate at in the Pike Place Market, and we were not disappointed. The staff was nice and helpful, and the selection was the only negative, because it was so difficult to make a choice. We ended up choosing a strawberry jam filled donut with chocolate and cream cheese. Woah! It was amazing. With a hot cup of coffee, there is no better way to spend some time in Seattle. read more

We were walking Pike's Place Public Market and noticed a beautiful display case of baked goods and pastries and knew we had to stop. We grabbed a few of their blueberry doughnuts and walked away pretty happy. I had a few bites of my doughnut, and it was alright. It didn't blow my mind like I thought it should have. Later on, however, I threw it in the microwave to give it some warmth and it tasted pretty amazing. If the doughnut was hot from the get go, it would have been so so good! Next time I'll ask what's the freshest they have out, otherwise I may try their more popular items. read more

I'm very sad this place has been closed since before Christmas. In Washington we were under Covid orders for restaurant closure of all inside seating, but Pike Place bakery was just a takeout counter. Take out has always been allowed so I'm concerned they may be one of the many(too many) around downtown that haven't survived. I am trying to remain hopeful they will reopen soon as some restrictions have been lifted. It was always a lovely walk to get a pastry, flowers & coffee each morning. I enjoy the coconut macaroons every time I come here. Whenever I'm in Seattle I have to come grab some. This time they're in a flight with me back to share with my family. I cannot comment on other selections because I don't come here for those. Just the macaroons. read more

The donuts I bought were all undercooked and raw. They are famous for large donuts and I bought their average sized Apple Fritter and 1 Texas sized chocolate circle. The average side had a good flavor, lots of apples but was stretchy dough inside. The Texas size was horrible and inedible. Only the outer dough crust was cooked. The entire donut inside was uncooked, raw stretchy dough that was disgusting. I wasted a lot of money on 2 donuts and threw them away (Texas Chocolate circle $8.59 and Apple Fritter donut $3). If you love undercooked apple fritters and raw extra large donuts this place is your dream come true. read more

Pike Place Bakery - 3 Stars: nice little bakery right in the main Pike Place Market venue...nice bakery items. We shared an eclair and it was very good...nice crumb to the cake and nice light custard filling. And besides that the chocolate on top was perfect. Just had my birthday cake from this place, and as I expected it was a nightmare of cavity-inducing proportion. Poor hubby got a recommendation from someone to get my cake here...please never again! Undoubtedly this was a beautiful cake (on the outside). Within however, hid such excess off sugar and frosting that EVEN with the top and outer side frosting scraped off, it's STILL intolerably sweet. The frosting was SUPPPOSED to be whipped cream...but obviously had some gelatin in there or something. I've made a stabalized whipped cream cake and I know what the real stuff tastes like. This cake is only good for that middle or the night sugar fix...you know what I mean. Fork in hand, one or two bites, done. Any place with cream puffs and donuts with nothing more to boast but their SIZE is not a place I have high expectations of. Sorry, PPB fans. read more

One of the most overlooked bakeries in Pike Place. So it has a prime location. Next to the fish throwing guys and the stairs down. But it always seems to be in the backdrop. Which means more goodies for those that do notice. These guys make some wonderful baked goods and definitely contend with all the other bakeries in Pike. They have some Italian style bakery goods, donuts, coffee cakes, cookies, cakes, etc. I really come here for their half dipped cookies. They have a great assortment of cookies dipped in chocolate. Oh, and the old black and whites I remember from growing up in New York. Definitely a good stop through Pike and if you are a bakery lover, give it a try. read more

My sunny afternoon was assaulted by the poor excuse for cannoli being sold at the Pike Place Bakery. I should have known better - there were piles of them pre-filled in the display case. Most self-respecting bakeries fill them to order so that the shell doesn't get soggy. Ignoring my better judgment, I dove in, and was surprised when I bit in to find not a cannoli, but rather a soggy shell filled with....buttercream icing?!?! Cannoli is not to be stuffed with buttercream icing! Jesus what a disappointment! Cannoli should be stuffed with custard or mascarpone. And for ~$4 each? Terrible. Just terrible. read more

