I've followed Piglet & Co since their pop up days. Having roots in Taiwan, it is great to see how the cuisine evolved with California produce and the changing palettes of immigrants and locals alike. It's hard to categorize Taiwanese food. Night market food is probably its most famous, but there is also breakfast food, banquet food, indigenous food and a bazillion other dishes partially inspired by all the Asian countries surrounding the island. Piglet & Co has taken the approach to infuse traditional Taiwanese breakfast with flavours commonly found around San Francisco, as well as spins on beloved Taiwanese snacks and drinks. If you come here with a big group (6+ people), just do yourself a favour and order at least one of everything on the menu. The items on the menu rotates over time; and it's often hard for me to pick. What I most often order is the shrimp toast (the best!!), perhaps a whole steamed fish during dinner service, with a side of mala sambal. Their salads, roasted cabbage or lu rou fan (braised pork rice) are crowd pleasers as well. For dessert, they often have boba on toast which is both decadent and dangerous. The bar has expanded somewhat recently into cocktails; and while I haven't indulged in too many of those yet, they do have a solid rotation of teas and beers on tap. This remains one of my favourite places to bring people to. True, you can get more authentic Taiwanese cuisine down in the South Bay, but the creativity and the precise style of preparation here cannot be beat. They often host pop ups and collaborations with other chefs as well, and they often are quite fantastic!

Been dying to try Piglet & co and it did not disappoint. Vibe of the restaurant is great and everyone was very nice. They had a high hair AND kid friendly plate / utensils / cup for my kiddo. We ordered a ton including the pickle party, the ribs, the shrimp toast, and a few others. We also ordered a side of their chili oil. The shrimp toast was so good we had wished we ordered one for each of us. The ribs and pork belly were perfectly cooked and delicious. The pickled wood ear mushrooms were ADDICTING. And the chili oil was so good I asked for a takeout container to take it home. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu!

Been hearing a lot about Piglet since it opened so was happy to finally check it out for Sunday brunch. I made a reservation for our party of 4 a couple days before coming, but definitely didn't need it as it was pretty empty when we came. You need to provide your credit card info when making the reservation, so would recommend walking in for brunch. Decorations were nice inside with lanterns hanging from the ceiling and plenty of natural lighting. We ordered a couple items to share: Lu rou fan ($27) Pork cutlet sando ($24) Honey walnut shrimp and pork toast ($23) I felt like the food in general runs sweet here. Our favorite was definitely the shrimp and pork toast. The patty was super crispy and paired well with the slightly sweet walnuts. If only the portion was bigger! The lu rou fan was good as well, even though it was on the sweeter side and probably the sweetest version I've had of it. My least favorite was the pork katsu sando, which I thought it was too sweet. My vegetarian friend had the ginger scallion cheese bread ($13) as there weren't much options for him. I tried a bite of it and it was interesting. The cheese paired surprisingly well with the ginger scallion flavor which was unexpected.

The highlight of dinner was definitely the honey walnut shrimp & pork toast! The patty was crispy on the outside with a bouncy inner texture. The crunchy sweet walnuts and the creamy savory mayo sauce added complexity to the flavor. The chashao pork belly ssam was on the saltier side, but it balanced out well with the lettuce wrap and cabbage slaw. We wrapped some of our mushroom with it too. The pig face gravy noodle was quite heavy. The noodles were a bit too thick for my personal liking. The restaurant was busy on a Friday night. We (party of 2) without a reservation had to wait a bit for bar seats. The atmosphere was very hip. They had TV broadcasting throwback HK movie clips.

We went for brunch at 1 pm on Sunday. The food was pretty visually. The flavors were fusion and a unique take, but the dishes we got didn't feel cohesive. I went for porridge, but it's seasonal (only in the winter) so we couldn't even get it. I - shrimp toast: 3/5 - Lu rou fan: 2/5, eggs were cooked with butter and I felt the dish should be more savory - Woodear mushroom: 4/5 The drinks option looked interesting, so want to come back specifically for that