When I finally got the lady's attention after her other customers left, I simply asked her what the name of an item behind the window was. She kind of yelled at me and told me to look at the bottom shelf then walked away. I can't vouch for the taste of their baked goods because I didn't want to support their attitude. Now just after having two donuts less than hours ago at Top Pot, I wanted so desperately to try one here to rate the place. The choices are endless with great prices to match. I opted for the Fried Apple Fritter. Great choice I might add. Fried to perfection with the right amount of apples. This thing was delicious, I didn't want me to eat the whole thing as I said earlier I had already eaten two donuts. If ever in Pike Place stop and try the place you can't go wrong. ugh... what is up with their cake. I bought a piece of pink cake because it looked pretty fancy with pretty frosting on the outside. It cost me like 5 bucks for that piece but it was disgusting. The frosting had the same texture as the caulk that I used to seal my bathroom, very hard and sticky. After eating half of the cake, I felt like I had eaten a cup of playdough and felt nauseated. Absolutely horrifying experience. I have not tried their cookies so I don't know how they are. If you want a cake in downtown, go to Gelatiamo, Le Panier Very French Bakery, The Confectional, Macrina Bakery & Cafe or even Kress IGA Supermarket. My daughter got some kind of brownie in a little cup with chocolate mousse on it and didn't like it. I got a cookie, I wasn't impressed. Sad, because the stuff LOOKS fantastic, but not much flavor other than sugar. The brownie cup alone was $7.50. I think their stuff is overpriced and lacks flavor. Just happened to be walking by and saw their sign for Monday special deals: _/ 55 cents for everything in `showcase` - which there is a lot to choose from, mostly pastries and sweet stuff. _/ $1 loaf of bread -- also a good variety of options. I thought, hmm..it`s cheap enough, I`d give it a try. The sweets that I got were just OK good. But the bread!! I got the poppy seed garlic cheese, or something like that. It looks all crazy and stuffed with things. For a dollar, that was probably the best deal I`ve ever gotten for a loaf of bread. Even better than when I dumpster-dive the Essential Baking Co.`s day-olds. This was fresh; it was still warm! Definitely coming back to try their different breads and sweet things. Baked goods and I have a love/hate relationship, I love them but they hate me enough to increase my waistline. The baked goods here are no exception. I toiled for a few mins then decided on Mint Chocolate Chip Divinity. It was almost as if I was eating a minty ball of silk, no I don't know what silk would taste like if it were dipped in a minty concoction but still that's what came to mind. I had the cinnamon crispy. It was light and crispy with a perfect balance of sweetness. Large in size. Which was good considering I was splitting the $5 goody. I love Pike Place Bakery! I'm here nearly every day to spend my $1.50 on a fresh loaf of french bread! I also like to see what they have on special from their "day old" selection. The prices on those items are usually fantastic! They also seem to have daily specials like any loaf of bread for one low price (I think it was $1 or $2), including fancy cheese breads and everything else, one day a week! They've got cookies that are just delicious and doughnuts the size of a dinner plate! They're known for their giant doughnuts as much as anything else. If you're looking for them, they're situated just to the right of the most well-recognized fish stand that you see throwing fish, right in the main entrance of Pike Place Market. The girls that work here are always friendly enough and have given me what I asked for, so that's all I could want! read more

I bought a blueberry danish from here for $4. Less than 10 seconds later, I dropped it on the floor because the bag it came in was not tied properly. The employee was unsympathetic and quite rude about the situation, so I had to purchase another one. I'd understand if it was during peak hours but this was literally right before they were about to close, so the rest of the danishes they had were probably going to just be thrown out anyway? I got a cannoli at 5.50. Just like someone else below mentioned about no-ricotta cream filling, this bakery don't use ricotta cheese for the cannoli filling, instead they filled with white color frosting. I feel like they are unethical bakery as majority of their customer are probably tourist who are not coming back their business anyway. I hate to throw the food but all three of us couldn't eat even one bite. Another item we got was kind of white cookie ( I don't recall the name). They look so tasty, but again, it is just taste like plain sugar. We throw it again sadly. The cake slices are gigantic as are their cream puffs and it's your standard country-style Dutch bakery that is definitely not diet friendly.