Came here without realizing it was SF restaurant week and was able to get reservations on Resy a day before dining in. Luckily, I was one of the several parties seated before the dinner rush. Food / Drink Taiwanese Hot Tea - Eastern Beauty If you like Oolong tea flavor profiles, I would recommend this tea! It was served piping hot with the tea bag in a Bodum double-wall glass with a cap over it. Charred Arrowhead Cabbage - $18 Two pieces of cabbage wedges were served and each had a nice char to it. The doubanijiang glaze was a bit too acidic and made the dish feel a bit like sautéed vegetables. Mala BBQ Pork Ribs - $18 Served with 2 pork ribs, it wasn't tender fall-off-the-bone as anticipated and contained several bones. It took some chewing and effort to eat the dish. Honey Walnut Shrimp & Pork Toast - $23 Served with two pieces - the panko fried pork, shrimp mousse, and candied walnuts paired very well with the honey mayo glaze. This was my favorite dish and would highly recommend ordering it. Ginger Scallion Cheese Bread - $14 Served with ginger scallion, mozzarella cheese, and toasted milk bread, it was fresh and chewy. The cheese was a nice and thick layer. Pig Face Gravy Noodles - $23 Served with black pepper pig head gravy, scallion chow mein noodles, and mustard relish. The noodles were al dente and gravy was rich and creamy. The sauce could've been scaled back a bit - it felt slightly overpowering. Szechuan Honey Chicken Wings - $22 Served with three triple-fried chicken wings, mala honey, yuzu buttermilk ranch, chili powder, and Taiwan sauce. The wings were meaty with a light, crisp batter and subtle seasoning. The yuzu buttermilk ranch added a bright, tangy kick that tied the dish together. They provide complimentary wet towels to wipe your hands after eating and oranges when the bill is served. Customer Service My party was warmly greeted upon entering and seated shortly after. The staff accommodated my party with providing a high chair, a children's plate, utensils, and plastic water cup with a lid. The waiter provided helpful ordering tips for SF restaurant week. It became super busy with the dinner rush and every server was so kind and helpful throughout the dining experience! Location / Parking It's nestled along Mission Street. Parking was a bit tough to find since Mission Street is already flooded with cars parked along the road. After circling the area a few times, a parking spot was available about a block away. Ambiance Casual restaurant with very dim lighting, there's a full bar with seats, and red lanterns hung all over the ceilings. Each table had a small vase with freshly cut flowers.

Pretty mediocre experience, menu has pork cooked in many different ways, but lack vegetable selection making the whole meal very heavy. Meat in the donburi is quite hard to chew, pork ribs tastes sour and salty (in a bad way). The pork and shrimp toast was pretty good, maybe a bit too sweet. Went on a work day dinner and the restaurant was pretty empty.

Great deals. Left side are lunch portions. Right side are perfect when you want a little something with your boozy lunch.

I can't believe it. They had the shrimp and walnut toast!! It was so delicious and rich! I think you're only allowed to eat this once a year.

Fun new fusion spot. Great lovely atmosphere and nice staff. They were playing classic Asian action movies when I was there. The drink menu is pretty limited, I would say their cocktails were not special at all. The food menu is diverse! I loved seeing the bits of Asian fusion from different cultures. My favorite bite was the chashu bossam - that one is a MUST order. The scallop baked appetizer was delicious too. A lot of people are fans of the shrimp toast but I didn't think it was particularly special. I do appreciate the idea though. I think it would benefit from a creamier sauce to really pull everything together. I'd skip the Szechuan wings - they tasted like basic wings. There wasn't really any level of numbing spice. Overall a cool new spot in the mission and with a few tweaks to their menu I think they'll really be a hot spot!

Booked a reservation for brunch. The restaurant had plenty of room, so I probably didn't need a reservation, I'm not sure if that's typical of weekend brunch, or if it was unusually empty because the Carnaval parade was happening outside - I didn't realize this until exiting the BART station into the crowd. Ordered the pickle party, szechuan honey wings, lu rou fan, honey walnut shrimp & pork toast, and the milk tea french toast to share for a group of four. Excellent meal. Standout elements were the wings, the pickled wood ear, the baklava-filling-ish "walnut relish" on the toast, and the texture of the boba on the french toast. The lurou fan was also quite good, but it probably would have been better if we hadn't been sharing and hadn't already had a pickle party.

This spot was good it had yummy flavors but the price was higher for the quality/quantity... it was a whopping 16$ for corn on the cob like cmon look at that corn pic! it was mind blowing. In all honesty I did not get much Asian flavor it was more American fusion to me. Service was good but not extraordinary and the ambiance was lack luster. This place did ok but something about it was off to me I cannot put my finger on it. It also weirdly smelt like garbage to me. We sat by the open kitchen.

The food is thoughtfully tasty, so that's not the problem. It's just awfully expensive with mediocre portion sizing. Not to mention they charge for basic sauces (chili oil). When asked about what makes their chili oil unique, the staff was pretty clueless. Service needs work. The waitress was rude and dismissive. They never sent out the plates we ordered. Had they checked on our table even a single time, they would have noticed. All in all, this is an upscale modern Chinese restaurant that rinses as much money out of you as humanely possible. The food is delicious, but you're likely to leave hungry and broke.

The chef describes the menu as "Taiwanese inspired comfort food." After an incredibly filling and memorable meal, I can attest that Piglet & Co. is a warm hug personified. They take reservations, and they have a number of tables and bar seating. The menu is thoughtfully curated and meant to be shared - I would say "the more, the merrier" for a group meal here. My colleague and I split four dishes: the famous honey walnut shrimp toast, the pork stir fries, the dynamite scallops, and pigs head noodles. I would be very hard pressed to pick a favorite. A sucker for noodles, I loved the gravy and texture of the dish. The scallops were incredible - every morsel was consumed. We paired our food with a Taiwan beer + pineapple juice - a refreshing drink. The chef's wife was tending bar, and she was so delightful! The meal and conversation were a highlight of this visit to the Bay Area.

She surprised me with a reservation at Ox + Tiger and I was immediately impressed. The restaurant only seats 8 people, making the whole experience super intimate and personal. When Japanese and Filipino flavors come together, you get such a unique fusion cuisine inspired by chef couple Ej and Hatomi. Dinner was more than just a meal it was a 2 to 2.5 hour storytelling experience about their menu creations, how they met, and the grind behind keeping their dream alive. The menu changes monthly, so even if I told you what we had, you probably wouldn't get the same dishes unless you book now lol. It's a 3-course menu with optional add-ons, and definitely unlike any restaurant I've been to before. As a Filipino, I'll admit I can be picky with Filipino-inspired food because we grow up spoiled by our parents' cooking but this? I was genuinely impressed. Think familiar flavors recreated in their own creative and elevated way. Highly recommend.

Situated in a small, 8 seat counter, dinner is intimate with dishes being prepared right in front of you. The menu features three courses, an appetizer, main, and a dessert - with the option for an additional add-on. Our meal featured a focus on fish, in particular mackerel and monkfish. Each of the dishes were deconstructions of familiar concepts such as Caesar salad and a California roll, but enhanced with new flavors. The mackerel was sublime, perfectly charred exterior with a still raw interior. The monkfish was tender, coated in a ginger, wasabi sauce next to crispy sweet rice and avocado. The dessert was by far the most unique, being a miso dashi, mushroom cherry coated coconut ice cream with a tupig-like mochi on the side. The savory, sweet, sour combination completely catches you off guard but becomes increasingly addictive the more you eat. So bold and absolutely memorable. Ox&Tiger takes familiar concepts, breaks them apart, then fuses them back together with a flair of Filipino and Japanese flavors. This results in dishes that are utterly unique and innovative. Additionally, with menus and playlists designed by family, this truly feels like the epitome of a family-run business and a meal cooked with so much care in front of you. This is absolutely worth a visit and an opportunity to try new flavors you've never experienced before.

Everything about the ordering process and the quality of the food itself was good but not great. There was no wow factor or anything that left me feeling extra motivated to return, but I also wouldn't be opposed if I were nearby and craving onigiri. There's a single kiosk in-store to order at, but you can also place an order with the person working the counter if it's not too busy. I wasn't sure what I wanted immediately, so I waited for one of my friends to finish before ordering. I added 1 unagi eel, 1 unagi onigiri, and 1 crab onigiri to my basket and checked out. I have absolutely no idea what's the difference between "unagi eel" and "unagi onigiri", and when I went to pick up my order, the staff member told me my order was two unagi and one crab. However, I was charged $4.50 for the unagi eel and $4.30 for the unagi onigiri, so go figure. I could not detect a difference between the two, and the price of each averaged out to $4.40, so it's whatever. I unwrapped one of the unagi onigiris to eat in-store as we waited for a Zoox to arrive. It was actually pretty difficult to extricate the seaweed and rice ball filling in one piece to consume together, which I presume is because the onigiris are each made-to-order and due to the freshness, the separate ingredients haven't had a chance to marinate and congeal together. As I had not eaten all day, I quickly devoured the onigiris before and after our short ride back to a café where some of our other friends were waiting. The onigiris were, as I mentioned before, pretty standard minus the fact they kind of fell apart. I would say if you like onigiris, then these will get the job done, but they're nothing exceptional, so keep your standards at baseline.

Even before this most recent visit, I'd enjoyed intimate dinners here for its creative, Korean-Thai-inspired menu that always packed an impressive punch of flavor but, dare I say, the brunch might be even better. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.
